First off: big thank you to the two private bean sources. The Green Gelato is from Smoking Monkey and based on the original by RQS. The Trichome Clown I got from Kokopeli ( both on strainly.io ). They got started almost a week after the Sweet Seeds and have been slower and stockier from day one. They also got 2 less days under the photo CFL and went right to full spectrum. I'm sure those things matter but aren't really important for me.
Everybody has been under the new spider farmer; I had the new mars hydro veg light coming direct (isn't available yet) and it got delayed. The new split lighting was meant for situations just like this, so I was sort of happy to need it out of the gate. With more even lighting at a lower height my buckets are warmer (I added some more fungicide to help minor slime) but I'll be pulling them up this week once the stretchy XL pair have thickened up.
This is only my second DWC, and the first hasn't even finished yet. I already notice how much faster the chores have gotten and how easily I can spot something off and know the correction. What a difference.
Both of the XLs took off and have required daily removal of the largest leaves. They're drinking a fair amount and the pH is barely climbing.
The green gelato has had some trouble. She really doesn't like high nute levels, so each time I've made a change for the tent she gets a 2 liter bottle of RO water for dilution. Took a while to figure that out but she's been happy ever since.
The Mamasan turned into a dense little beast. Really needed some training to open up the middle but we're in great shape now.
The tropicanna poison's are flushing tonight and smell like the islands. The mamasan is going to be another two weeks probably. Unfortunately the green gelato has been very finicky and is in the worst tent position for solo maintenance. She's suffered (especially with pH issues), but hopefully with the two giants out of the way it's recoverable.
Even though the plant was only 2' tall it almost snapped my wrist when I chopped the trunk. Her bucket buddy (gelato) was getting temperamental with pH and nutes so I ran these lower than usual for flower. Still turned out incredible. I sampled before they went in the grove bags after 12 days hanging - not a lot of cure is needed. This a dense, narcotic smoke, so stay away from the heavy machinery. 275g premium, 50g heavy and uniform popcorn, zero larf.
Really easy grow. A week or so into flower my whole room smelled like a tropical fruit stand. Even the exhaust wouldn't take it all away, which I didn't mind. Very fast trim too.
