INDOOR GROWING
Strain: Shiva Skunk by Sensi Seeds
Number of seeds: 6 pcs
Time: 01 October 2022 - 10 January 2023
Lamp: LED Phytolite NX2 Full Cycle 250W (two of them)
Power (Watts): 2 * 250W = 500W
Area: 80 x 120 cm
This is my first experience with LED lighting - i used HPS lamps before. I'm curious how it will be.
6 (six) seeds were sown directly into the substrate, in six 20-liter pots.
The substrate was a 1/2 mixture of peat soil and coconut fiber with a small addition of perlite.
The room temperature was 23°C.
Watered once a day with a glass of water.
All sprouted in about a week.
NOTE:
I lost the memory card from my camera, which had a record of this cultivation since germination. That's why this diary starts from the tenth week - when the plants have already entered the flowering phase. To avoid such accidents in the future - i will keep this diary on an ongoing basis from now on.
I've already grown a Shiva Skunk once, and outdoors in harsh climatic conditions. It was a very satisfactory experience, both in terms of yield and quality. If you're intrusted - here's the diary of that grow ➝ https://growdiaries.com/diaries/158703-grow-journal-by-amadeo
Starting from seedlings, throughout the vegetative phase (which lasted 5 weeks), the plants were well nourished with HESI nutrients every third day :
· Root Complex - 5 ml / 1 l of water
· TNT Complex - 5 ml / 1 l of water
· SuperVit - 1 drop / 5 l of water
The room temperature was set at 26°C in light and 21°C in darkness.
I didn't use any techniques (no cuts or LST) - i wanted to see how Shiva Skunk was doing under the (LED) lamp and i wanted a quick harvest - around new year.
6th week :
The plants are 35-40 cm high, have 6 layers of leaves and look very healthy.
I think, i can go ahead and make autumn to them by changing the light cycle to 12/12.
Surely they'll grow at least twice as much, so it should be fine.
7th week :
The plants have rapidly accelerated their growth - they grow 2-3 cm every day.
8th week :
First signs of flowering - the 'hairs' start to appear, and by the end of the week they are in abundance on all plants.
9th week :
The flowering started in full swing, so i used HESI nutrients for this phase:
· Bloom Complex -- 5ml / 1l of water
· Phosphorus Plus -- 3ml / 1l of water
· SuperVit -- 1 drop / 5l of water
(every third day)
also :
· PowerZyme -- 2ml / 1l of water
· Boost -- 2ml / 1l of water
(every second week)
I also doubled the amount of water - from now on they will get 1/2 liter per plant a day.
10th week :
The smell begins to be felt - like a delicate musky perfume.
The plants are over half a meter tall, but have significantly slowed down their growth rate.
The buds are getting thicker and more numerous every day.
Trichomes begin to be visible to the naked eye on the buds and smaller leaves.
Nice view.
11th week :
Plants no longer grow upwards - they are now about 60 cm tall.
On the other hand the buds swell before the eyes, producing more and more resin.
By the end of the week some of the 'hairs' are starting to turn brown.
The smell is already very intense - musky.
Everything looks nice and healthy.
12th week :
Last week, when the plants stopped growing upwards - i brought the lamps a bit closer to the tops. Definitely unnecessarily - as it turns out - because the tips of the highest leaves slightly scorched. Now, in turn, i have raised them even higher. I'm just learning LEDs.
Apart from that - everything looks great.
13th week :
The buds have gained mass, till the stems bend under their weight. White turns to brown.
The glow of resin hurts the eyes, and the musky scent captivates.
I stopped fertilizing - only water from now on.
And i made winter to the plants, reducing the amount of light to 8 hours a day.
The harvest is approaching fast.
Just waiting for the best moment.
14th week :
The plants are mature enough to be harvested.
However, i prefer more mature ones - when the effect is less euphoric and more narcotic.
And that moment has not yet come.
So i'm still waiting.
15th week :
~ Before Harvest ~
The plants had not been watered at all for several days - on purpose - to keep them as little moisture as possible during harvest. That's why they look a little withered. Also for this reason it was difficult to tear off the leaves (very soft and fibrous) by hand, so i had to use scissors.
The reduced dose of light (up to 8 hours a day) for the last week over - also did its job, causing faster maturation of the buds. Under a magnifying glass (and even with the naked eye), the resin looks like milk - no longer like frost. A good time to harvest. I'm going to cut off the main stems just above the ground, to dry the plants slowly and whole - then they'll mature even more before they dry out completely.
Tomorrow's the harvest.
~ HARVEST ~
The plants were harvested - as planned - with a single cut just above the ground.
They were already devoid of all leaves, on which no resin was visible.
After cutting off - they were hung in a well-ventilated, cool and dark room.
They'll be hanging there in the dark for the next month. At least.
Then they will be thoroughly manicured, weighed and packed.
I'll try to document it. As well as the impressions of consumption.
Regarding the latter, i can already say something about it:
While picking the leaves, my hands were completely caked with resin, which has not happened to me in this amount yet. Yes, from 20 plants outdoors, but not six small ones indoors. With this i rolled two over 2-centimeter long rolls of hash with a diameter of about half a centimeter. This will be enough for me until all the plants are nicely dried.
I always smoke pure stuff (without tobacco etc) - two puffs of this hash in the morning is enough for the whole day until the evening. The smell and taste is amazing - very intensely chemical and piney at the same time. Long lasting. Just like high. Strong and pleasant.
I like it!
