My first grow!
24 hours in a glass of water. Transferred to moist paper towel on seed starter map. All popped. Planted 48 hours later in 5 gallon per-soaked fabric pot.
Soil is Fox Farms Ocean Forest

Should I defoliate the remaining primarily yellow-brown, water stress damaged leaves on the hulkberry, or are they functioning and contributing to the growth of the plant and not harming it?

Believe it or not they are contributing to photosynthesis. The green parts at least.
What I like to do is just take my snips and clip off the burnt edges.
