Starting my 2nd grow, a Trainwreck Auto seed from North Atlantic Seed Co.'s Bulk / White label collection. Trying to rectify some crimes I committed during my 1st grow, I first mixed and wetted a more intentional growing medium this time consisting mostly of coco coir, and increased fabric pot size from 2 gallon (~8L) to 3 gallon (~12L). To germinate, I attempted a mix of techniques including "Float Tech" and H2O2. In a small glass, I mixed 1 part 3% H2O2 with 2 parts distilled water. I then gently lowered the seed ensuring that it floated. Covered, it was moved into darkness near a heater (~80F). Within 36 hours, still floating, there was a visible taproot ~1cm long. No need for a plastic bag or paper towel, no need for spraying, and no need to worry about separating the sprout from the paper. Happy this method seems to work and will likely continue similarly in the future. She was then gently planted in the medium, 1cm deep into about a cup of starting mix that was isolated in the middle of the pot much like last time. She's in the same tent with my previous grow, displaced off-center of the light giving preference to the older girl, which is probably a little more than 1/2 way through her journey. Under a humidity dome, she broke ground within 48 hours and is seemingly growing much more vigorously than last time. -- Seed -- Trainwreck Auto from North Atlantic Seed Co.'s Bulk / White label https://northatlanticseed.com/product/trainwreck-auto/ -- Soil/Medium -- 60% Coco Coir https://www.walmart.com/ip/AquaCulture-Coconut-Husk-Brick-1-43lbs-649-g/961945756 15% Perlite https://www.homedepot.com/p/Vigoro-2-cu-ft-Organic-Perlite-Soil-Amendment-100521091/205655210 15% Hoffman's Organic Soil (mostly peat/soil, ~10-15% perlite/sand, some fertilizer) https://goodearth.org/home/potting-soils-mixes/22-49-organic-potting-soil.html 10% Hoffman's Seed Starter (mostly peat/vermiculite) https://goodearth.org/home/specialty-planting-mixes/27-65-seed-starter.htm 3TBS Jobe's Organic Raised Bed Fertilizer (4/4/4), mixed in https://jobescompany.com/product/jobes-organics-purpose-granular/ About a cup's worth of Seed Starter isolated in the center of the pot to cradle seedling -- Nutrients -- Better-Gro Orchid Plus Water Soluble Fertilizer (20/14/13) https://www.better-gro.com/orchid_plus.html Better-Gro Orchid Better Bloom Water Soluble Fertilizer (11/35/15) https://www.better-gro.com/orchid_better_bloom.html -- Lighting (20/4 - Off 12pm-4:20pm) -- Spider Farmer 100w LED https://growdiaries.com/grow-lights/spider-farmer/sf-1000 2 cheap supplement 28w CFLs (not used yet) -- Enclosure/Environment -- Grow Tent - 36"x20"x63" 3-gallon fabric pot Runoff tray Pot risers Humidity dome (Bottom 1/2 of two-liter bottle with a few holes) Spray Bottle & Water evaporation jug Heating pad (Pet-Reptile Style) Temp/Humidity gauge (Maintaining ~68F-76F, ~50%RH) Digital On/Off Timer, Extension cords Two fans (6") Grow tent exhaust fan with carbon filter sleeve (Not yet used) Clips, wires, pipe cleaners for training 3-way soil meter and Digital TDS and PH meters for testing

Daily topsoil spraying with rainwater to keep moist, with a bit more ~2 inches surrounding sprout. Maybe about 15-20 sprays total. Dec 1 - Day 3 Humidity dome was removed. Excess water buildup on new growth (can be seen in image) was gently wicked away with bathroom tissue. Dec 3 - Day 5 Sprayed as usual. Rotated. Dec 4 - Day 6 Watered around sprout with about ~100ml evaporated water (~6.25ph). Rotated. Dec 5 - Day 7 Same again with ~150ml.

Dec 6 - Day 8 Continuing to water with about 100-150ml ph'd water daily for now. The first leaves are a tiny bit burned at the tips (noticable since day 6) and she's a little slanted today, but fine otherwise I hope. Will be keeping a close eye on new tips. Dec 7 - Day 9 Same treatment. Thankfully, the new leaves don't have burned tips so far. I wonder if the initial few waterings/mistings with rainwater were the problem. Looking back at my 1st diary, this one seems to be as mature as days 11-12 previously. As this is a bulk/white-label seed, I can't really assume this fast growth is due to breeder/quality. So, I'll credit the current medium, current lighting situation, and/or better PH'd water. Or maybe it's due to the strain, which I'll be able to compare with 2 more seeds in the future. Whatever the case, I'm obviously pleased. 👌 Dec 8 - Day 10 Just continuing light watering. Dec 9 - Day 11 Hectic day and missed pics unfortunately, but was able to at least give her a quick spray. Dec 10 - Day 12 Routine 100ml - 150ml PH'd water. Will likely give her first thorough watering very soon. Her new leaves are definitely much wider than my previous grow, I guess showing her indica curves. I've forgotten to mention previously that since sprouting, she's had a tiny humidifier very close to her. So hopefully, her RH is higher than the ambient that I'm recording. Dec 11 - Day 13 First feeding. I'm not really sure why I chose today other than it just felt right. Mixed Veg fertilizer (20/14/13) at 25% recommended strength (~1/16 tsp into 1L) and fed with ~750ml mostly around the drip line (~6.25ph). This is a bit more aggressive than my first grow, but she's also in a larger pot with of mostly coco (rather than soil) so I think that merits the increased volume. Also, 2 cheap 28W LEDs were also turned on for the mature plant she's sharing the tent with. Will be keeping a close eye on her due to these changes. 🔎🌱🤞 Dec 12 - Day 14 Just rotated and repositioned slightly for more a bit more light exposure.

Thanks for stopping by! Dec 13 - Day 15 Seems like a healthy start to the week. Just rotated after yesterday's feeding. Mixed 50% recommended veg ferts (~1/4 tsp 2L) for next feeding. Dec 14 - Day 16 Fed with 500ml of what was mixed yesterday. Rotated. Dec 15 - Day 17 Just resting. Rotated. New axillary branches can be seen forming. She's got a lean to her that I'll keep an eye on. Will likely keep her oriented so that reaching for the light will straighten her. Dec 16 - Day 18 Fed with another 500ml of 50% recommended concentration. Dec 17 - Day 19 Rest. Dec 18 - Day 20 Performed first bit of training with a pipe-cleaner hook and fed with another 500ml of 50% concentration. Moved quite a bit closer to lights as well, maybe about 18 inches away. Dec 19 - Day 21 Temporarily reinforced stem by tying to a bamboo skewer that'll be removed as she grows. Also rearranged lights in hopes of a bit more efficient use of the smaller LED's.

Dec 20 - Day 22 More training at top of apical stem. Bit of leaf tucking. Considering defoliating a leaf or two but I'm hesitant. Fed with remaining 500ml of 50% concentration. Mixed 75% for next feeds. Forgot pics 🤦‍♂️ Dec 21 - Day 23 More training at the top of the apical stem. Rest. Dec 22 - Day 24 Fed with ~650-750ml 75% concentration that was mixed previously. Defoliated 1 healthy fan leaf that was clearly covering new growth. A quick but painful process. I'm sure she'll be fine though. I randomly decided to place the leaf in between folded printing paper in the middle of a hard-bound book topped with a cinder block, just to see what happens. Noticed very light damage to the main stem that I'm attributing to the pipe cleaners. Replacing them is something I'll be considering. Dec 23 - Day 23 Rest. Dec 24 - Day 26 Fed with ~650-750ml previous mixture. Tucked a few leaves. Considering defoliating another but will wait. Dec 25 - Day 27 Merry Christmas! Quite sick however. Cracking fever. No pics. Dec 26 - Day 28 Tested positive. Managed to continue the previous regimen. We're all resting. No pics again.

Dec 27 - Day 29 Feeling a bit better. She's growing strong. Attempting a bit more aggressive training than my last plant now that I understand their structure a bit better. Adding 2 more tie-downs, pulled the main, and tucked several leaves to open up the canopy. Mixed 1tsp grow ferts to 2L water making a 100% recommended solution to use next feed. Dec 28 - Day 30 Removed basal tie/bamboo as she was getting too thick for it. She didn't bend back. Tucked/teased a few spots. Fed with ~1L of previously mixed solution. Rotated. Dec 29 - Day 31 Rest. No pics. Dec 30 - Day 32 Tied another branch. Pulled the apical stem further, but parallel to pot edge creating the start of a spiral. Fed with ~1L previous mixture. Dec 31 - Day 33 Rest. No pics. Jan 1 - Day 34 Happy New Year! Jan 2 - Day 35 Watered with rainwater/tap mix (~6.25pH). Tied 2-3 more stems and snipped 2-3 more leaves that were causing problems with the canopy. I've been noticing first signs of flowering for the last couple of days.

In hindsight, this week should've been categorized as flowering, but I guess it's too late now. Jan 3 - Day 36 Rest. Jan 4 - Day 37 Fed with ~1L 100% recommended grow fertilizer solution (1tsp per gallon). Pulled some ties with fairly assertive hand training/tucking. No new ties. Seemed to work well until the last stem broke and broke my heart. I thankfully had mending tape ready and had it in place within moments. I know it's normal to make mistakes but it still feels terrible! I hope the branch recovers. Jan 5 - Day 38 Thankfully, the stem I had to repair seems healthy for now, even growing overnight along with a few other branches that are breaking the canopy. Added a few more ties and hand-trained a bit more. It looks like she's going to have more bud sites and potentially more light penetration than my last plant. Jan 6 - Day 39 2 more ties were added with some minor hand training. Fed with remaining 1L of previously mixed solution. Rotated. Jan 7 - Day 40 Rest. No pics. Jan 8 - Day 41 Fed with ~1L 100% recommended grow solution. Jan 9 - Day 42 Likely the last bit of serious training as she's getting older and the canopy looks fairly even to me now. Raised her 28W lights by a few inches as she'd grown just a bit too close for comfort. Overall, she seems healthy to me, especially when directly comparing her to my previous grow.

Just to reiterate, last week's diary should've definitely been labeled as flowering. My mistake. Anyhoo, good start to the week and looks like she's ready to stretch. Jan 10 Day 43 Fed with the remainder of the previous mixture (100% recommended grow), ~1L. Will mix some bloom ferts into the next batch. Jan 11 Day 44 Happy Birthday to me! Just let her rest. Checked on the previously bandaged branch which has managed to become one of her strongest. 💪 Jan 12 Day 45 Mixed 50% grow and 50% bloom ferts and fed with ~1L+. Jan 13 Day 46 Rest. Jan 14 Day 47 Fed with remaining 1L of the previous mix. Jan 15 Day 48 Rest. Jan 16 Day 49 Mixed a 50/50 recommended grow/bloom solution and fed with ~1L. Jan 17 Day 50 Rest n' rotation. Another good week without issue!

She's definitely stretching and seems healthy at the start of the week. Lots of bud sites are forming along each major branch and some trichomes are becoming visible. She's certainly better trained than my last plant but still a bit bushy looking. I'm not too worried about that though as her bud sites seem reasonably separated. Her older roommate is going to be harvested soon so this one will finally get her time directly under the main light. Jan 18 Day 51 Fed with remaining 50/50 recommended grow/bloom, ~1L. Lifted the pot to examine the bottom for the first time and noticed quite a bit of roots that have grown out of the bottom. She's on a pie plate that keeps the bottom of her pot elevated and these roots have grown into that space. Startled and worried, I did some quick research and most folks seem to imply this isn't terrible and that they'll be naturally 'air-pruned' if need be. That said, I'm hesitant to try to get a picture as I don't want to expose them unnecessarily. Jan 19 Day 52 Moved under the main light after her roomie was harvested. Rest and rotation. Jan 20 Day 53 Simply watered with 50/50 rainwater/tap mix, ~1L. No pics. Jan 21 Day 54 Just resting. Jan 22 Day 55 Mixed 50% recommended grow ferts and 50% recommended bloom ferts into 2L. Fed with 1L. Jan 23 Day 56 Tucked a few leaves and gently hand-trained a branch or two. Rotation and rest. She's had a very strong week with flowers growing vigorously. Noticed a bit of tip burn, which I'm going to assume is her signaling me to stop using the grow fertilizer. Otherwise, just waiting for her old roommate to dry and making preparations for her new buddy.

Hoping to continue last week's progress. Going to continue phasing out grow ferts. Jan 24 Day 57 Mixed 25/75 grow/bloom solution into 2L tap water. Fed with ~1L. Jan 25 Day 58 Rest n' rotation. Jan 26 Day 59 Fed with remaining 1L of the previous solution. Forgot pics 🤦‍♂️ Jan 27 Day 60 Rest n' rotation. Jan 28 Day 61 Ceasing grow ferts. Mixed 100% recommended bloom ferts (1/2 tsp) into 2L tap water. Fed with 1L as usual. I may consider increasing the dosage next time according to how she looks. Pruned 2-3 yellowing leaves from the very bottom interior. Jan 29 Day 62 Rest. No pics. Jan 30 Day 63 Fed with remaining solution, ~1L. Rotated. Another fine week. Her flowers are stacking and bulking up nicely. Hard to believe how much faster she's growing compared to my previous plant.

Last week saw healthy bud development so I'm just continuing the (pleasant) routine. After phasing out grow ferts last week, I'll be considering increasing the dosage of bloom this week if she looks capable. Jan 31 Day 64 Rest and rotation. Checked on trichomes which are maturing rather quickly. Will of course be keeping an eye on them but I'm hoping for at least 2 more weeks of bud development. Feb 1 Day 65 Mixed a slightly higher dosage than usual, ~0.75tsp bloom to 2L. Fed with ~1L. Will keep an eye on her leaves for any new tip burn as a result. Feb 2 Day 66 Seems fine after yesterday's increase in nutrients. Just rotated her and tucked a few leaves that were covering smaller buds. Feb 3 Day 67 Fed her with the remainder of the previous mix, ~1L. Rotated. Feb 4 Day 68 Rest and rotation. Feb 7 Day 70 Mixed another 2L of 150% recommended bloom ferts (0.75tsp). Fed with ~1L and rotated. Feb 8 Day 71 Rest / rotation. Another great week for this strain. Buds are quite dense in all the right ways and trichomes are getting cloudy. She's showing a bit more burn in the tips so I should probably cool down the feed back to recommended rates.

Life's been too busy to keep up with the diary, unfortunately. I did manage to snap some pics but haven't had time to do writeups. Essentially, I flushed her with a decreasing amount of tap/rain water mix until harvest time, which I believe was Feb 22, Day 86.

Though I, unfortunately, neglected the diary during her last weeks, she was healthy and easy to grow until the end and I'm very happy with the harvest weight. Dried for about 4 days at ~45RH. Decided to dry-trim, leaving most of the leaves on her while drying due to the low RH. Was a bit of a pain to clean her compared to wet-trimming, but not terrible. Doing so definitely seems to cause more keif to accumulate in the tray, which I don't think is ideal, but probably negligible. Final weight: 68g / ~2.4oz 🎉 Hope this diary has been helpful to someone out there! ✌️

I hope those aren't nanners in the last picture. Worried my bulk seed Trainwreck from NASC could be a boy one day and ruin things for me. It's listed as feminized on their site though.

I was also a bit worried after taking that pic but after recently harvesting my previous plant, which didn't have hermie issues, I noticed very similar growths on her. So I don't think it's harmful. Possibly just plump baby calyxes. Edit: I think this is a good article about what we're seeing: https://www.maximumyield.com/definition/282/calyx
