This diary is to cover experiments on different techniques. The straight to soil germination method has worked exceedingly well for me, so I started with that. Since it is typically a single stem variety, I will be attempting several techniques to increase the number of growth shoots, including topping and super cropping. My first steps will be in the next few days, as the stem stretches to around 1.5". I plan to top immediately upon seeing the new growth between the first set of true leaves as well. I'll keep a good log for future reference here.
Day 4 I did the initial stem pinch and bend on day 2. You can't really see the spot unless it's under the hps lights, but it did cause a slight crease as expected and bounced back quickly. I'm spraying it with a water bottle to help keep the moisture up and then I'm waiting for the first growth shoot to poke out from between the first set of true leaves to begin topping.
Day 6 - second set of true leaves were out enough to top as early as possible. I've read conflicting information on topping a plant this early, and I'm curious as to the outcome. From my understanding, either the plant will die, or it will branch out very early and recover with plenty of time to get the most bud I can.
