Start week two, all ladies have darkened up with increased feeding strength, but it's not quite there yet. All ladies are working on their sixth set of nodes, so this was FIMed as my grow tent is vertically challenged and it's my first attempt at growing this strain. They will receive no further training this week, and upon drying the remaining two still in one gallon fabric pots will be up potted to a three-gallon fabric pot. 3/15 Day 9 Veg - Im starting to notice a few subtle differences between the plants, one is roughly seven inches tall and has a twist in one of its fan leaves that predominate on every new node. Another is six and one quarter inches tall and since being FIM'ed she has bushed out which was the desired effect. The final lady, which was up potted very early on to a three gallon from a one gallon, is seven and one-half inches tall, and shows no signs of shock. The goal is to prepare for a SCROG, while being old enough to take clones and be transplanted before hand. I dont see any of this being a problem, and if two ladies are stretchy that only helps fill the SCROG until the bush catches up.

2/23 - All ladies have been moved to their final containers of three-gallon fabric pots, I picked up some elevated disks to create some space between the bottom of the pots and the saucer. The largest lady dubbed Pain shrugged off the FIM and is progressing into the net. Currently her internodes are very far apart but closer to the net they tighten up nicely. I would assume if the stretch and vigor remain, she will fill the majority of her side before the others catch up. One of the issues that I ran into with at least one of the bushier indica variations happened during the FIM. I apparently FIMed three sets of emerging fan leaves instead of two, so the recovery time has been longer. That being said there is a thick set of six branches waiting to reach the screen. On a final note, the ladies are receiving only PH'd water for the time being, the soil is a little too hot but the ppms are going down with each successive flush. All ladies have been sexed and are waiting to go, I am waiting for maturity to take clones which comes with staggered nodes. 2/25 - Tucking and tying while waiting for the others to catch up.

The beginning of week four is looking good, and the two healthy ladies have bounced back from the small number of clones that I took. As always, the sativa'ish lady threatens to fill the SCROG herself, but her node growth is perfect for this particular netting. It just so happens that as each new node forms fills two slots quite nicely, while the main shoot gets pushed into another slot. I've got some vertical growth to work with before I reach my limit, but I think I'm going to have to continue to tuck into week two of flowering. Her lower growth with regards to new shoots have been removed but being that she isn't heavy on leaves I decided to leave them all intact. The next healthy lady has tight internodes and it's going to suck to remove the lower nodes, however this too shall pass. She is finally emerging through the screen after working on her roots and recovering from four clones being taken. Other than that, once she fills the net a little more, I will defoliate a little and possibly lollipop her. If she can give up four branches as clones and continue growing, I think she's ready but only time will tell. My last lady, no idea what's going on, she won't wilt, she won't show visible growth and her leaves are starting to lose that dark green color. Her runoff is 6.8 @ 1200ppm so she's not out of range and or overloaded on nutrients. The only think I can think of as there were zero issues transplanting any of these ladies, would have to be the filler soil I used to up pot her. If there is no visible change in a week when I get ready to flip, ill likely cut a square hole in the SCROG and allow her to stretch naturally so as not to limit growth any further. This will a little LST should result in something manageable. Out of the six clones that we're taken, both sativa variants have resumed growth and or at the very least, they have re-oriented themselves to the light and look strong. Two of the indica variant have also oriented themselves, but none have shown signs of roots protruding yet. Finally, the last two still appear somewhat wilted, but I'm confident that my super high tech cloning bin, with saran wrap technology will deliver results. In closing, time is against me as the net fills, my only option is to direct all new growth to the opposite side of the net and try to compensate. I would prefer to have more developed roots, and a much thicker main stalk but its worlds better than my last grow which resulted in roughly 6oz of dispensary bud.

Hello, I need to solve a feeding issue, my lady is in transition and very well into veg; Her medium is noticeably dry in 48 hours and requires roughly a gallon and a half of water to feed. How can I feed daily, the ppm's are low @ around 530 since she's thirsty? Thank you!.

you should always irrigate until entire volume is saturated, wait for top 1" to dry and repeat... how often and how concentrated your fetilizer is depends on multiple factors.. primarily how often you fertilize vs water-only. if the drinking of the plant warrants daily irrigations, do it... do you have to wait for top 1" to dry? not really, but you may get some algea and increase risk to something actually harmful with a constantly wet substrate. Some minimum loss of water-mass should occur before re-irrigating. your drainage qualities of substrate, the size of the plant and the size of the pot will dictate whether or not it is feasible. you only hve 20% perlite+vermiculite, so your drainage qualiteis are not optimal for such a method of irrigation. Wait until the pot loses at least half of its weight when recently watered. this will be well before 1" is dry up top, if you want to try pushing it. evaporation occurs at a fairly slow rate - surface to volume ratio limits exposure to some extent to atmosphere. in a matter of 2-3 even 5 days evaporation should not cause a problem whatsoever. look to other causes and other ways to manipulate the results you want. if you want to feed daily, go soilless. buy 100% soluble and chelated 'hydro' nutes.. improve drainage quality with 50/50 sphagnum peat to perlite or 70/30 coco to perlite (vermiculite is also a valid option as are other things) large chunks of anything or 'logs' (sticks and shit) are not a good thing to have. some fibrous material is good.. you want fluffy and airy. you need the right sized pot and plant for this to work smoothly.. when they are drinking fast enough you can do 2-3 fertigations a day if you want... or if the dynamics only allow 1/day stick to that... think some sources recommend a 25-33% "dryback" which really means loss of water weight, preferably the vast majority from the plant drinking vs evaporation.

Ladies are doing well and have recovered from Defoliation. The largest will enter day one flowering tomorrow, while the rest take a few more days to recover. Canopy growth is strong and I expect almost every cell to have a bud growing out of it. In total, I hope to get to at least 70% of the scrog filled in flowering. I skipped on the nutrients to flush my soil for transition and I can see the lightning of their leaves. That being said I installed a dripper and a reservoir to automate feeding in the future. This should allow me to at least keep the soil damp in flower, and reduce the time I spend in my tent. There are no problems, and add long as I get the nutrients down we should see some good bud growth!

4/13 We are now entering the actual week one of flowering for my sativa beauty. Generally, I count the stretch as transition and not real flowering, once the growth stops or slows ill start the flowering clock. This approach coupled with LED's has provided close to breeder promises with regards to flowering times as they tend to mature a little slower. Since flipping, there has been a weather change in my area which is making this slightly hotter, my tent now sits around 85 degrees and apparently apart from drinking a gallon a day the ladies love it. The two larger plants are beginning to require daily irrigation to avoid the medium drying out which is what I'm attempting to achieve. I was feeding around a gallon and a half every other day, but I changed to roughly a gallon and some runoff daily which seems to be working. I was worried about over feeding but it seems I'm under feeding her. Generally, her leaves had a yellow tinge to them, but as the pictures show three days and a stronger regiment has led to a slightly darker profile. Training so far has been defoliation in the form of removing larger fan leaves and those crowding emerging tops. This has led to a boom in shoots trying to become the one, but in the end they all bend the knee. Additional training is in the form of LST with some highly visible string, this is the most effective and time-consuming part of my routine but its only for a few weeks and then things get boring. Finally, I have some 90-degree clips which help fight the new growth, it keeps them in place for 24 hours and allows them to harden up a bit. From here, I simply play musical chairs and further restrain this vigorous female. In closing for today, this is my second attempt at running a screen so I'm sure there's a lot to learn, hopefully nothing gets screwed up and we see some good genetics in the reproductive department. The sativa lady does have some of the thickest and most at attention stigmas I've seen in a minute outside of hydro, I can only assume things are dialed in and she has a strong root system.

4/18 Feedings have become daily just about, the UVA bar is in use for four hours a day, and there was a defoliation to mark week three. Bud development looks good for the largest of the three. The other two are roughly entering flowering or are in transition. So far I have yet to encounter any issues with ph or deficiencies, so hopefully this carries through to harvest. Equipment wise, I cleaned my reservoir as there was some build up to ensure my ph remains stable. My lights were moved to the highest position, and my tops are at their maximum height. I may have to reduce the power if the tops start to burn, but so far, no signs of stress. Lastly, all tools were cleaned and maintained. In closing, this strain claims six to seven weeks for harvest. We have a minimum of three weeks before we eyeball the quality of our crop. I assume realistically, based on the environment and my ladies' thirst that we'll come close to the seven-week window at least with the sativa. 4/20 Ambient temperatures have fallen as of late, so the tent isn't running so hard which is a win. Additionally, the largest indica leaning lady in the tent is in full stretch and roughly week two of flowering, unfortunately her growth is very thick and hardened. This means that traditionally means likely won't train her so I may have to back building and hope that she takes to it.

I am very please with the results thus far, I was blessed with stable genetics and a green thumb. I believe the sativa variant has stopped stretching finally and is solely focused on bud development. After some trimming I noticed that her smell is quite distinct and strongly resembles citrus mixed with gasoline. Her buds are all small pyramids and will hopefully swell in the coming weeks. The other two indica variants are catching up with regards to filling the scrog. The closest in maturity has started filling in nicely and reached the height of her sativa friend. The last indica is starting to come through the net finally but she's well into week two or early week three so no idea if she will catch up height wise. GL on your grows!

@Sharkyd, Thank you!!, It's kind of a Zen thing, being able to direct growth and see how she is doing every day makes it worth it. I am just happy that they are doing well with the stress of screen. Took a peek at your journal, nice explosive growth you appear to be in full development and that recovery time after defoliation, great job!
