Day 63 - 28 of Flower Changes this week include adding a 4th Maxibright 315w lamp and Agro bulb. I wanted to run 4 but originally could only afford to buy 3. These retail at £250 each per kit so theres now £1000 just in lighting. A huge improvement to overall light spread around the plants and more light penetrating the canopy to the lower bud sights. I've also spent the weekend insulating my space for 2 reasons. Obviously temperature fluctuations being one. I found the temps were anywhere between 17 and 31 degrees throughout a 24 hour cycle and wanted to get a more consistent day and night temperature. With the extra light it needs to be cooler too. 2nd reason was humidity. With the great British weather being as damp as it is the night time humidity has been over 75% some days which now we are deep into flower could quickly lead to bud rot. Insulating the space and running my exterior AC unit has now got that figure to below 56% at all times. I'm very happy with that. Feeding ratio remains unchanged this week. I'm going to continue running the PK13/14 for at least another 7 days or untill the buds finish fattening out. Still feeding 6 litres every other day. No further training at this point just pulling a few colas out of the way of the fan and one main cola from directly under a lamp as it was burning. Also stretch has now finished which is a massive relief as I've no headspace left in the tent at all. I didn't have time to take many photos of the buds in the dark but the ones I have put on show just how frosty these stardawgs get! Really living up to their name considering they are only half way through predicted flower time. The only further upgrade I would like at this point is a proper co2 with digital regulator. I have however read that they dont benefit much from extra co2 from this point onwards?? What is everyone's thoughts on that? Obviously I have my natural co2 generator and will leave it in untill the end of the grow. I realise I really underestimated the size of these plants and 6 sativa dominant species is a stupid idea. The tent is just too packed so on the next run I'll opt for less and go with a scrog. Thanks for checking in! I cant wait to see how the next week plays out.

Grow Questions

My girls are 23 days old today! Roots have bust through my 20 litre smart pots. I'm staggered by the speed of them. I do however have a question for seasoned growers..... I have quite a lot of alge/green growth on the smart pots. Is this going to cause me a problem?

Green alge is fine, it can actually be used as a food source for the plant. Black mold is bad, if you see any black mold dispose of the plant immediately and totally sterilize your grow room/tent. Good luck 👍

Would love it if you guys could take a look over my photos/vids this week and give me advise on how long I have left and when ish to start flushing? Tomorrow is the start of their 6th week of flower. I'm not in any rush but really want to get it bang on and not flush too late.

Hello ! According to me the good answer is a mix between the 2 previous answers. One last feeding then flush like Athos told you ( based on the feeding chart ) and you should grab a magnifier to watch at the trichomes like Bulbi told you ( mine is x45 and I can perfectly see the trichomes without issue ) the good trichomes ratio for a mix effect is 100% cloudy (working with every hybrids , but need to be adjust for pure indica or sativa) but if you like to be a zombie in your sofa then go with 10/20% amber trichomes (hard stone for sur , with a narcotic effect ). So even if you wanna flush if your trichomes are all clear then you should wait . I hope it will help you 😛👍

2 more days and I will update my diary with some extra photos. Theres zero alge on the surface of my coco/pebble medium due to the gnatmix. The alge its slowly building up on the exterior of the fabric smart pots. Obviously this is down to the good draining properties of the medium and the nute mix is soaking into the fabric and exposed to lights. I kinda know the cause but mainly need to know if it's going to become more of an issue? I assume that once the plants grow to a canopy there wont be enough light for alge to survive but I dont want anything to jeopardise my first grow and I have no experience. Thanks for everyone's input at this point!

@TheIceCreamParlour, no need just wait till you're in flower is all good so far. keep an eye out for bad mold (black spots) but its all good at this point... stick with the plan ;-)

@CRiSPrGrow, I can definitely get humidity lower but my chart recommends 60-70%?? I have an air circulating fan blowing air around the tent right above the top of the leaves. Also have a smaller fan at the back just for the 2 pots furthest away from the main fan. I'll try humidity around 50% for this week then and see what happens.

My girls are having a really tough time since the last diary update. First week in flower and I found thrips throughout. I have smoke bombed and sprayed them which seems to have done the job. Also done a lot of defoliation in the lower areas. Will set up my scrog net as of next week to try and even out the bud sites.

@CRiSPrGrow, I fogged them while they were just finishing veg and it managed to sort the problem. If they come back in flower then I'll definitely take that advise mate!

@TheIceCreamParlour, yo fogging and spraying hardly works, only thing i can garantee that will work over time : buy a have delivered to your door live ladybugs. sounds crazy but its a done thing and actually the only thing that really works

Thanks for the quick response @DudeGrowsWeed. I did try to upload a pic but will have to add it to the the 4th week diary. Its definitely just green alge at the moment. Tent is 4 weeks old and conditions and cleanliness have been monitored twice if not 3 times per day. I will keep an eye on it!

@TheIceCreamParlour, But it sounds logically that hte Rockwool cubes take more water than the surrounding and algaes are built.

@TheIceCreamParlour, You're welcome. As long as its green, you should be fine. But keeping an eye on it is definitely a good idea too.

Just uploaded 4 pics of the trichomes on my 2nd largest plant. Think I've timed this flush absolutely perfect! (Without tooting my own horn) Now I've got a better magnifier and attached it to my phone camera I can see that theres around 5-8% amber trichomes on this plant. Will continue my 10 day flush as planned and chop them down this coming Sunday!!!!!!! 4 days to go!!

I've just added some pics of leaf damage I've found. Its come on rapidly over 48 hours. Only the largest top fan leaves have it and mabey only 2-3 on each plant. Decided to flush them for now and will go back to a light feed tonight.

Thanks dude! I picked up a 60 and 90x magnifying glass last week to keep an eye out for bugs. I know I'm way off right now but wondered how quick they go from cloudy to amber. Dont wont to overcook them and loose quality for the sake of quantity. I certainly have a good 2 weeks left of feed.

Forgot to add it to the diary but got my @fastbuds seeds today in the post. Put them on to germinate. I've gone for Six Shooter, Green Crack, Pineapple Express and Cream Cookies. Will put up a new diary when they have germinated.

@CRiSPrGrow, I've got the box well out of the way of anything and the pump above. Hasent given me any issues up to how and for the price I'm happy to give it a test. After this grow I'm looking to upgrade and go with a bottle and regulator system. Either that or my local hydroponic shop has the aerosol type with a timed release that's supposed to be pretty good.

Quick question guys so outside in a concealed but proper outside air flow environment, can/would my plants have the proper co2 available or provided for?
TheIceCreamParlour
TheIceCreamParlourcommentedweek 56 years ago
No idea why but its changed the units from inches to cm. Should be 18" lamp to plant and tallest plant was 14" right before I topped it.
TheIceCreamParlour
TheIceCreamParlourcommented6 years ago
@CRiSPrGrow, actually not far off! I started with 6 litres each pot but they took all of it with no run off. Gave them all another 3 and a bit litres each and still only about 10% run off but enough to take an EC and PH reading.

It does take ages to go from milky to amber to too far gone. Don't worry about going over the 'cliff' quickly. it doesn't happen like that. Maybe you should try a staggered harvest. I.E when you see an amber trichome on a bud, cut that bud off. It's done. Leave all the others to ripen and advance to that stage. I've done it in the past quite successfully

Hey ICP, yeah man there's really no other way to know than to check the trykes with a 70x microscope. I got mine on Amazon for 1.79 ... you're looking to have them 100% milky for maximum potency so you'll want to time your two week flush accordingly. Thing is even you if you get really close or use something like a 30x magnifier you wont really be able to tell. you're the only one really who can say that 's the thing. You'll see the cloudy trykes getting ripe. for reference a tryke takes around 2 weeks to get cloudy. hopefully yours will get ripe soon ! hope this helps 🚀
