Mar 27th - Starting the seed in a glass of water alongside getting a rockwool cube pH'd and ready with nutrient water. (pH ~5.8)
Mar 28th - Seed broke the shell and starting showing itself, going to put in rockwool the following day.
Mar 29th - pH 6.0, PPM ???, ?.? EC, Temp 75f, Humidity 70% - Put the seed in rockwool, set up the little cloner/seed starter, looking forward to this grow. I hope this one actually has a smell to it, like, the Dark Devil at my friends, because the BAH did not really have anything to it. Maybe I over nuted it, iI don't know so this time I'm going to be using much fewer nutrients but I hope to still grow a great plant.
Mar 30th - Put it on a Vivosun seedling heat pad to hopefully get it to sprout faster.
Mar 31st - Still on the pad, but I can notice the seedling rooting.
Apr 1st - She's broken through on the rockwool! Put it back into the cloner thing to get the roots to establish before putting it into the final 5-gallon hydro bucket.
Apr 2nd - She's standing tall, hopefully, it'll be rooted enough for the 5-gallon by the end of next week.
This is being done in an Ikea Children's SMÅGÖRA Wardrobe (https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/smagoera-wardrobe-white-90460894/) with an Automato grow kit by the Tomato Machine Company (https://store.tomatomachine.company/en-us/products/automato-grow-kit)
Apr 3rd - Got a big ol' root going down through the middle, off to a good start! I started noticing it stretching, so I lowered the lights really low.
Apr 4th - pH 5.9, PPM 860, 1.7 EC, 80f, 68% humidity
Apr 5th - pH 5.8, PPM 250, 0.5 EC, 76f, 45% humidity - put it into the 5-gallon, it started to branch out, so hopefully, it'll be fine.
Apr 6th - x
Apr 7th - x
Apr 8th - x - came home to plant leaning heavily to one side.
Apr 9th - pH 6.6 -> 5.7, PPM 260, 0.5 EC, 76f, 75% humidity - adjusted pH
Apr 10th - pH 6.3 -> 5.7, PPM 270, 0.6 EC, 71f, 65% humidity - adjusted pH, installed inkbird temp and humidity sensors and connected the humidifier, dehumidifier, and A/C to them. I will change the water after this week to more nutrients, for a second there I didn't know if she'd make it this far.
Apr 11th - x
Apr 12th - x
Apr 13th - pH 5.9, PPM 780, 1.5 EC, xxf, xx% humidity - Made new water with more nutrients after noticing issues on the plant's leaves.
Apr 14th - x
Apr 15th - x
Apr 16th - x
All nutrient ratios are to 3 gallons, not 5.
Apr 17th - pH 5.7, PPM 450, 0.9 EC, 75f, 65% humidity - I changed the water, and lowered the nutrient amount, the leaves look awful, and tbh I've always had issues growing Dark Devil :( Why must beautiful plants be the hardest? Trying to salvage it.
Apr 18th - x
Apr 19th - pH 5.8, PPM 440, 0.9 EC, 80f, 35% humidity - I think it may have been the humidifier running on my city's high PPM tap water that may have caused the issues. Since lowering the nutrient amount to half and not using the humidifier, the new growth looks good while the leaves that were already messed up have pretty much died. I'm hoping this was the cause of the issues so we will see how this rides out for now. I am also looking into getting a water chiller, as my water stays at about 80f.
Apr 20th -
Apr 21st -
Apr 22nd -
Apr 23rd - pH 6.0
Apr 24th - pH 5.7, PPM 710, 1.4 EC, 80f, 35% humidity - I got some new nutrients (CALiMAGic ((over CalMag Plus previously) and Armor Si) today, perfect timing! And I am really trying to score an "Ice Probe" water chiller, I think it'd be a "simple" fix to the water temp issue since I wouldn't need to run hose in and out of the bucket, rather just one 1 1/4th inch hole with a probe stuck in it 2/3rds the way down the bucket so it can chill the 3 gallons of water I use. That's where the water temp probe comes in, so it can help regulate the chiller to stay at around ~70f. That is the hope anyways. I also hope the plant takes to the nutrient solution and the issues I've been having are resolved.
The mf stalk is EMPTY empty lmao 😅, I felt it and squished it a bit and was like GOD DAMN... 😰
Apr 25th - pH 6.2?-6.6?, I think the BlueLab is off, it reads 6.6 but the pH strips only read somewhere between 6 and 6.2, probably the reason for all my issues, even though I calibrate it every month, rinse it after use, and store it in solution. :)
Apr 26th - pH 6.2, PPM 1140, 2.3 EC, 80f, 35% humidity - Redid my water, I put the nutrients in, in the wrong order. :( It's Silica, CalMag, Micro, Bloom, Gro, and then other supplements/additives... noticed the plant was starting to go into flower the other night so it wasn't a terrible idea to redo the water as I was able to add more nutrients too. I also got the Ice Probe and it seems to be working! If I was to redo it, I would put it just an inch higher, it sits pretty much right under the 2-gallon water line. I also raised the lights, seeing as the plant is going into flower and will stretch, I assume. But the Ice Probe does work, I have gotten my water temps from 80f all the way down to 70f in the few hours since updating! I've also trimmed off basically all but two big fan leaves, of the ones that were sickly looking. Still plenty of healthy leaves but it did feel wrong, seeing as how small this plant is.
Apr 27th - pH 6.2, PPM 1150, 2.3 EC, 81/71f (cabinet/water temperature), 36% humidity - The plant is looking better and loving the cold water! :)
Apr 28th - pH 6.2, PPM 1150, 2.3 EC, 79/68f, 37% humidity
Apr 29th - pH 5.9, PPM 1180, 2.4 EC, 73/68f, 43% humidity - Water has gone down a little bit leading to a higher PPM and lower pH, the plant seems happy though, it just has to make it until Monday for a water change.
Apr 30th - pH 5.7 -> 6.3, PPM 1250, 2.5 EC, 85/71f, 38% humidity - Adjusted the pH
May 1st - pH 6.0, PPM 1280, 2.6 EC, 79/70f, 35% humidity - Water change, added purpinator since I found it on sale, plant seems happy from this past week, great sign. :)
May 2nd - pH 5.9 -> 6.2, PPM 1380 -> 1260, 2.5 EC, 80/69f, 36% humidity - adjusted pH, likes to read a bit higher than usual according to my pH strips (~.2ish I believe), added a bit of distilled water, PPM was a bit high when testing this morning no idea why though. The plant seems O.K.
May 3rd - pH 6.3, PPM 1350, 2.7 EC, 77/68f, 55% humidity - I started to add humidity to the cabinet to keep temps down and to help during flowering, I've got it outside the cabinet plugged into a humidity inkbird set to 60% RH and it'll allow it to fall 12.5% before turning back on. (Not trying run it 24/7)
May 4th - pH 6.2, PPM 1350, 2.7 EC, 79/72f, 57% humidity - The plant is chilling, notice maybe some yellow spots on some fan leaves, if this continues I will turn off the humidifier, as that's what happened last time... Also raised the lights again, I wonder how big this one will get.
May 5th - pH 6.1 -> 6.3, PPM 1280, 2.6 EC , 77/73f, 50% humidity - upped pH a tiny bit, added water to lower PPM
May 6th - pH 6.5 -> 5.9, PPM 1350, 2.7 EC, 75/72f, 42% humidity - adjusted pH and added a little bit of water
May 7th - pH 6.1, PPM 1600, 3.2 EC, 78/68f, 44% humidity - bucket is low on water, didn’t want to add a whole thing just to change it tomorrow, will start with more water (3.5gal) and add more water throughout the week compared to this week, I have started to experience clawing, possibly due to nitrogen toxicity, hoping to fix this upcoming week. And a noticed a few tiny rust spots on leaves randomly on the plant (not like it’s just fans or just old or just new growth, it’s sorta spread? Hoping it’s calmag?) Plant looks nice otherwise
The nutrient amount this week is to 3.5 gals, she is getting THIRSTY, and probably drinks another gallon of just water on top of that.
Nutrient order is Armor Si(Sit 10 mins) -> CALiMAGic -> Micro -> Purpinator(If using purple plant) -> Terpinator(Not really needed if using purpinator) -> Bloom -> Gro -> Sweet Berry -> Hydroguard -> pH(If needed, and diluted in water, not just put in concentrated)
Turned off the humidifier, pretty sure that's what results in the rust spots I get on my leaves, at least for right now.
May 8th - pH 5.8, PPM 1280, 2.6 EC, 83/72f, 45% humidity - Water change, 3.5gal this time, hoping the clawing and small rust spots go away, not fiddling with pH unless it goes out of 5.5-6.5 this week too.
May 9th - pH 5.5 -> 6.2, PPM 1350, 2.7 EC, 81/71f, 38% humidity - adjusted pH and added .5gal of water plus CalMag so it evens to last weeks, I got scared of rust lol
May 10th - pH 6.3, PPM 1500, 3.0 EC, 85/72f, 44% humidity - pH went up slightly, PPM went up a bit.
May 11th - pH 6.3, PPM 1600 -> 1400, 2.8 EC, 83/70f, 43% humidity - added water, cut some rusted leaves off, am I giving too much CalMag? Too little? Am I giving too much of some other nutrient and am blocking out the CalMag? Ahhhhh!
May 12th - pH 6.3, PPM 1450 -> 1350, 2.7 EC, 83/71f, 48% humidity - added water, trying to bring the cola back toward the center using plant wire.
May 13th - Was unable to gather information this day. :(
May 14th - pH 6.7 -> 6.0, PPM 1600 -> 1410, 2.8 EC, 81/72f, 45% humidity - added water, adjusted pH and PPM, cola likes to not stay in middle :) Of course, the day I don't check pH, is the day it spikes above and out of the ideal range.
Off to a struggling start this week... First when I took the plant out to change the water I SMASHED it into the top lights and bend it straight 90°, but thankfully with some tape, it seems to be able to stand up without more assistance.
And then god... I tried changing the water with our tap water, kept running into issues where it would cloud completely up when you added in either purpinator or bloom. I even went so far as going to the store and getting more distilled water since I thought maybe it was my 610ppm tap water but no... after doing a small test in a mason jar the water started getting cloudy after Armor Si and CaliMagic mixed and then once you added the purp or bloom it got super cloudy. So I wasted SEVERAL weeks worth of Armor Si, CaliMagic, Purpinator, Micro, and Bloom before solving the issue and just using less Armor Si and CaliMagic than I originally planned too. I figure over the course of the week if the rusted spots come back on the leaves I'll just add CaliMagic then. It's just super weird I never had that happen before but now I know and will be on the lookout in the future.
It took SO long to change the water, that in the root picture you'll notice a new white root shooting down in the middle from the very top, she was thirsty!
Not using the terpinator for the rest of the run since purpinator does the same thing, and I just wasted so much of it... lol
May 15th - pH 6.3, PPM 1690, 3.4 EC, 84/75f, 48% humidity - Broke main stem, repaired with tape, seems O.K. Had A LOT of difficulty with the nutrients and water, went a little lower to be safe.
May 16th - pH 6.6 -> 6.2, PPM 1710, 3.4 EC, 83/74f, 38% humidity - adjusted pH back in range, added a little bit of water and more CalMag, leaving it as is for now.
May 17th - pH 6.3, PPM 2010, 4.0 EC, 80/72f, 41% humidity - took some bad looking top leaves off and a few handful of lowers, as it's around Day 21f.
May 18th - pH 5.9 -> 6.3, PPM 2180, 4.4 EC, 84/70f, 49% humidity - Really scared to let the pH go below 6.2, cause of the rust issues I keep having, but so far the plant looks well this week!
May 19th - pH 6.5, PPM 2250, 4.5 EC, 78/70f, 46% humidity - Not much going on, pH rose a bit, probably going to have to lower it tomorrow.
May 20th - pH 6.7 -> 6.2, PPM 2050, 4.1 EC, 82/72f, 47% humidity - adjusted pH and added ~gal of water to help with high PPM. Plant is chillin' so far. 😎🙌
May 21st - pH 6.3, PPM, PPM 2150, 4,3 EC, 82/71f, 44% humidity - pH is bouncing between 6.3 and 6.4, added a tiny amount of water, plant is doing well. Water change tomorrow!
May 22nd - pH 6.1, PPM 1310, 2.6 EC, 85/75f, 47% humidity - late water change, around midnight, probably will add more CALiMAGic when I go to check the water later today (the 23rd), just very scared to have it turn cloudy af on me again and ruin the whole thing lol.
May 23rd - pH 6.2, PPM 1650, 3.7 EC, 78/70f, 44% humidity - increased the amount of CALiMAGic, Micro, and Purpinator in the bucket, nutrients list updated to reflect, noticing some clawing, its either wind burn or nitrogen toxicity I'd guess. update: can't be wind burn, they're not going fast enough. don't really know what is up with those few clawing leaves just hope more don't happen.
May 24th - Unable to get data this day.
May 25th - pH 4.0(??) -> 6.2, PPM 2080, 4.2 EC, 82/69f, 47% humidity - Didn't get info yesterday, woke up before work to adjust plant and found it super low in pH? Pen stopped being calibrated so I pH'd to 6.0ish before I left and then recalibrated the pen when I got home and pH'd to 6.2. PPM is climbing, but the water level is going down too, will add more water tomorrow.
May 26th - pH 6.0 -> 6.4, PPM 2100, 4.2 EC, 81/68f, 46% humidity - pH'd up to 6.2-6.5 range, noticed little rust spots.
May 27th - Unable to get data this day.
May 28th - pH 6.6 -> 6.1, PPM 2180, 4.4 EC, 81/72f, 38% humidity - pH'd down into range. Did some defoliation today, took a lot from the lower and middle 'cause 360° light. Added less than half a gallon of tap water.
May 29th - pH 6.3, PPM 1680, 3.4 EC, 85/70f, 45% humidity - Changed the water today! Probably going to be this week and one more? We will see.
May 30th - pH 6.2, PPM 1700, 3.4 EC, 81/71f, 35% humidity - Surprisingly chill day.
May 31st - pH 5.7 -> 6.3, PPM 1940, 3.9 EC, 79/70f, 38% humidity - Adjusted pH into a range that's more appropriate for Calcium, still seeing just very small rust spots on some leaves, barely noticeable but I notice!
Jun 1st - pH 6.3, PPM 2000, 4.0 EC, 84/72f, 35% humidity - Chill day, added 1/4 gallon of water to the bucket.
Jun 2nd - pH 6.4, PPM 2080, 4.2 EC, 84/70f, 37% humidity - Another chill day, she is getting there. :)
Jun 3rd - pH 6.4, PPM 2240, 4.5 EC, 88/72f, 33% humidity - Chill day, added a tiny bit of tap water.
Jun 4th - pH 6.4 -> 6.0, PPM 2250, 4.5 EC, 80/68f, 42% humidity - Chill day, noticed rust spots even though its in 6.2-6.5 range, so I said fuck it lets lower it to 6.0 for the last day of the week. Idk what cause the rust tbh.
Jun 5th - Unable to water change and get data this day.
Jun 6th - pH 6.1, PPM 1550, 3.1 EC, 77/70f, 38% humidity - Water changed! Maybe done this week, next? Idk.

Jun 10th - pH 6.2, PPM 1900, 3.8 EC, 83/71f, 37% humidity - Chillin'
Jun 11th - Unable to get data this day.
Jun 12th - Unable to change the water and get data for the day.
Jun 13th - pH 6.2 (Before water change ((was interested in seeing how it was doing)) pH 5.9 -> 6.2 (Adjusted the fresh nutes to 6.2), PPM 1670, 3.3 EC, 82/72f, 38% humidity - I got around to changing the water today, surprised at how well the pH stayed tbh for the few days I did not geet to check the plant!
Jun 14th - No data today.
Jun 15th - pH 5.7, PPM 1890, 3.8 EC, 80/70f, 38% humidity - Probably going to have to check pH tomorrow to make sure it's in range, plants gotta be close now right? lmao, defoliated a little before the harvest.
Jun 16th - Didn't get data.
Jun 17th - pH 5.0 -> 6.0, PPM 2100, 4.2 EC, 79/71f, 42% humidity - Adjusted pH.

Jun 20th - pH 6.2, PPM 1670, 3.4 EC, 80/72f, 40% humidity - Changed the water today, lots of amber and lots of clear, not so much cloudy lol
Jun 21st - Didn't get data.
Jun 22nd - pH 5.7 -> 6.0, PPM 1700, 3.4 EC, 82/70f, 35% humidity - Probably the last week. Actually this time.

Jun 24th - Didn't get data.
Jun 25th - pH 5.6 -> 6.2, PPM 2000, 4.0 EC, 80/72f, 38% humidity - Adjusted pH, def not last week, took some roots that I thought looked bad off. I may have squeeze them once to get the water out and obviously, that was not a good idea.
Jun 26th - I don't know, computer died, never got information.
Jun 27th - Cut/Chopped the plant Day 63f, put in closet with A/C attached, stayed between 55-70f, 40-60% humidity for one week.
