First time using rock wool to germinate. Went exactly the same as previous paper towel attempts.
Deep water culture with recirculating reservoir set up. A bit concerned about the net pot size but neighbour who advised me on the setup seems to think it’ll be sufficient.
pH set to 6.25 and germinated seed now in situ. Checked that rock wool stayed damp overnight.
Monitoring temperature and humidity via home made Wi-Fi sensor linked to home assistant. Will use this later in the grow to automate temperature / humidity / fan operation etc.
Loving the deep water culture set up so far. No stressing about watering is wonderful. Starting to get the first sign of cotyledon poking out from the Rockwool exactly 8 days after removing the seed from the freezer.
Weird secondary shoot coming from the seed. Will leave it going as it seems to be growing okay and is kind of cool. Maybe I’ll get a mutant talking plant or something.
Added 5ml of FloraGro, 5ml of FloraMicro & 5ml of FloraBloom to take the reservoir to 200ppm. pH still around 6.2.
Weird mini seedling looks healthy enough so I’m going to let it keep growing. I’ll start encouraging them to grow in different directions so they both get decent light.
Roots have made it through the net pot and are rapidly expanding.
Increased nutrient concentration to circa 400ppm
