This week was rough 😓
After setting up my new Ebb and Flow system, I filled the 60 gallon reservoir and ran it for a few weeks to test. Since it's so large, I figured changing the nutrients every 2 weeks would be fine. After draining and adding the nutrients, I noticed a decent amount of particles floating in the reservoir. I decided it was fine and ran it as is. The next day, Londonchello was slumped over 😱
After going through everything I realized that my water smelled like a fish tank. I drained the system again and found a good amount of brown build up at the bottom of the reservoir. I bleached everything and started with fresh water and new nutrients.
Lessons learned -
1. Changing solution weekly is probably safer
2. The reservoir needs to be cleaned weekly
Despite the rough week the clones are still alive and most of them have started producing new leaves (except Hippie). The Londonchello that slumped over is being supported in hopes she stands back up.
Seedlings are doing well! Three popped without issue but a few took longer shedding the outer shell and opening completely. The seedlings weren't affected by the tainted water in the reservoir since they haven't been placed into the hydroponic system with the clones yet and have only received pure water.
Well, after last weeks rough growing, I went searching for more answers as I'm continuing to see deficiencies in some of the ladies (I've determined that my PPM and TDS was WAY off). I recently purchased a new meter and didn't realize I was using the wrong measurement scale. After realizing my mistake I'm sure I've caused nutrient lock out in a few of the strains 😭
I flushed them for a day and then set things right the following morning. Half the plants look like they may be fine with just some minor issues. The other half are not looking good 😕
Long story short, I might need to start over in a week or two 😅
If things go south this week I might take some cuttings and put them in the clone machine to try and salvage the strains...
Finally a happy week of growing! After the flush, things have definitely bounced back well. I've also cut the nutrients by nearly half to get the appropriate TDS and EC levels. Healthy leaves now outnumber the leaves that were affected by the lockout. The ladies have nearly doubled in size since last week and the smell has notably increased. I went to my local hydroponics store and got black tubing for my water chiller, as the translucent tubing that came with it was growing algae. The plan is to get the "Aeromixer" for my reservoir to aerate the water/nutrients more and assist me in the mixing process. I'm also gonna pick up a tankless RO system I've been eyeing 😍.
I also decided to add some stones to the grow environment to encourage the ladies along 💗
Another solid week for the tent! All the ladies grew wonderful and the bud sites are starting to show themselves. I added the Aeromixer and the T7 humidifier from AC Infinity and I'm in love with both. The humidifier gives me way more control, replacing two smaller ones that required constant refills. The Aeromixer mixes my nutrients perfectly and comes on once an hour to aerate as well. After watching a few videos I decided to try my hand at some lollipoping and LST with ties. I have to admit...the ladies didn't look as sexy as me all tied down but, the next morning they bounced back. Slightly worried about an uneven canopy as some are bigger than others lol
Last week of Veg 🤞🏼
Finally time to flower the ladies (myself included). This grow has been fun but exhausting! With all of the new equipment, I didn't anticipate the challenges trying to incorporate them during the grow. This week I laid down the trellis and I'm hoping to keep the taller ladies under control while the shorter ones catch up. I had a mini heart attack after a brief power outage caused by a passing storm, 😳 but all is well.
@@ThickHotChocolate, haha I must of been high when commenting haha, I'd definitely like to get me some of that thick hot chocolate you got there girl 🔥😍🧡
Quite stressed but the ladies seem ok... Good catch with the TDS thing if nurtured right you should pull outta that look just stay vigilant 🤞 groW luck.
