Looked through the ol' seeds bin and decided to take another Barneys Farm strain, Mimosa Evo (which is being used in another diary by itself) and a Square One Genetics Strain, Diamond Handz. I take the seeds and place them in a wet paper towel and then place all of it into a zip lock sandwich bag but leave it unzipped. I have had no issues.
This week we transplanted up from the seedling pot (roots already were coming out of the bottom) and into a 5 gallon plastic pot.
I also topped this girl at the third node just like its counterpart. I am topping because I will be Low Stress Training her to eventually be Scrogged.
She is growing incredibly. These leaves are as big as my hands. The topping stress wore off and we are getting two main sites beginning at the top of the plant.
I will be using Low Stress Training and Defoliating to control the shape and growth of this plant to prep for placing her under a Scrog Netting.
This plant is stout💪. I decided to remove the top fan leaves so that light could reach inside of the plant.
The goal is to get the branches/tops all on the same level.
Its been a good week with this girl. We were able to upgrade her into a new 2ft x 4ft grow tent.
With the bigger space it is much easier training. I have taken metal clothes hangers and used them as stakes to anchor the taller branches down as a means to flatten the canopy out.
I was able to go ahead and apply the 2ft x 4ft Scrog Netting from AC infinity and get her situated in preparation to fill out the netting as much as my patience will let me. (We all know the struggle) 😆✊
So, another week down and there was a small bump in the road. I had to go out of town and came back to some stressed out girls.
The Diamond Handz did not like that, but, a little underwatering is an easy fix. Giving her a good rinse and repeat and she's back ready for more growth.
This week has been awesome with more plant training into the trellis netting. I want to expand and flatten the tops for better light surface area and increase bud sites.
Early in the week I decided to organize the plants and tent a little better and reposition the plants as they were a little offset.
We are going to continue on with tying and tucking and spreading. I cannot wait to see what suprises this strain has, as I get the feeling her true colors will be wild.
This week I also show the HydroHalo system I have installed to better assist with watering these girls under the net.
There is a 5 gallon bucket with lid as resivior, tubing, T fittings x2, valves x2, a small submersible water pump, air pump with hose and air stone in the resivior to keep it aerated.
So this week we have actually already switched the lighting over to 12 on and 12 off but there aren't any signs of flower, I am dying to see this girl bloom..🤤
This is also a busy time for me as I'm more involved in the grow environment. It is this time as we are transitioning into flower that overall health and last minute pruning will be important so daily diligence is a must.
I typically start the flower time after I see the first signs of flower after I change over to flower light schedule. I've had plants take a couple days to show signs to almost 2 weeks after light change. Once I see the "cluster" beginning to form at the tops I count that as day 1 Flower.
There has been a lot of work to be done this week in prep for flower/early flower stage. Defoliating around netting and in tight spaces is quite the chore.....but it is 100% necessary.
We want these budsited to get the best access to the light, but also want to try our best not to overcrowd the space. Two things to consider when pruning is #1. Budsite not blocked from light. #2 you can see through the canopy (airflow).
We are easing into week 2 of flower and the excitement is building. The Diamond Handz by Square One Genetics has been a solid grower and has filled out well. We are starting to see the fruits of our labor and our patience for filling out the net.
This week we gave her another half feed of Down To Earths 4-4-4 and a half serving of Coast of Maines Buds and Blooms Fish Bone Meal. I do this as a top dress and gently work the dry amendments into the top layer of soil and then water it in.
From here I'm going to be very careful about removing excess foliage and will only take off yellow/dying leaves and anything that is necessary for plant health.
Wow....that's all I can say waching This girl change before my very eyes. She is already putting off some crazy smells. I knew she was going to be a knockout......ok.....all I have to do is get her to harvest. One more feed and then its just water until the end.
She is happy and healthy. Showing her colorful leaves here in week 4 of flower. I can't wait to see the final appearance as we glide towards the harvest.
This week, the Diamond Handz by Square One Genetics got........well sticky. She is frosting up nicely and smells like sweet candy. I am surprised by the stacking on these main branches 😃. There is not much to do for her as she has received her last feed already. All that is needed is wellness checks and watering.....I do not mind being in the Tent as the smells are soooooooooo Damn good 😏. I also tend to pluck out any yellowing or dying leaves until the end of flower!
Temps have been something I have been watching as the humidity has been in the 30% range on average so, here while it is winter I have started in-taking from the outside air and this girl loves it. I want to try and keep the temps in the 65 - 70 degree Fahrenheit. This Diamond Handz by Square One genetics is looking really fire with the dark purple hues coming in strong! I am starting to drool every time I open the tent as I cannot wait to spark some of this up😀😎😏
This girl has really darkened up. She was super frosty all the way through.
This Diamond Handz by Square One Genetics is looking soo damn sexy it is making it hard to be patient. I have been checking the trichomes and to my surprise they are pretty ripe. I'll be paying very close attention to her in the coming week and am planning the harvest ritual lol.
The smell from her is crazy sweet and is super loud.
This strain was amazing to grow and surprising for sure. She responded well to LST, and eventually SCROG. We had a underwatering issue (which is an easy fix) but this plant barely stressed at all.
I will 1000% be growing more of this strain.
