Third week finish ! A lot of things happened ahah 😁 Let's start at the beginning this week was very complete, I had to transplant the baby plants to give them the space they needed to grow. So I first started by creating my substrate, the detail of the composition with the percentages is present in the comment section of my first week :) After making the mixture, I made the distribution in my pots. With first, a first layer of clay ball at the bottom of each pot. As you can see, I chose 30 L textile pots, I grant you, it's substantial but I wanted to have room for my plants and their companions, a mistake on my part, surely, but I think it's not too bad. I then filled with my delicious fresh mixture and voila, everything is ready. So I started transplanting, the worst is yet to come. The mistake of having made the plugs myself is that it was too airy and therefore to take them out, it was impossible, at the risk of breaking the roots... 😭 Thanks to the advice of a group of friends, I took all my utensils and carefully cut the plastic in order to extract the block of my mixture as well as possible. Before putting them in the ground, I made a small hole to make room for them and add a little mycorrhiza at the bottom and on the roots. After this trying ordeal, I watered my young seedlings a little bit and I placed my pots in my previously prepared box (2 fans, extractor and carbon filter, my led panel currently set to 250 W at 50 cm seedlings). At the beginning, I had placed a dehumidifier but in the end I will only use it towards flowering. In order to help my plants, I added some friends in the pots, for this first test, I put alfalfa which will create a good contribution of green manure once I have cut it, and their roots will have created an interesting network for the constant aeration of the substrate. I also sowed some white clover and buckwheat seeds. Small point on one of my plants, the one that had somewhat misshapen leaves, well at first I was afraid that it wouldn't go well, but as you can see the following leaves are totally normal and constant, I'm really happy, she's a survivor! Thank you for your support and your waiting, there was a bug on the site, all my text written last Monday was not on my page and I was quite disappointed, so I waited again before rewriting my text for you because inspiration for me is important. I'm going to get ready to write and publish the week that just ended today 😀 See you soon my dear friends 💪

Grow Questions

I watered only 2L of water without nutrients this week (pot 30 L) You can see it on the diary photos, the plans have lost their colors (yellow). I wanted to know what exactly it was due to, because I read on the net a lack of nitrogen but I would like the expert opinion Thanks !

Early flower is when to increase phosphorous and potassium signifigantly and maintain adequate nitrogen levels, before reducing nitrogen mid flower. Often the lowest/oldest leaves going yellow at this stage can be atributed to a lack of light penetration down low. After looking at you diary, I would suggest your previous "cover crop/companion plants" have stripped a lot of the nutrients from the soil, so yes, a general lack of N/P/K would be a valid reason for the yellowing.

Hey there, I have just planted some of these myself, I will follow your grow my friend. If the person laughing at your English cannot speak your language, then they are the fool, no?

What are your companion plants?
Deckerno
Deckernocommented2 years ago
@UnorthadoxDude, ahah, you are right, I'm doing the same now 😂 (was so sad to lost my text...) Actually I've read a bit for the other plants but I'm not the best to talk about for now... Like PH, and nitrogen fixing ^^ thanks for the info. I've put some clover but not a lot, you'll see on the next photos. The buckwheat, I don't know, something like for not having bad weeds, and an add of green fertilizer. I've put a lot of alfalfa and not a lot of the two ones. Next one I think I will put some flowers found on RQS. And alfalfa too. Check the news pictures 😅 they grow fast, so you're right, I've cut it off quickly ^^ to not have shadow on my baby's

@Deckerno, Thanks for the reply! No worries about the delay I completely understand your situation. I had this problem recently and it was upsetting - so now I write my updates in a notepad on my computer and then copy-paste to here so I don't lose. Nice choices for companion with white clover and alfalfa, but these do exactly the same thing nitrogen fixing) so I am not sure you need both. I had alfalfa in my earlier grows and I found two problems with it: 1) it grows BIG 2) IT raises the substrate PH (or it did for me anyway, in coco lower PH). I think you may be pulling out the alfalfa in a few weeks. What does the buckwheat do?

Deckernocommented2 years ago
@UnorthadoxDude, Sorry for the delay in replying, I just updated the text from last week. There was a problem publishing my text and I didn't have the energy to rewrite what I had just written... Regarding the companion plants, I put some seeds (few) of white clover and buckwheat. And to facilitate the root network and satisfy my future contributions for the soil, I put alfalfa seeds in quantity 😉 Thanks for your support mister

Awesome diary my friend. I'll probably keep coming back to use your grow for reference. I'm about to grow nine of those babies myself starting in a couple weeks. I made the same mistake as you with the alfalfa in my current grow, it was surprising how they depleted nitrogen, so next round I'm making sure to give extra nitrogen. Sticking to the alfalfa seems like a good idea since they add so many benefits. Will be throwing in some oregano companions as well to bump yield a bit. Looking forward to your smoke report! I'm so stoked about these genetics! Peace 👊

Congratulations on getting into growing Cannabis friend! So one thing, Humidity and temperature play off of each other to form a 3rd even more important set point, VPD ( Vapor pressure deficit ) Your humidity, Is too high for your temperature right now. Read this article, Print off the chart and reference it. I log my numbers daily, https://cerescann.com/importance-of-measuring-vpd/ We have a tutorial series here on grow diaries and on youtube, I invite you to come check us out! We cover the day to day step by step in very detailed format. I look forward to seeing you over there and hearing your feedback!
