Trying regular seeds from Fast Buds for the first time. To be honest, I didn't realize they were regular seeds at first, I thought it was still an autoflower but with particularly rapid flowering.
Nevertheless, they are now in soil, and will see how these behave compared to the autos in terms of nutrient uptake etc.
The Setup:
- Seeds: Purple Lemonade Fast Flowering by Fast Buds
- Cabinet: Kivi Grow conversion kit for IKEA Platsa
- Nutrients: BioBizz (only using the basic ones this time and will add more if needed)
- Co2 Bag
I'll be trying different humidity controllers and mini humidifiers during this grow
All proceeding regularly here. Just like in the other box, humidity is looking low so humidifier testing will begin soon.
Nutrient schedule minimum for these seeds too, but I assume these will require more nutrients than the autoflowers.
I'm using light-mix soil but using the nutrient schedule for full-mix. As I mentioned, I really would like to avoid nutrient lock for once 😬
Finally received a couple of humidifiers to test from the local shop. These shitty low cost humidifiers will not really do, I can only have them on non stop until the water runs out. If I connect them to a sensor that switches them off, it won't go back on because it doesn't have a mechanical switch, I have to press on each time.
Still, let's see if this helps my poor dry leafs a little bit
Second week using the humidifier on and off as I don't have an automatic way to control it yet. The leafs seem to be quite foldy, but overall looking healthy.
All quite steady overall. Would really like to have some internal ventilation going on in this cabinet.
No nutrient lock in site so far. Mayme time to start adding a bit more nutrients, the leafs are looking a bit discolored and on the yellow side in some spots.
Similar problems than with the other plants, I left these with way too little water for a couple of days. The seem to have reacted better, being that they are not autos.
Increased CalMag on these too as I'm seeing some rusty spots on the lower leafs.
Got myself a fresh packet of LST clips and did a nice defoliation session and started to bend as much as possible.
I'm not topping on this grow, I wan to try and have a center cola and a series of smaller buds arounds it, at the same height, but lower than the main cola. No real reason, just felt like trying this way :D
All going well with these 2. They definitely took the weeks of watering abuse better than the autoflowers. Let's see if the flowering starts to accelerate, so far I'm not seeing much Fast from these Fast Flowerings :D
Plants still going strong. Starting to look a bit limy green so I'm slowly increasing the amount of BioGrow.
Happy to say that so far I've not had any CalMag issues and I haven't gone overboard with nutrients :D
These regulars really have shown to be a lot more tolerant to mistakes compared to the autoflowering variety
Still great progress from these regular Purple Lemonade plants. Unlike the auto version, the leafs are taking a lot longer to turn purple, but the amount of crystals seems on these is much higher. Added more BioGrow over the last week to try and get rid of that lime green color in the leafs and it looks like it's working. Also upped the nutrient values to proper levels. Everything growing nicely, no nutrient lock and only the slightest signs of nutrient burn on the slowest developing of the 2.
Still going strong and pretty much no changes since last week, other than a few insects flying around. Nothing a couple of sticky traps couldn't solve.
Hopefully this is the last of my watering related problems.
Another week of uneventful progress. The smell of these 2 plants is becoming very intense. I changed the activated carbon in the filter and it's almost all gone, but incredibly I can still smell it a bit. No idea how many weeks out I am. A few hairs have started to turn orange.
Another great week for these 2. Lots of new crystals forming on the left one. I lowered the nutrient schedule for one week as I didn't want to ignore those early signs on one of the plants. Truth be told, if I had made 2 different nutrient solutions I could have still given full strength to one of them.
Nevertheless, they are looking great.
The smell however is a bit of an issue. The situation with the autos was 100% under control, zero smell issues. Not the case with this one. I even installed a new air filter and it still smell a tiny bit. It really is a micro amount, but it's annoying. First time I've had to think about any smell with this IKEA setup.
Also, so far these don't look much like the real Purple Lemonade. The autos became really dark quite rapidly, I'm not sure these will get as dark.
Another week of slow progress. Plants have been getting the max amount of nutrients for a few weeks now, and thc crystals are forming like snow.
Still looking quite different from the Purple Lemonade Auto. The smell is still a bit annoying. It's not such a danky smell, but some terpenes seem to be only partially filtered. Nothing that a small room air filter wouldn't solve, but still. Might have to look into different terpenes that are know to be resistant to activated carbon filters.
Overall though, strong plants. looking very good. I seem to have overwatered one of them yet again as a few bugs started to fly around, so let's see if anything tries to sabotage the last stages :D
Started to flush one of the 2 plants. Using pH 6.5 water without anything else.
Last couple of feeds for the second one which is about 1 week behind.
Have to say that despite my initial skepticism, the dark purple, almost black in the leafs has gradually appeared. Not as deep as with the autoflowers, and nowhere as sudden. The amount of crystals is much higher in these FF ones.
Hopefully I don't pull any dumb mistake in the last few days so I can have a no stress dry/cure.
Second flush week for one of the 2 plants and beginning of flushing for the second one.
The first one is likely to come down in a couple of days. I'm still kinda guessing as I don't have anything to magnify the crystals enough to see how dark they are. Next grow maybe :)
This is by far my best grow, both plants had very little stress and look and smell amazing, giving me high hopes for an easy cure. I chose this strain because I loooove the taste and smell. I love limonene as a terpen, but it's really hard to totally get rid of the smell.
Very curious to see how it compares to the autoflower version when vaped.
Thought I would have harvested already, but from the little I'm able to see, there still aren't really many, if any amber colored thc crystals, so I might wait some more days.
The second plant remains 1 week or so behind but might soon catch up and they could come down at the same time.
Still only flushing with water, some leafs are starting to curl and dry off. I'm just a bit paranoid that it is time to cut, I'm just not seeing the amber color because the camera can't pick it up. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
For a lover of the auto version of this strain, this was really easy and fun to grow. It's a shame I was too lazy to do some topping at the beginning, I could have had a much bigger yield. Not sure the extra time can be really justified, will probably grow the auto version again in the future
The strain has proven to be extremely sturdy compared to the autoflower version. The smell has been a bit problematic. Some terpenes just can't seem to be tamed even with a brand new carbon air filter. I hope this pays off in terms of aroma quality :)
@GrowWithFlow, thanks! Yea, very small setup and light, yet best grams/watts ratio I've ever had 😀
3500K Samung leds, 50w MeanWell driver. Quite minimalistic, but it works great.
Much love ❤️💛💚
Heyy,
Thanks a bunch for growing our genetics, and sharing this diary with us!
We hope that it was a nice experience
Have a good one, and happy harvest :)
