The soil I got seems to have come with friends. How do I get rid of little black flies in my soil? Should I deploy sticky traps? Will that be enough?

Those are called "fungus gnats" there are many things you can do to deal with these, personally I use diatomaceous earth by Gaia Greens. Spread a bit on top of the medium when the top layer is almost dry, the stuff is great for fighting the above and is a good source of silica. Two birds stoned at once. Use this along side the stickers and you will notice the population decrease until they are no longer a problem, another practice is conditioning the soil (a solution you water your medium with to kill any pathogens or bugs before you use it) hope this helps!

I do a 24 hour soak then plant in substrate. Im a newbie like you, and so far I am 4 for 4 with I have Another cooking I expect to see in pop in a day or two. So hopefully 5 for 5 Finished first harvest a few weeks ago GL enjoy it... There's plenty of ways to skin a cat, the right way is any way that works 😁 Try not to stress to much, but if your like me thats impossible. FortunatelyI Have absolutelyy fallen in love with the process and enjoy it thoroughly. Hope you do to.
