Started in a small 1/2 gallon pot with ocean forest soil. Plan to use the small container for the whole grow and try some super cropping techniques for future grows. The description and other diaries I've seen show minimal branching, so I'm curious if the super cropping will impact it enough. I know my yield will be limited due to the container size, but the strain is 60 day maturity time, so I'm not expecting a monster plant anyways. I just want to keep a record of the experiments quite honestly.
This diary is to cover experiments on different techniques. The straight to soil germination method has worked exceedingly well for me, so I started with that. Since it is typically a single stem variety, I will be attempting several techniques to increase the number of growth shoots, including topping and super cropping. My first steps will be in the next few days, as the stem stretches to around 1.5". I plan to top immediately upon seeing the new growth between the first set of true leaves as well. I'll keep a good log for future reference here.
Day 4 I did the initial stem pinch and bend on day 2. You can't really see the spot unless it's under the hps lights, but it did cause a slight crease as expected and bounced back quickly. I'm spraying it with a water bottle to help keep the moisture up and then I'm waiting for the first growth shoot to poke out from between the first set of true leaves to begin topping.
Day 6 - second set of true leaves were out enough to top as early as possible. I've read conflicting information on topping a plant this early, and I'm curious as to the outcome. From my understanding, either the plant will die, or it will branch out very early and recover with plenty of time to get the most bud I can.
Topping recovery has been good! Topped the stronger of the 2 lead offs and I'm waiting for the split there. I'm surprised how quickly it bounced back from the first topping
Day 21 Waiting for the new growth on the second topping for the one branch. I'm curious to see the outcome from this experiment. The plant responded really well to the first topping, but this one has been slow, which I expected since I didn't really give it time to fully recover due to time constraints before beginning preflowering.
Second topping was too late and little bud receptors are growing it seems. But the side I only topped once is doing great
Cut off the side that was topped too late.
I'm not expecting too much for production, but it seems to be doing well.
Did some low stress training to start this week off. It's doing well considering the delay I put on it with the topping lol. I'm going to try another after this with just lst and hst rather than just topping.
So a good bit of growth this week. Preflowers are developing nicely. I keep stealth trimming it to keep the light blocking minimized, plus I think it looks cool lol.
This has been a great plant to experiment with. I learned a lot so far, and I still have one more of these seeds to try. It's got a great smell, and the trichome coverage is great so far
This little plant has a beautiful look and smell. The buds are fattening nicely for such a small plant, and it's pretty dense. The main stem is almost a solid looking bud lol
Just letting her ride it out. It's supposed to be a 63 day growth time, and so far that's looking accurate. She's fasting now for the last week or 2 of growth. I'm pretty anxious to try it out, and if it smokes like it looks and smells, I'm growing the other seed I have with more caution and maxing yield
