Background:
My second grow
The first time growing autoflower
Also never have grown sativa
But definitely trying hard

-Herbies Seeds
-82-87days?
Setup:
-240w led
-2.3'x2.3' grow tent
-humidifier

-camera
Planning:
-no topping(?)
-LST maybe Scrog(?)
-1 transplantation overall (confirmed)
-following the charts I made for this
7-14 days
-Light schedule switched from 24h down to 18h (d7)
-RH decreased from 75% to 70% (d12)
-Nutriments introduced (d12)
-DLI increased from 15 up to 25 (d13)
-Ventilation inside blowing toward plants (d13)
Week 3
Lowered humidity to 65% (d15)
Increased fresh air flow (d15)
The plants seems to drink water now (d17)
Gave 40mL each (d17)
Repotting to final pot will wait couple more days (d17)
Increasing nutriments to 2/2/2 mL mid week (d17)
Humidity down to 62% (d18)
Air out: 15m on / 30m off
Total water given = 1L
21-28 days
Pictures were taken at the moment of transplantation (d21)
I made sure not to overwater them (d21)
Made majors tweaking to room controls (d22)
Realized nothing was working properly (d22)
Room is very stable now (d23)
Pinched them very carefully with long nose pliers (d24)
#3 is lagging behind in a cute way (d24)
250mL 3-3-3 (d25)
[Pot] 16L
[Temp] 25°c
[RH] 62%
[DLI] 25 mol/d*m2
[Nutriments] 3-3-3mL
Humidity controller:
[ON] <= 59%
[TARGET] = 62%
[FAN1] >= 65%
[Alarm]<= 50% ; >= 70%
Temp controller:
[ON] <= 24°C
[TARGET] = 25°C
[FAN2] >= 26°C
[Alarm]<= 20°C ; >= 27°C
Plants fan controller:
[ON = 30m] [OFF = 30m]
Day 28-35
Mistake d28-29 (videos)
Shortly after transplantation, I tried to LST the plants by making a bend in the main line.
However, I did it too quickly and without proper preparation.
This ended up more like a HST.
The poorly developed roots suffered from the force coming from the bending.
I also happen to have increased the DLI from 25 to 30-32 which surely didn't help.
The result of this was stomped growth plus leaf scorch mainly caused from roots damage and lack of hydration/nutes intake.
Fortunately, they did a nice comeback during the following days.
Plants 1 and 3 survived the pinching d31
Plants 2 and 4 were topped from severe pinching d31
Grow room was updated to final setup d34
They are drinking like healthy plants d34
Controls setup:
DLI 32mol
RH 60%
Temp 24.8°C
Plants fan 30m/15m - on/off
Extract fan >= 25.3°C
Day 35-42
Plants are making a nice comeback (d36)
Some minor defoliation around the top was done during the last few days (d32-36)
I plan on increasing DLI to 40+ during next week.
Some defoliation + LST/leaf tucking + pinching (d38)
#3 has comeback nicely and has a unique phenotype compared to the 3 others (d38)
#4 has slowed down a little bit. The soil was more dry so maybe a lack of water/nutes intake (d38)
day 42-49
Finally the plants are happy and so are we
The grow tent is very stable
They can drink up to 0.7L daily (d45)
Gave them 1L each of plain water (d47)
Only 3 days after defol leaves are all over again (d48)
Given the fact I have limited room and growing sativa might be a challenge im trying to provoke flo by:
Increasing to their peak DLI during this week; letting them drink all their water; switching to 17h; did a major defoliation; installed a scrog; added more ventilation
Hard to believe they are to be harvested in 6 weeks, but we will see!
Definitely started flowering!
1 and 3 and the biggest plant; 2 and 4 need a little height adjustment
The flower look like what I would imagine a sativa would look like
I can tell it look very different from the northen light I grew
The plants are strong and drink more than I thought they would, maybe this is one downside of autoflowering and the high energy intake ongoing.
Day 57-63 (from seed)
One major defoliation was done (57)
Plant 1 (32''/80cm) and 3 (28''/70cm) keep stretching and stretching!
Those are the ones that didn't get top off but severely pinched
Plant 2 (22''/55cm) and 4 (20''/50cm) are doing fine
They are much shorter and have a bit less developed buds
The plants drink pretty much everyday
I keep the solution around 1200 ppm
The smell turned from sweet blueberry to very sulfuric-like pungent smell xD
Sheet says 21 more days until chop, my guess is at least 28 more days :)
2-8 april 2023
The plants are showing some signs of what I think is overfeeding: very dark leaves with some deformation
I will lower the ppm a little bit for the next week
The grow light is strong but I feel like it is lacking a little, felt the same way during my first grow
Hopefully the plants have stopped stretching, my small tent has reached its limit
The smell is.. hard to pinpoint!
It is a mix of blueberry and hot pepper!

Number 4 is very very short
For example, number 1 has more than twice its height
Also, #4 is much darker, more mature, and different looking
For comparison, #2 was also topped, but its height is almost the same as #3
However, #3 is the second most mature plant of all four
Number 1 and 3 are pretty similar in all aspects: not topped, tall, not close from ready
the height distribution and maturity are so different from each plant
along with the phenotype variations and methods applied to the plants
right now, it is very painful to manage my little grow tent
if I ever grow another 4 plants in this tent, I will apply a scrog from the beginning and never miss a day.
22-avril-2023
happy planet day
This week, number 4 and then number 2 were withdrawn from the tent
They are the shortest yet most mature plants
So they were put in another tent to help with space and light accessibility
It has been 85 days from seed
Strain harvest info says a period of 82-87 days
Number 4 could be harvested already, I think
Number 2 can wait couple more days
Number 1 and 3 will wait another 10-14 days?
29-avril-2023
Realized this week that 1&3 were receiving way to much light >50dli
I lowered the light intensity from 100% to 50-75%
Also, they were both flushed with water
While number 1 shows normal development, number 3 look very different
#3 has many mono leaves and also express some odd bud shape
However, number 3 has much more firm buds just like number 4 did
number 4 was harvested and yielded a little over 200g wet
harvested number 2 top colas which yielded 115g wet
the reason was because number 2 is the only one that smell the way he does - strong sweet ananas cookie dough
maybe the bottom buds will keep maturing
planning to harvest #1, the rest of #2 and #3 about 7 days from now
number 4 will be slowly drying during this week
From day 94 to day 100
Experimented with harvesting different parts of the plant.
For example, number 2 had top heads harvested 4 days before bottoms ones.
Clearly made a small impact on letting them mature further.
From day 106 to 113
Number 1: To me, this is the one that looked the most like a Sour Diesel plant, but I may be wrong.
Yield: 530g wet 75g dry
Number 2: Had the sweetest smell, something like sour dough with a strong fruit smell
Yield: 230g wet and 33g dry
Number 3: The weirdest buds shape but the most sturdy of the 4
Yield: 475g wet and 70g dry
Number 4: It was the smallest plant but had the most compact shape
Yield: 199g wet and 36g dry
All plants:
Yield: something like 1434g wet and 220g dry
Kinda ambivalent with the yield
I feel like none of the plants ever reached full maturity even the last one which took 14 weeks..!!
Was it a lack of nutes, of light, of room, of temps? Really, I have no idea!
However, 220g of auto sativa under 13 weeks beat my last grow which was the same amount of fem northern light in 16 weeks
It was very hard for me to grow these plants as my second grow. The main reason was the diversity of phenotypes plus the insane stretching making it hard to grow in a small tent.
Keeping a journal up-to-date is a challenge that forced myself to find ways to keep up. Along the journey, I found new ways to show my plants and tried a more artistic approach. Growdiaries is easy to use and it is fun to see other growers and what they do.
