Hi all! I decided to start another grow in coco. Using airpots and 75/25 coco/perlite branded mix.
Going to use T.A. (GHE) DualPart Coco, Root Booster, Seaweed, Fulvic, Calcium Magnesium, Bloom Booster, Ripen, and FlashClean. Also, Voodoo Juice and BudCandy from AN.
Well… First mistake was not long to wait. I used bad water for germination because I was sure it’s ok as usual. It was 220 ppm when I decided to check. Then I flushed eazy plugs with distilled water and surely forgot to check its pH. Finally flushed them again and used paper towels to remove excessive moisture.
One seed sprouted on day 3 after soaking in water. Planted both in cups with coco/perlite. Covered cups with black/white plastic to protect roots from light.
Used 0.5 ml/l T.A. DualPart Coco Grow, Bloom, 2,5 ml/l Roots Booster. Then diluted to get desired ppm. No pH down was necessary this time.
Inflow/runoff before planting: 250/250 ppm, pH 6.4/6.4.
This branded coco is very clean. Will water them manually for few days. Then transplant into 15L air-pots.
Waiting for another seed to germinate. If it doesn’t sprout in 2 days I will go single seed for this grow. Don’t want to overload the box. Nothing wrong with 50% germination success here.
UPD: Going one seed in coco this time. Thinking about another one in 1,5 months or so. We’ll see.
The large seed didn’t germinate. My bad. I’m happy with one seedling anyways. Giving it 10 DLI.
Day 5:
Coco is still moist, but the cup is loosing weight. I will feed manually before transplanting into the final 15L pot. Drip watering will be installed with no automatic drainage removal. I will use the second pump for soil grow.
Day 15:
Transplanted the seedling into coco/perlite (75/25). Took another plastic cup, put it in the pot, surrounded with coco to get the exact shape of the rootball while transplanting.
Flushed coco with 600 ppm and pH 5.6. Runoff ppm 700, pH 6.2.
Dropped the rootball from 2cm height when it was almost fully inserted in the prepared hole. Don’t know if I could make it better. The hit wasn’t hard.
DLI 10.
_______
Day 16:
She immediately continued to grow. Even 6 hours after transplanting there was a progress. Running portable AC to dry the air. VPD 1.2-1.4.
_______
Day 17:
Leaves are getting more green. Covered coco with black/white plastic to preserve moisture in substrate.
_______
Day 18:
Installed automatic watering. 5 fertigations per 300 ml a day.
Inflow 590 ppm, pH 5.5.
_______
Day 19:
First runoff after more than 24 hours.
Spent about 1.5L.
Runoff 670 ppm, pH 6.5, 800 ml.
_______
Day 20:
Another portion of runoff 48 hours after installing automatic watering.
Runoff 610 ppm, pH 6.5, 500 ml.
Spent 3L in 48 hours. Reducing inflow amount till 1L per 24h.
Fresh solution mixed. 600 ppm, pH 5.5.
Day 90 (54):
Bud rot spotted on the biggest branch. Contaminated area was about 5 cm in diameter. Isolated the damaged buds, trimmed the rest of the branch. Clean wet buds weight is about 90g.
I had an issue with bud rot several times in one grow. First branch was removed on week 6 of flowering and I thought the rest is sick as well. But she was pretty strong. Two weeks later there was another small contamination in the central bud and one side side branch. I’m really surprised it didn’t kill her entirely, threw out a small amount equivalent of 10 g of dry buds.
The bud structure was not satisfying. Probably due to the lack of light in the beginning of flowering and nitrogen overfeeding. Most flowers were not fat enough and a lot of leaves occupied space between them.
