Planted on 8/12/18. Sprouted on 8/15/18. Initially light was 12-15" away, but I noticed a good bit of stretching so I put the lights on top of the top. Temp is in 80s due to no actual exhaust installed. Ambient is 73F. Using 1 Green Pad Jr. every 5 days removing the old after 10.
Lost a Blueberry seedling due to stretch. Poor girl was just too long and toppled over. Instead of trying to deal with propping her up I tossed it. Others seem to be just fine, but a little leggy for my taste. Swapped out the first Green Pad Jr with a new one (#3). Added more Great White because I have plenty of microbes. Starter plugs are getting a bit dry every 2-3 days. Doing this out of a 1.9 liter Canada Dry bottle so measurements will be a bit weird till I get into full sized pots and starting watering with gallons. Probably going to keep them in the tray for another 2 weeks
Was having to water everyday in the starter plug so I just decided to put them into party cups. Added granular Bioag VAM and Xtreme Gardening Mykos in addition to the soluble Great White. Covered the root mass in Mykos & put the VAM in the hole before I inserted the plug. I had an absolute brain fart and added too much water (2gal vs 1) to the mix so the ppm was actually half what I initially intended. Soil is Promix HPCC. Also switched to 4ft 4 bulb (2 bulbs turned off) at 20" away. Didn't take picture of root growth, but they were all hanging out of the plug. Similar to the one pic in week 2's. Gonna feed 1 more week of Clonex then switch to my actual nutrients.
4" exhaust is now turned on with two 8-10" fans circulating air, but not directly touching the plants as they're still too small.
There were actually two feeding this week. One with just Clonex/Great White and another (4 days later) with Ful-Power, Superthrive and Great White. 400ppm of Clonex and around 100ppm (water is 59ppm) of the other stuff. 2nd feeding is technically very low on nutrients, but as I fed already that week and the fact that Fulvic Acid and Superthrive are very low in TDS in the first place I'm not worried. Again no yellowing=plenty of nutes. The measurements in the nutrient section include everything I fed this week. Also Ful-Power's recommended dose says 20-30ml per gallon. Just in case that seems excessive
Per Grow Boss's recommendation I added green pad jr's in cups to help with extra co2. They're extras I had left over since I finished growing in the dome early so no extra cost. Will switch to TnB once I have a full canopy. Also I hate seeds, Those first two weeks were so slow.
Two split feedings again. One that was Clonex, Great White, Superthrive and Ful-Power and another that was just Great White (1/2 a scoop) and Calimagic. I'm personally not a fan of the solo cups requiring more frequent waterings, but going by their growth from week 3 to 4 I think they do the job pretty well. I also topped all 6 plants since I didn't want them to be doubly stressed from the transpanting next week. For the next feeding I'll be putting them into 1 gal fabic pots and switching to General Organics Grow/Bloom. This was also the final 2 Greed Pad Jr's I had so I only won't be adding additional Co2 until I have a full canopy. Then I'll switch to TnB. This will also allow me to start venting properly which will cause the tent's temp to drop slightly since I'll actually be removing the hot air. Ambient in the office (where the tent is) is actually 72 so I can't imagine a 10-12c increase from T5 lights.
While this is technically a 5 week grow the first two weeks were really just seedlings under 24hr light. But I only grow once a year anyway so I'm less concerned about the time it takes (within reason) and more making sure I have enough plant to get me the yield I'm looking for.
@Frog_Fisher,Promix is pretty neutral and doesn't really come with any nutrients in it since it's a soilless mix. Fox farm is typically pretty 'hot'. In regards to PPM my water is around 50ppm so 170 is actually pretty low in my experience and I was using a good bit of Co2 with the greed pad jrs.
If you watch his Great Root Race video you'll see the plants with the green pad actually yellow pretty quickly as they're absorbing nutrients at a faster rate than the other plants.
@bobo420, Updated pics yesterday. Last pic should show set of two true leaves. Even the first few pics do actually. Cotyledons are below that. If you mean :they don't have 5 leaves" that's a size thing. Technically there's no difference between how the leaves function/show symptoms once true leaves start appearing. Only the cotyledons function differently.
EDIT: Besides, yellowing is from a lack of nutrients and the plant pulling the nutes from the leaves. It's entirely possible for any leaf to yellow if the plant doesn't get what it needs from cotyledons/media. Whether the leaves are "proper" or not doesn't change how the plant gets nutrients.
@bobo420, That's why I mentioned my not getting yellowing yet. If I was (or had other signs of a deficiency) I'd totally agree that the 270ppm was too low.
EDIT: Also Co2 PPM levels with 2-3 green pads should be pretty good. The videos I've seen show that in a dome (when not venting obviously) PPM levels are around 600-700 per pad. Obviously that would be nothing if I was venting, but it's in a closed dome.
I have grown the raspberry cough from Nirvana they were great. Both plants stayed short and stout big indica leaves. Smelled great when they were done as well.
