Lot of progress since the last update as well as a few unfortunate mishaps - Sometime late in week 5 of veg I topped all of the plants tallest main branches (2-5 tops each) after already LST’ing them earlier in veg which I think is promising so far. My usual approach to training the plants has been to top early in veg near the 6th or 7th node (as many of have probably been told) to try to get the plant to establish a more bushy growth pattern. This time I wanted to try to let the plant establish itself more before removing any tops (hence starting with LST). My thought process was that if I LST early on in veg I could get the plant to remain short and bushy and break the plants apical dominance. Then, wait until the plant is larger to top (and remove at that time, proportionally less “plant” from the plant, lol). So far I like the looks of the plants structure, and taking tops 2 weeks before flowering should lead to a good amount of main colas 🤞🏻 Secondly, and where the mishaps start, I introduced a small space heater to the tent. Since the temps started dropping here, my basement has cooled a lot and by proxy so has my tent. I noticed that my tent was especially cold Christmas Eve morning, and threw a heater in and rushed out to the festivities and accidentally burnt/dried out a few leaves and one branch on the already stunted Apple Fritter. After suspending it from the tents ceiling, I’ve had no further issues with it. Unfortunately its much harder to find floor space with six 4gal pots than it was with three 6.25gals. Switching to 12/12 now, can’t wait to see these girls flower!

Anyone have advice on seeds that can’t kick their shells after germination? I wanted to try to help split them open with tweezers but didn’t want to harm the baby seedling inside.

Spritz the seed shell with water every hour or so until it falls off. The water softens the shell and helps the plant just enough to get rid of it. Trying to do it manually can cause unexpected damage too easily in my experience, which involves 100s and 100s of seedlings in close to 40 years of cultivation.

Ive a great idea if ya ever have to help the seedling out of its shell get an old tweezers and pull the bottom apart about 10 mm put some double sided tape on each side and gently squeeze on each half of the seed when you think it has stuck to each side of the shell gently take the squeeze off the tweezers and it should pull apart or help it along by pulling each side to pull the seed open 😉, the spongy double sided tape is super sticky, can put a piece on first finger of each hand and lightly stick to each side of the seed and pull apart gently 👌, i getting a patent on this idea and making a tool 💡🤔✌️

@Paul_on, great idea! I think that is definitely worth a shot rather than prying the shell open. Thank you for the advice gromie!

Did you all see my idea to use two pieces of double sided tape wrapped around a tweezers or similar or first finger on each hand and stick to each side of the shell dont squeeze to tight when its stuck pull the two sides apart 👍🏻simples
