starting my second grow! from my first experience, only trying 1 plant in the 2x2 space this time. Will cut the amount of water and nutrient work in half. going with Mephisto this time, although have to say that the Humboldt mint jelly was so amazing that I almost grew it again. decided i want variety though so may go back to that in april with my third grow.
using very light nutrients. the above concentration gave it ~115 ppm. seed popped to the top of the rapid rooter cube in only 24hrs!
increased the nutrients to 2 ml/gal grow a and b, which put it at about 190 ppm. plant developed roots touching the water bath on about day 6. looks great so far! roots extensive by day 10 and touching bottom of hydro tank.
seems ok so far. the leaves are really wrinkly, but there are almost no signs of nute burn or plant deficiencies. Thus, think it's going ok. upped to 300 ppm nutes at start of third week. about 6 clear nodes showing at day 19.
attempted to do some leaf tucking, but it's a really dense plant. tough to tuck!
I did start to burn the lower leaves with the 300 ppm nutes last week, but changed out the water entirely after 24 hours. keeping it real low from now on. currently at 185 ppm. hard to see in the video, but there are at least 8 nodes. flowers are also starting to pop so i'll switch to flower nutes at next change. light is 18" above and was turned up to 100% today. plant is insanely dense! video was taken after I tried and tried to leaf tuck. it's tough when it's a stout little dwarf like that.
also does give off a faint sour smell now. cool...
switched to bloom nutrients. Did extensive LST to pull the plant apart on day 30. seemed to do OK. main stem was very stout. nutrients at 215ppm on day 30.
all seems ok. there are some punctate yellow/brown spots on some leaves, but overall very healthy. light at 100/50 % full spectrum to IR by this point. still have not chopped anything. just doing leaf tucking as often as I have time.
all still chugging along. trichs became clearly visible on about day 44, which is similar timing to the mint jelly i just grew out. basically do leaf tucking every other day, but have not trimmed more than 4 or so leaves total over the life of the plant. by day 44, aroma is also getting pretty strong. fills up the room within 10 seconds of opening the door. strong sour smell with a hint of skunk at this point.
update: feel confident i'm not imagining this, but top bud is turning deep purple as of day 48. could it be a purple pheno?
not a big plant, but it reeks of sour skunk. i was slightly excessive with nutes, even though they were only at ~450. I think it's just more sensitive in deep water culture compared to other hydro techniques. dialed back to 300 and it freshened up a bit. buds are a bit behind/smaller than the humboldt mint jelly at this age, but the plant overall has potential to produce at least 10 good buds. not quite filling up the 2x2 space though. could have squeezed in 2 plants maybe.
day 52 update: removed about 15 leaves today that were covering up bud sites. plant is very frosty and super stinky.
Is this the purple phenotype? the purple color is bleeding into the fan leaves on the upper/more mature buds. it's beautiful with the orange pistils. thanks for your insight!

Reeks of sour something or other.
harvesting on day 65. this lady hasn't absorbed any nutrients in about 4 days and the trichs look good. She's been fun to grow, and also turned out to have some pink elements.
Strawberry nuggets was very sensitive in DWC for me. I never should have exceeded 450ppm. As far as the frostiness and yield, I'll report after dry measurements. Looks to be spot on with what they state on their website though, which is awesome. Haven't smoked yet, but the terps are super sour and super strong. very promising! will report back in 10 days.... till then my brothers and sisters.
