Barney's Mimosa x Orange Punch Fem, my 2nd indoor grow ever, first run in new micro tent, feeling like it will be a funny journey :)
DIY led based on Bridgelux EB v2 strips mixed spectrum, meanwell DC/DC driver for an amazing 65w max power, dimmable.
Dogma Organics supersoil mix in BioBizz light mix.
Repotted in 2.8 liters pot, with supersoil mix full strength. Just water ph6.8 then.
She still seem slow, for sure compared to her 2 sisters in my growmie 2.3x2.3, but she's though!
First compost tea with worm castings, molasses, kelp, TNC Mycorrhydro 1 teaspoon per gallon.
Brew for 36hours with aeration.
She loved it
Then just water as usual + a bit of dissolved Great White mycorrhizae once.
Started LST this week, a bit late but she caught me off guard, I was expecting it to stay smaller as she was bit stunted. Should have started training much earlier.
Just watered when dry since last compost tea.
She started to cry for food so transplanted to 11L final pot with supersoil mix.
Almost every day tweaking LST to keep desired tops height.
Right after transplant fed soil with aerated compost tea brew for little les than 48hrs with worm castings, molasses, kelp, a sprink of oatmeal, TNC Mycorrhydro.
Flipping to 12/12 in the next few days!
Had some of what I think are symptoms of fungus gnats larvae messing with roots. Yellow trap helped with adults, after letting soil dry out completely before watering, no new signs on leaves. Will keep an eye for them, they're not many I think.
Very mild defoliation to open up to light lower nodes.
Other than that, she's now flowering and she's loving life.
Quite heavy defoliation, then compost tea.
I'm unsure maybe I should've removed another node on some branches, flower sites are very small, but for now light can reach and decently close to canopy level. I'll see how they develop.
She is starting to enjoy more light and drink more. Slowly but surely. Still not finished stretching, apparently. Raised light dimmer to 75%.
Few mosquitos in tha house still, but little. Should be fine :)
Grow going on autopilot, proceeding quite good, first thricomes spotted today ❄️
Looking at her structure and light exposure I should've maybe removed a further node during lollipopping 2 weeks ago. Lower flower sites are very small, not sure if it makes sense removing now tho.
Gnats population increasing again. They colonized a corner of the pot, there young ones emerge from soil. Will try some remedy soon probably.
Getting a PK top dress + first attempt at fungal compost tea soon
Nice progression, still on autopilot except for top dress.
Did one last defoliation, removed lower/small budsites and put LED to 100% power on 4/20 :)
Starting to smell a bit, not intense yet but sooo sweet, her 2 sister at growmies tent are 10days ahead, incredible aroma, they smelling like ripe peaches, bit of apricot, almost artificial flavours smell, if peach gummies even exist they smell like this.
Loving this strain so far, even after the stunt start is giving me so many joys! 😀
She's fattening up, quite clear she is having troubles uptaking nitrogen and potassium, worried of possible pythium/root rot, already last week deficiencies were evident, so brewed a fungal compost tea which surely made fungus gnats problem go exponential, and then decided to give a bit of biogrow+biobloom even if in supersoil. Not much response yet. Not drinking much. Will try BTI against gnats, and hope deficiency I see is caused by gnats larvae and not root rot🤞
Applied BTI on tuesday, put another fan at soil level. Fungus gnats population decimated, few adults hiding on top layer without being able to fly due to airflow directed towards soil. The aggressors seem 5times less already. Plant starts to look better, it's fattening and pistils are turning orange/brown quite fast, probably also due to lowered lamp distance and a day of unusual heat.
She's sticky af, lower buds being much more frosty than tops at the moment.
Fungus gnat seems to be gone forever after less than a week after applying bti+air flow!
She looks happier, buds are fattening up very fast now, trich production on point.
This strain and pheno smelling much like bitter orange indeed now, on a very sweet background. Did one last half strength compost tea, then only water from now on.
Checkd with microscope, trichs already 99% cloudy :)
Fading a lot, only water since 1wk.
Beatiful fade, but many lower leaves yellowing and fall when gently pulled, probably ran out of nitrogen already.
Chop day is getting near anyway!
Wonderfully smelling, supersticky but not so frosty yet. No amber trichs yet, maybe a 1%, but its matter of days 🔥
Not very good finish, I think the root problems (heavy fungus gnat infestation which damaged root system) took over in the last 4 days, I think she was already dead when I chopped.
Still, result look fairly decent!🌲🤩
Happy about all I learnt from this grow, and thankful for the journey :)
@RoidBlaze,
thanks mate, this micro grow is being so fun and the available space was that anyway. No more damage on leaf and even after being stunted, it looks like a very strong plant indeed.
Pity you didn't think highly of it. Looks like you got a good harvest. Gnats musta came from your supersoil.. when you use all mix & SS, you can check with the maker how to treat. Most will say oven treatment is best. But, it leaves a rotten shit smell in house all day. I use boiling water, and I put tin foil over the top and give it a good shake and move about. Kills all larva, no gnat problems since I've started doing it. It's a pain. Only thing I have issues with a moths.
@gottagrowsometime,
Thanks brother, I changed my mind a lot I'm happy, ended up very good quality and on point yield all considered! I was just suffering seeing her stopping eating so early. damage is evident, very little root system, mostly brownish roots. no slime or shady stuff tho. After I applied BTI and killed adults by hand mostly, gnats were not visible anymore for 3weeks. Maybe putting in the mix and applying it regularly can save the pain of boiling the soil?
Thanks for sharing the techs, I will dig deeper into your technique for next run, oven is no way, just decarbing 5gr makes house stink like dead weed for days.
