Planted directly into a 50/50 mix of FFOF and FFHF with a center of just FFHF to start the seed. No growth yet on day two hopefully they sprout soon. Seed finally came up 3/3!
The first true leaves have started to come in. I am having to add another light because I don’t think it’s getting enough light to support proper growth. Exciting to see my first seed coming through!
I think adding more light has really helped, I hope to have a grow tent and better lights for the next grow. I can say I’m truly loving this experience seeing a seed I put into some dirt turn into my little bud! I also switched from tap water to distilled water until I can get a ph meter and test the hardness I feel it’s best to stick with regular distilled water.
After playing with the height of my two lights, both of them are just cheapies, the leaves straightened out and the growth has really taken off this week. It’s only day three of week three and the amount of leaves coming up is astonishing. I’m thinking the end of this week or maybe beginning of next week I may start LST but as it’s my first grow I may skip that step I’m afraid I’ll break the stem. For sure I won’t be topping, as I am without a proper grow light or a tent I fear as the plant grows it will already be under enough stress from inadequate conditions and I don’t won’t to add more stress causing it to stunt or herm on me. All in all I know I’ve found a new hobby and I’m enjoying every second of it.
This week I tried some gentle LST by just bending the main branch over every day once or twice a day I didn’t use tie downs, I figured for my first grow I’ll keep it as simple as possible and see if I can even get it to harvest. It has definitely grown this week from last, and seems to be liking the 50-50 mix of FFOF and FFHF. I have noticed some yellow on the tips of a few leaves I’m assuming it’s cal mad deficiency comparing with others pictures but it’s minor. I have to say fast buds has a very hearty strain here it withstands well despite not having quite enough light, but I hope that’s something I can change in the future grows. I just worry that when she flips to flower she will struggle more under my lighting configuration and fox tail or larf out. That being said I’m intrigued to see what happens and see what she produces. I see her getting into a stretch getting taller daily and wanting more frequent watering I’m assuming I’ll start to see flower in week 5 or maybe 6. All in all I’m very happy for my first grow and the fast buds northern lights, I agree with others that say this strain is resilient. Happy growing!
I’m a little behind uploading pictures I know this week was kinda crazy. Brought the girl inside from the garage she seems to be acclimating to the temp changes. Still no flower yet but I’m seeing growth still so I’m happy. There is some discoloration to the leaves so I’m going to be top dressing with Dr earth in the next week. I’ve been doing some branch bending to even out my canopy no tie downs just bending once or twice a day on main stem and seeing good results.I did do some defoliating on some of the bigger fan leaves along with leaf tucking and I hope to start seeing flower soon it says it usually starts around week five but nothing yet.
This week shows early flower formation with pistils! I added Dr earth 5 days ago and it has helped with leaf discoloration immensely on new growth. I couldn’t find the bloom so I used a basic all purpose formula. I will definitely be doing this on all future grows as topdressing defiantly helped get things going back in the right direction. I have done leaf tucking daily but have been able to stop LST as the canopy is mostly even now and I’m just letting her do her thing. Happy growing and thank you for stopping by my first grow!
This week about day 46 or so I did a heavy defoliation and some branch bending/LST to get more light to the newly forming bud sites as well as to even out the canopy a little more. She is requesting a little more frequent watering about every 2-3 days and I go until I see run off and I let the run off sit for about 8-12 hrs to allow the medium to absorb as much as it wants then dump off the remaining. I am starting to notice a slight smell now that the flowing has started it’s very earthy and kind of like fresh grass. After adding the Dr earth last week I have not seen any more yellowing of my leaves which is a huge relief. At this point I’m going to be as hands off as I can some simple fan leaf tucking and maybe some branch bending to keep the smaller bud sites open to light as they seem to be swallowed up after a day or two and the fan leaves raise back up. I would like to find Dr earth bloom to add as a top dress either this week or next if I can find it just to give it a little more of a boost. I’m trying to keep this grow as organic as possible and probably will continue to be my niche for every grow going forward until I have it perfectly dialed in. I’m not seeing much more of a stretch and assume this plant will be a little stalky girl I’m hoping the main colas fill out decently and I’m hoping by the next grow I have a better light set up that may help my production of bud sites when she flips to flower. I also plan to start a more detailed journal at home that specifies what days into the grow I do what for better accuracy and to improve future grows. I just hope I get at least some harvest on my first try! Happy growing thanks for stopping by!
A little behind on posting but the growth is crazy this week! It has really gotten taller which I did not expect. I’m starting to see trichomes build up on some of the sugar leaves as well as more pistil growth to the flower sites. I’m seeing some deficient show through and I’m going to add tiger bloom to water starting week 8 mixed with big bloom to try to get a little more action out of my flowers. I’m liking the pistil growth but would like to see some more bud formation in with the pistil formations. I’m having to do a lot of leaf tucking as well to try and keep the bud sites open to light and the fan leaves are reaching up and covering up some of the bud sites. Happy growing all see y’all next week!
Into week 9 have added big bloom and tiger bloom to the mix about 2tbsp of each to 1 gal of water and feeding with that every other watering. This girl is definitely taking her time with the flower stage, I’m not seeing the explosive bud growth I hear about she is more of a slow and steady wins the race. I do notice some nice trichome formation on the bud sites as well as a lot of stigmas shooting up now to just see the flower itself fill in! I’m guessing this grow will go at least 3 or 4 more weeks at this rate which is slower than I would like but good things come to those who wait right lol! Happy growing to all!
@NWC_Cigars420, agreed, I adjusted the height of the lights a few inches after adding the second light source and she’s looking happier on week three so far! Thank you I’m excited that’s it’s even grown this much considering it’s my first ever attempt!
