November 9th:
My brother and I both dropped a bean in some living soil over the weekend and blammo, more lil guys for the grow rooms!
I've never grown any cheesecake cultivars, so this is going to be a new experience for me.
November 23rd:
She seems to be growing a tad slow, out of the gate. But, this is only the end of it's second full week of veg.
I'm not sure how I'm going to train it, yet. I'm probably going to just LST it.
November 30th:
Up-potted Bubbz a few days before these pictures were taken and it looks like the soil was a little overloaded with nutrients. Not sure how that happened, but it should be fine.
December 6th:
She got a little toasty for a while and took on some heat damage, but she's recovering nicely. I'm going to trim up the leaves tomorrow and give her a good foliar spray.
Almost time to start training!
December 13th:
I finally committed to LST. I pulled down the top and secured it, so I should get a lot more branch growth than I already was.
The, "two leaf top," is my official go-to instead of traditional topping. I'm pretty sure that's what makes plants kick out such nice branch growth.

December 20th:
She's finally being given nutes. It's not showing any signs of needing them, but since I use living organic soil, maybas well stay ahead of her on this part.
She's growing some nice branches and doesn't even look like she got defoliated three days ago. Soon, the canopy will be flat and she will start boomin'!
Her growth in veg so far is nice. It seems like low stress training and fairly constant defoliation is the way to go for good development of side branches with this cultivar. It grows such massive leaves, they don't allow much light to the branches underneath them.

December 27th:
Took off some shade leaves to give more light to potential branches, nothing outside of normal.
Moved her to a different location in the veg room, hopefully it will help her stay sturdy.
One more month in veg, is what I'm thinking. Seedsman says this cultivar makes a good stretch at the beginning of flower, so I have to make sure she's got a solid base.
Going to have to up-pot within the next two weeks. Seven gallon pot is what I'm aiming for. Sure, it's only a 2 gallon increase, but it makes a big difference.
January 3rd:
Started today off with some training, light lollipopping, and defoliation.
Hit her with an organic IPM mixture I whipped up and let her sit in the dark while she dried out.
Then, I watered her and set her back into the veg room.

January 10th:
I decided to take pictures before I defoliated, this time around. That way, people other than me can see her when she has some meat on her bones!
This is going to be the last time I defoliate until the end of the month. Then, after the defoliation, she's getting a few days of regeneration before heading into the bloom room.
IPM is still:
- 1 litre warm water
- 1tablespoon Neem oil
- 1/2 teaspoon Castille soap
January 16th:
A couple more weeks and she's getting flipped.
Did a little defol, lollipopping, and some LST. You know, stuff you do when you grow "boof." 😁
No nutes this week, just straight water. She was praying and a perfect color all week, so no need to mess with that at all.
January 24th:
It's time.
She's going into the bloom room tonight. I think this stretch should be interesting. I hope there's going to be enough room in the bloom room.
January 31st:
Trying to wait until week 3 of flower to defoliate again, but I already have the itch.
Bubbz is lookin' pretty good. It's very happy and stress-free. Starting to see noticable stretch and solid growth. She's going to look great in a month, knock on wood.
February 7th:
End of week two!
That means, next week, she's getting a haircut.
Still stretching. Not really throwing out too many pistils yet, but they should be a lot more noticable at the end of week three.
Fed her a 1/2 liter of BuildABloom and a half liter of Dr. Earth's 1-2-1 once this week. All the other waterings were with well water. Next week is when I'll start feeding it every other watering.
February 14th:
End of week three means she got a hefty haircut. It really opened up a lot of nodes I hadn't seen during the stretch so far. She's going to have some chonkers on her, for sure.
Speaking of stretch, she hasn't stretched as much as anticipated, that's not a big deal. The bloom room is pretty full already, so I'm looking at it as a positive.
Time to sit back, feed it BuildABloom every other watering for a few weeks, and watch the magic.
February 21st:
I'm guessing she's done stretching and ready to pack on weight. I think I should've reduced it's light intensity during veg to let it get a little bigger, but you live and you learn. I'll know for next run.
February 28th:
Still the happiest plant in the room.
She's getting frosty and starting to smell a little.
The buds are already kinda chunky. I can definitely tell there's cheese in this cultivar.
I upped the intensity of the light she'd under by about 6%, to 75%.
Still giving her a liter of BuildABloom whenever she needs it and a liter of just water every three feedings.
March 7th:
She frosty. Interesting smell. Did I say frosty?
She's still loving life, ragin' in the bloom room. Temperature and humidity holding steady.
March 14th:
Smelling like sour Skittles. She's starting to slow down on drinking and showing a little color. That tells me she's starting to fade.
So! Nothing but water for the rest of her life.
Light intensity is up to 80%. I'm going to try and work it up to 90% this next week.
No pruning or trimming over the past month, she's been left to grow how she wants. This will continue until the chop.
A couple more weeks, I'm guessing. Then, Harvest Time!
March 21st:
I finally got a camera up and running, so i was a little impatient and took pictures last night. I hope the video works!
Light intensity made it up to 100% with no negative effects over the week.
Second week of no nutrients! It doesn't seem to mind so far.
Those nugs are still getting bigger and bigger. They are starting to weigh down the branches and make them bend downward.
She still smells like a freshly opened bag of sour skittles. The trichomes creamed up a bit since i checked them last week, so i might only need to wait another week! But, i'm still going to expect it to finish in two to three weeks.
March 28th:
She's still standing. I tried to take some trichome shots, but i'm not sure how well they are. It's my first shot at it, so cut me some slack!
I gave about two gallons of water this week. I'm not sure if she's still drinking a lot, or if the pot getting dry faster is due to a few degree increase in temperature. All of the water was straight well water, not pH'ed. Which reminds me:
pH of water doesn't matter when using living soil. The pH of the Soil is what matters. pH in hydroponics makes sense because the water is where your plants will pick up nourishment. The medium for hydro IS the water, which means your water needs proper pH. In soil, the pH is due to all the calcium, magnesium, micro and macro nutrients and minerals that are in it. That will create a pH in your soil. Now, you can also get a high pH in your soil due to sodium build-up. This isn't what you're looking for, as sodium build-up in soil is a no-no.
Now, for the fun fact: If you have a low pH in your soil because you don't have enough calcium, pH'ing your water isn't going to do anything. You gotta fix the soil problem, which will correct the pH of the soil, and trying to use pH'ed water isn't the solution. You'd have to add more calcium to your soil to fix it.
Anyway.
Light intensity is still at 100%.
As you can see, i've got some floppy branches on this cultivar. I gotta admit, i love when branches start floppin' around. It tells me that the plant is close to harvest! Just gotta wait on those trichomes to get a few more amber, then she'll be ready to chop.
She's still only showing fade ever so slightly. The purple hue is nice, but i wish it would become a bit more pronounced. Maybe it will over the next few days.
EDIT:
Edited to add a picture of the full plant and a video that didn't upload when i made this week's entry.
April 4th:
I was thinking i might not have to make this entry, but here we are. Don't get me wrong, i'm really happy this plant isn't harvested yet. The nugs just keep getting bigger and the smell keeps getting stronger! This plant has been nothing but pure joy to grow and i'm going to be sad once it's harvested.
Back to our regularly scheduled broadcast: Bubba Cheesecake!
She drank a little under two gallons this past week. Straight, unadulterated well water.
Light is still on 100% intensity. It's really getting the plant to make a LOT of trichomes!
April 12th:
I wonder...
I wonder if Wedding cake has Ice Cream Cake as a parent....
*Quick google search*
Nope, turns out, it's a Cherry Pie pheno crossed with Girl Scout Cookies. Well, there goes that hunch. Ice Cream Cake is a 12+ week flowering cultivar, which is why i was wondering, since this current Bubba Cheesecake pheno is Still not ready. No noticeable senescence other than a tiny bit of purple on a few sugar leaves.
Wedding Cake usually takes 9-12 weeks, depending on which genetics lab is claiming flowering time.
Exodus Cheese takes at least 10 weeks, from the research i've done.
Pre-'98 Bubba Kush takes around 9-10 weeks to finish flowering, as well.
Now it makes sense! Why my plant is on week 11 and not showing many signs of slowing down yet, that is.
She drank a gallon of well water this week. I probably should've watered her again today, but oh well. I'll give her some more water tomorrow,
Light intensity is still at 100%.
I was hoping to be able to smoke this on 4/20, but you know what they say: Hope in one hand, poop in the other...
Either way, i still find myself staring into my bloom room, at this plant. All those curves 😍
I'll address this once i do a smoke report in a few weeks. But, as of right now, it's still smelling like sour candy.
Update:
Man oh man i wish I would've cloned this plant!! She tasted just like she smelled: sweet, floral perfume with a very earthy exhale. I loved this pheno so much, I bought more bubba cheesecake seeds and offered my brother a trade for the ones he has left, to try and find it again. So far, in my brief indoor growing life (since September), this is hands down the best nug I've grown.
The veg cycle was shorter than i usually like to have a plant go through, due to time restrictions for the Bubba Cheesecake Diary grow-off, but it still did fantastic in my mind!
Three months in veg under high-octane light and 11 1/2 weeks in flower have let this plant turn into a dreadlocked group of nugs. Three main colas, but lots of burnable flower to enjoy once the dry is finished.
I did a light LST with a decent amount of defoliation throughout the plant's life. I like to open up the middle area of the plant and let as much light as possible hit as many branch and potential flower nodes as possible. This way, i don't need to lollipop as many branches and as much foliage as i would if i didn't do this. Plus, the candelabra look is b-e-a-Utiful, in my opinion.
Light intensity through veg ranged from 40% as a fresh seedling to around 55% the week before i put it into the bloom room. Once it was in the bloom room, the intensity was set at 50% for the first couple weeks to allow for a decent stretch. After that, i think i recorded the light intensity in my diary notes for each week. But, just in case i didn't, I bumped up the intensity by a few percent every 3 days until i hit 100%. Once i got to MAXIMUM POWER, i left it there until harvest.
Water was natural well water that tests out at 7 pH. I always added BuildABloom to the water, never the soil, when i used it. Same with Dr. Earth's 1-2-1 tea concentrate. Other than those instances, it was just straight water that i was giving to the plant.
Grow rooms are both about 4'x8'.
Lights are still budget lights:

All in all, this was one of the most enjoyable cultivars I've grown inside since i started indoor grows in September 2022. I'm definitely going to try and get more seeds off of my brother, as well as buy some more seeds to pheno-hunt through!
Thank you, @Seedsman , for running this contest. I would have never tried this cultivar out if it wasn't for you giving me a little incentive!
@GYOweed, gosh, I hope so. I'm worried my pictures might hold me back, though. I wish I had a better camera. The photos I've been taking don't do this plant justice.
@Ju_Bps, me too, I love giving a plant a few months to grow. And thank you!! She's been a blast to grow, so far and has a faint, very interesting black pepper like scent. I'm excited to sniff it in a month. 😁
Congrats on your win.. well deserved

Do you have any idea why they're tagged to our openings in a browser? I've never had them. My links use to be so simple until I joined here.
@gottagrowsometime, thank you, I truly appreciate it!
I think they switched up being able to share links due to all the spam and scam postings in the questions, but I'm not too sure, honestly. I shared the links just to prove you can grow amazing nugs with an all budget setup, so I never really paid much attention to how or where they pop up. Do you have any ideas on why this might be happening?
