As we will see later, these factors affect different processes of the plant, such as transpiration or nutrient uptake. However, we usually forget about another important factor that is related to the aforementioned ones: vapor pressure deficit or VPD. Broadly speaking, VPD is the difference between the amount of water vapor that the atmosphere is able to retain (which depends on temperature) and the amount of water vapor contained in it (relative humidity). It is usually measured in kilopascals (kPa).Providing our plants with a correct relationship between temperature and relative moisture will keep us on the right VPD parameters, increasing the plantโs activity and thus improving its growth and showing its full potential during the flowering phase. The ideal would be to adjust both parameters (temperature and humidity) to get the best possible VPD value, so that the development of plants will be amazing. In the chart above you can see the right temperature and moisture values to maximize the development of cannabis plants. The green zone shows you optimal values of VPD, in which it would be ideal to maintain the environment. The orange zone shows correct values, in which plants should not have problems to develop normally. However, red areas show values in which your plants will be very far from hit their full potential, since the relation between temperature and moisture is not optimal. With relatively high values of VPD (between 5 and 12) plants tend to open their stomata and release a considerable amount of water vapor into the environment (increasing their transpiration). This increase in transpiration results in an increase in the plantโs photosynthetic activity, which will need more nutrients and will improve its overall growth, both during growth and bloom. The best range is between 7.5 and 10.5, which we have marked in green. However, we must be careful that VPD is not too high (dark red zone) since the plant would close its stomata to avoid releasing too much water vapor to the environment, which would result in fast dehydration due to excessive transpiration. On the other hand, if VPD is too low (light red zone), the plant will also close its stomata for not releasing more water into the atmosphere, which in this case would be already saturated (it would have reached the maximum water retention capacity in a specific temperature). In this way, reducing transpiration will also reduce photosynthesis, which has a direct impact on the plantโs development and yield. That way, VPD is essential when it comes to offer the best conditions for the development of plants, also to understand its water requirements according to the nutrients used and thus adjust them correctly to meet the growerโs expectations.N/B: SAY NO TO DRUGS-[Day 35]Canalising and directing the energy's ( did you heard that GONG! ?). @JUNGLE_B4RNS, I'm about to get one more in there with a carbon filter because Iwhen I went outside to garden it smells a lot like the indoor garden. I have a strong sense that the odor isn't going to become more subtle.
@JUNGLE_B4RNS,I now have them all on individual diets but have been doing everything by hand. Now it's just a matter of experience which is why these diaries are so valuable. I did not expect such different looking buds on what started out as 3 similar looking plants and know why they were hesitant to recommend the two more unusual looking ones for a first grow. I think fall will be easier because the temperatures will be more ideal. Also using seeds, chosing hardier strains, longer veg, way fewer nutrients, individual trellises, proactive pest prevention, more fans. (I honestly thought the fans were just to keep them cool and why would anyone blast fans on buds, wouldn't that just blow trichomes everywhere..). Many thanks for your help and your efforts here with your diaries.
Barnes. I see what you mean by push. Your lovely shiva's bio states 7-8 wks to harvest, you harvested on 12th week!
I am curious about how you managed your nutes. Going to check your Diary.
Congrats on a beautiful grow. She didn't disappoint!. ;-)
@Mr_Positivo, she was using around 200ppm every 4 days approximately (around 50ppm/day) at the end of her life cycle. To resume I stop feeding them when they show the first signs of the Fall and I flush them when they are ready to harvest to accelerate the Fall and to finish them entirely.
@Mr_Positivo, I have stop feeding a few weeks before harvest letting it run on the media , then I've flushed her leaving only around 300ppm's in the media a week n a half before cutting , she took around 10 days to finish herself properly.
By 3 leaves do u mean 3 fan leaves on the same node where most strains and phenos have 2 if so what does it indicate any idea as I have a gorilla with the same thing I think
@Grimbol,one of the Shiva's is making pink/purple flowers, to small for the moment to take a good shot, I will add pictures of the fenotype it the next days .
@TheFairyBudMother, dang skippy! I agree with u. It's always nice to be able to look at stellar grows, knowin one day I will be a master grower ๐
Smoke the bomb stay calm and grow on! ๐ฑ
@Green_inda_scene, Yeah I'm going to miss his diaries until he fires up another crop. They are like a template for learning to grow cannabis and serious weed porn.
Beautiful @JUNGLE_B4RNS! There starting to fill out nicely! Looks like you got nice spacing in-between for good airflow as well. Can't wait to see how they progress and I definitely want to see a picture of those pink/purple flowers too :-) ๐๐๐
@ElevatedThinking,yes , airflow is really important for gaz exchange and to avoid mold.
I've never seen a purple/pink Shiva Skunk, I will upload pictures as soon as possible .
I have my eye on your shiva, Barns. I discovered I like the skunk strain effects very much. Especially on a road trip as a passenger. ha ha. Keep up the good work brother, harvesting soon by the looks. I hope you have lots of girlfriends who love trimming.
@Mr_Positivo, haha, Skunk #1 and all the family tree has been designed by Dutch men's, those guys are super highly skilled in growing Cannabis. That Shiva Skunk is dark brown full of ambers trichomes, it's gonna be more a knockout than a couch lock effects, they will be harvested tomorrow. I don't let my buds trimmed by anyone, I'm a bit maniac on how a bud must be trimmed perfectly without destroying everything... I trim everything on my own like this I'm sure the job is done perfectly ๐
@Mr_Positivo,the Super Skunks, those ladies gonna give a good yield. But the Y Griega got the most nicest smell, I've had some issues with that plant otherwise I think it has a big potential, I might run a full crop in May 2018.
@TheFairyBudMother,Thanks . It's better to trim the legs , you avoid wasting energy in the bottom getting popcorn and you get a better air circulation.
