I started with 4 seeds but unfortunately 1 didn't make it. I gave up on planting another seed and decided to just take a cutting of one and grow along side it's mother.
This grow I wanted to try my hand at manifolding. I topped them back to the 3rd node and held them down with some metal stakes. I kept all the branches that were decent size to turn into a mother just in case they turn out great. I also transplanted them up into 3 gallon fabric pots.
I continued the manifold and did the final topping at the third node from the first topping. I also took 2 clones of my geno 3 plant as it was fastest growing and had good structure. One of them will be my 4th plant to fill out the tent and the other will be a mother. I also planted cover crop.
This week I transplanted the clone into the last 3 gallon pot and did some defoliation on the others to open the canopy up more. The clone got its first topping and cover crop also sprouted.
This week I transplanted them to their final 7 gallon fabric pots and they got moved to the tent. The also started to get trained with the net to fill any gaps in the canopy. All the cover crop was killed off and they got their final dose of Gaia Green All Purpose and a half dose of Power Bloom. They also got their last major defoliation of veg and will begin flower next week. I also began lowering the light about 1 hour every day or so.
First week of flower and the plants were taking it well. I just kept pulling them out to fill the center and that's about it. I added a second net to just support the highest buds in the future.
Just some minor defoliation and continued training. Buds really starting to look good and trichomes are starting to show up. Also figured I would add a fan leaf comparison between geno 2 and 3. 2 is super short and compact compared to the other two and is definitely much more Indica leaning.
This week I top dressed the plants with more Gaia green along with some worm castings. I'll probably do this one more time around week 5-6. I started to smell some really nice smells from 1 and 3. One has this slight lime smell with some sweetness while 3 is more of a lemony weed smell. 2 is very dull all around and doesn't really smell like much but is very sticky, even the stems all the way down to the base.
This week they really started to put on weight. The trichomes are also really starting to show up and all 4 are pretty greasy. 1 so far is my favorite in terms of smell. It is completely lime candy, super sweet and doesn't have a hint of any kind of normal smells. 2 is very dull but has a faint smell of lemon floor cleaner. 3 and the clone have a fairly strong sweet lemony citrus and is almost fruity pebbles like in it's undertones.
Plants continued to put on weight and trichomes. Got a few close ups to get a good look at the flowers. Geno 3 is continuing to get some purple coloring. Next week will be the last fertilization of the grow.
Fertilized all of the plants this week with a slightly lower dose of Gaia Green power bloom. Genos 2 and 3 both have started to get a good amount of orange hairs and definitely look like they will finish before 1. 1 is definitely still packing on more weight than the others though.
Plants are definitely getting close to finishing. 3 looks the closest white 2 being really close but 1 is definitely wanting atleast a week past 2 and 3. Unfortunately I found the beginning of a seed in a top bud on 3 and unfortunately I had a herm. After looking around for about 15 minutes trying to see which one it was, I found a few pollen sacks on the lower branches of 1. I was really disappointed cause 1 had the amazing lime candy smell was was definitely my favorite in that department. I pulled all the sacks I could find with wet fingers and used my sprayer to wet all the flowers top to bottom to make sure I kill any pollen I missed. I did this every 2-3 days just to make sure I didn't get any more seeds. I am not really sure what caused this cause it was only 3 spots on 1 plant but oh well. Plants will be coming down next week.
Last week of flower, went a total of 57 days. Geno 1 really could have used a week or two more but everything else was getting pretty amber so I figured 3/4 ain't too bad. Overall I'm pretty happy with looks and smells. I think I may have stretched 2 and 3 a little thin with the manifolding and I don't think I'll be down it again unless it's on a know heavy yeilding plant. 1 on the other hand took it great and gave me 9 amazing colas all equal sized. I'll go more into my final thoughts in the harvest update after I get the chance to smoke all 3 on their own separate days so I can experience each fully.
Geno 1 - Easily my favorite smell. Even now as it cures in the jar, the strong sweet lime candy stands out with a little soil/earthy undertone. Taste had the lime come through but unfortunately not as strong as the smell. Hopefully cure time will help bring that out. The high was a little light on the potency but overall very pleasant and didn't hinder our work trimming the plants and overall gave us a nice euphoria without being too overwhelming.
Total dry weight - 73.76 grams
Geno 2 - Smell is definitely the weakest on this one. Hints of lemony cleaners but overall super light and not very fragrant at all. Taste is also nothing great with just a hint of lemon but was mostly just a generic weedy taste to me. The high was something else though, extremely potent and hits quick. I was in extreme euphoria with many laughing fits over the 2 hours I had before sleeping. It's very heady and I felt it right in the face. The plateau was super long compared to other stuff I've grown and pretty much kept me there up until I fell asleep.
Total dry weight - 48.32 grams
Geno 3 - The most balanced out of the 3. Smell is super lemony and has some grapey notes from the purple punch. Taste was very lemon like and fairy sweet but I wish it was a stronger lemon flavor. High was similar to 1 being fairly mild and uplifting without hindering our progress on trimming.
Total dry weight - 102.1 grams
Total dry weight (clone) - 51.7 grams
Overall the grow went well, had a slight issue with herming but the grow didn't seed too bad. With the manifold technique used I believe this cultivar didn't benefit from it very much and would be much better suited to a heavy yielding cultivar instead. I plan to grow out clones of Geno 3 for my next grow and will simply just top a few times with some supercropping. I don't think I'll be growing out this cultivar again after my clone run as i didn't care for the flavor very much but I think this was still a nice cultivar for people who are looking for a very euphoric high and still staying productive.
@LittleBigTrees, I may if it yields good. I had another grow in the tent while this one was vegging so I had about 3 months to mess around with something new. So far I really like what I'm seeing though.
