Starting this a bit late. They were potted from rooted jiffy's on the 4th of April. I'm gonna take 7 days off as it took about that for them to start properly growing.
These are clones from a few mother plants I had, which I had started from clones I bought 2-3 months back. I now only have 1 mother plant that I am planning to flower with these clones.
I'm unsure of the legitimacy of these strains, I was told the NL x BB take 8 weeks, while the TB x GMO takes 10 weeks. I'm really hoping for a good yield from this, aiming for 6oz, 2oz per plant. Should be achievable but I haven't seen how these flower. So we'll see.
Day 17
They were watered yesterday. I've improved my watering technique, no more over-waterings.
Growing strong, lateral growth is starting to ramp up.
They've had 1 weak nutrient feed.
Plan is to veg for 4-5 weeks. I am LST'ing the Triple Burger, the others were too stiff to bend unfortunately. I wanted to top them too but I don't feel confident due to the alternating node pattern, confuses me hahah.
Day 22
Watered and fed 1ml Veg nutes yesteday, repotted up to 5gal pots (3gal smart pot for the Triple Burger) today, watered again to make sure the new soil was wet. Only a bit root bound, not too bad. Which is confusing as they were all displaying some stress (yellowing leaves, brown spots). I assumed they had stripped the soil of all its nutrients. The soil I've used this time ("Terrazilla") is renowned for being quite "hot" (Nitrogen rich). Hopefully it fixes things up a bit.
The Northerns are getting quite tall, averaging about 13.5inches. Side growth is getting there, especially on "A". The Triple Burger has slowed down, hopefully it picks up again. I was planning on switching to 12/12 on the 10th, but may do it sooner as I don't want them to stretch too much. Although I really wanted some more side growth. We'll see.
Aiming for slightly lower PH this grow, usually do 6.5, now aiming for closer to 6.
Got a new 400w HPS bulb, "SolarMAX" brand. Apparently has more lumens than most, at 95,000. It's definitely a lot brighter and hotter. May have to turn the LED off for heat reasons.
Scribbled out plant is my friends, scribbled out to avoid confusion.
Day 29
Flipped over to 12/12 on the 7th of May. Photos taken Yesterday, on the 9th of May.
A & B are about 17.5" tall.
Clones got a decent feed of Veg/Grow nutes, while the mother got her first feed of Flower/Bloom nutes.
Still figuring out watering schedule, it had been 5 or 6 days so figured they were probably thirsty. Pots were heavy but I'm not used to 5gal pots so could have just been the extra medium. Poked my fingers down and was dry about 5-6" down. Probably going to do a watering/feeding every 6 days, instead of basing it on the weight of the pot. Obviously will re-assess that schedule when they get older. But for now I think it'll be fine.
Going to give the mother plant a good trim soon, worried she's too bushy.
Clones are growing strong, A & B both have a bottom side stem that is kinda acting almost like a main stem? thicker than the rest and growing lateral branches... kinda hard to explain, I'm sure it'll show more soon.
A bit worried about the impending smell, looking into deodorizers.
Day 37 (photos were taken on day 36)
Day 10/11 Flower
Since it's entering winter over here, I've had to put a small oil heater in the tent for lights-off. Without it, it was getting as low as 13degrees celsius (55.4F). At a comfortable 19-20 now.
Averaging around 1" of growth per 24hours, doesn't seem to be much of the typical early-flower stretch going on though, thought it may have been because of the low temps so hopefully it'll improve, I'd like some taller plants.
Bud sites are developing well, Triple Burger is lagging behind a bit but that's probably because it gets the least amount of light, being so low and all. I've been told it takes longer to flower too so theres that (10 weeks flower as opposed to 8 weeks for the northern)
Fed them all 1.5ml of both Bloom A % B.
Not much else to report.
Day 45
Day 18/19 of Flower
Sadly the Triple Burger X GMO turned out to be 'hermi' (technically intersex as it wasn't a "true hermi"). I've attached a couple of photos of one of its buds. You can see the beginning of the bananas. Ah well, at least it was only 1 of them, hopefully.
The rest are doing really well, the clones 25-26inches tall, mother hasn't stretched a whole lot but I'm guessing that's due to pot size and not having the room to grow more roots. All of them have started producing trichomes, so they're starting to smell :)
Watering frequency has increased to every 3-4 days. Think I'm going to up the amount of water so I can try get it to once a week again.
They're coming along nicely. Not much else to report.
Day 54
Day 27/28 of Flower
Bout half way there! Everything's looking great, plants are healthy (bar a few thrips) and buds are starting to fatten up, lots of trichomes too. Very happy with how this grow is turning out :) It's my last grow for the year (taking a break), going out with a bang lol
I've started using a bud/resin enhancer called "Plant Mechanics PK Booster". It's just an extra dose of Phosphorus and Potassium, I'm using it in combination with the other bloom nutes, seems to be doing the trick nicely. No sign of nutrient burn either. Never used a product like this but I'm happy so far, I'll definitely be giving them all a good flush at the end though.
I bought some more beneficial mites to try keep the thrips at bay, sucks having to sprinkle the bran stuff that they're on all over the plants, it gets stuck in the sticky buds. Might look into washing the buds before drying.
Day 63
Day 36/37 of Flower
Passed the halfway mark now! 2-3 more weeks I reckon. Pistils have started darkening, smell is really starting to get strong too, fan leaves are losing their colours etc etc.
I'm having to water every 3 days or so now, feeding nutes every 2nd water, probably only going to do 1 or 2 more nute feeds though, I've used a lot so I'm going to do a proper flush in a week or 2.
Getting a bit of a classic skunk smell to it too.
Predator mites seem to be doing the trick, thrip attack seems to be slowing down. Had a bit of a Powdery Mildew scare but so far it hasn't spread.
There's a small possibility I might have to harvest a week early due to the smell but we'll see, I'll probably get some more air fresheners.
Definitely getting a lot colder outside (being winter and all), even with the small heater on full power the tent still gets down to 15degrees Celsius.
Day 80
Day 52 of Flower
What a great grow :) Trichomes were at about 15% amber at harvest, definitely ready. Could have left it a few more days, maybe a week tops, but had to harvest due to smell really.
Didn't wet-weigh, wouldn't make sense because of all the stem.
Will update when dry :)
