Germination was done in Fox Farms Soil, Ocean Forrest, and Happy Frog Mix. Germination was accomplished in Plastic shot cups inside a germination box on top of a germination heating pad to increase media temp to 75F to 77F. Seedlings popped 4 days after the first watering.
Week one goes fast. Lots of growth and very little work to get it. Making sure the lighting isn't too much and that im not overwatering. No nutes yet. I have a small fan running to promote trunk growth and girth. This also helps evap any excess water that may cause mold growth. I also occasionally mist the seedlings with RO/Tap water mix.
Growing fast but not too leggy. Will be topping in 5 days. Same watering, and lighting schedule as the first week. I will be adding cal-mag and a pinch of Epsom salt next week as the soil I am using does lack in salts. I added worm castings I purchased from Home Depot to the water and made a worm poo tea to add some extra nutes and biologicals. They seem to be doing wonders as I've not had such fast growth in as short a time. I also started playing some classical music during the light cycle so between the worm castings and the music I am diggin the improved growth.
Added Cal-Mag 2 tsp to the water for the first time just to boost the plants a bit. No real changes from last week. The growth on this strain is just awesome. The trunks are already showing girth and the leaves are nice and thick and green. No signs of deficiencies yet. Knock on wood. Humidity is a little high this week but does not seem to be affecting the plants yet. I've got fans running at ground level and above the lights for constant circulation. I have also added C02 from a DIY Co2 generator. Made with a 5-gallon Home Depot bucket, sugar, and yeast setup. I'm getting about 1200 ppm of CO2 which really surprised me. This runs during daylight hours via an air pump on the lights timer.
Adding numbers in measurements on some of these on the site's charting isn't really accurate as you cant list Co2 by liters or gallons with this setup but I hope just describing it here helps.
Good growth this week. No major issues. No changes from last week. Same feeding schedule. Having issues with fungus gnats in the other half of the tent but nothing on this side.
Flowering right along. No major changes. I've cut the nutes by half and am only adding ever 3 feedings. There was a bit of burning on the leaf tips so this should fix that.
Buds a poppin'. Looking good. No changes in nutrients or lighting. Summer is definitely upon us here in the desert so keeping the heat down is getting to be a pain in the butt. Other than that nothing else to report.
No major changes this week. Bud growth is moving right along. These ladies are super leggy despite the light they are getting. If I do these again they are getting LST from node 2. Although I have usually not gone so hard with LST in the past thinking the bigger the plant the bigger the yield. But this is not the case and going forward Im thinking everything goes into the Flowering tent at 2ft max.
Getting to the end of the road with these ladies. This last week has been flush flush flush. Trichomes are at maybe 50% amber so fingers crossed 70% this next weekend.
Harvest went well. Killed the lights for 2 days and then chopped them at the soil line and hung them. As we have zero humidity here or very low humidity it only took 3 days to dry. Once the stems snapped when bent I trimmed and jarred. Curing for the next 2 or 3 weeks. I'll be curing 2oz of this for a year for some elite smoke. After curing I expect to have roughly 5oz or 6oz in total from 4 plants. The only thing I would change and am changing in the future is flipping them sooner. I used to let my plants get quite a bit of growth on them before flipping and I've learned that this is not necessary. Overall it was a fun grow.
Nice setup! Have fun this round. I also use warm castings tea in my hydro when I have ph drops. Works wonders, nice to see it works for you as well.
The classical music I still need to try 😂
@RedEyedSmoker, Thanks :) I've not tried the music in the 13 years I've been growing before so it will be interesting to see what happens. It does seem to be making a difference but only in the slightest. I am not a huge fan of Classical music so it's kind of irritating to listen to when I'm in the grow room but if it does anything for the plants I can put up with it.
@yan402, Yeah tell me about it. I love this strain. I've never had such great results with any other of my grows. Well actually a few years back I had a similar grow with Northern Lights. So I have very high hopes for a huge yield on this one.
