after leaving them alone for the past 2 weeks ive decided that this is the week when ill start topping and ill introduce horse manure soup with a small amount of tomato feed.
i already have roots hanging out the bottom of my pots so i might decide to use a solution dripper at some point or possibly on my next grow.
im just happy that since they have had this new light put in the growth has really picked up.
im unsure if this will be powerful enough for 11 plants but its certainly better than the 600w i was using from seedling to vegeatation 2wks.
its a lot warmer as it doesnt have a built in fan, but thats not an issue as i need to add a fan to move the leaves anyway or the stalks wont gain strength, and the risks of issues with heat spots or god forbid mold, begin to rise.
see you next week.
growing well and have been topped.
see how they bounce back over this week.
this is obviously a stealth grow and it gets hot in there but i will add an extraction setup over the next few weeks, along with a scrog net and mass exfoliation.
cant risk them getting too large within such a small space.
week 3 part 2.
everything below the 2nd node was removed so it leaves the stalk bare and i remove the biggest fan leaves to make sure that nothing is blocking the lights ability to penetrate into the foliage.
Added a fan and it works very well to rustle the foliage and move the heat away.
my next task for the coming week is to get a net ready for tucking and tying, the moment that flower begins.
if i wait too long ill miss the growth spurt and have mismatch bud sizes, whereas if i do this correctly gently tucking and tying branches into a dense canopy, then i can limit light loss and maximize large uniform buds.
im not even sure how long this strain takes to grow but i look forward to watching it mature over the next few weeks.
removed a few fan leaves and all bottom rows as they wont make it to the net height in time.
im now on week 4, that means that bloom is going to occur this week at some point.
i cant risk any more HST, and ive got some good growth due to come in.
the light has plenty of power so im hoping for a clean crop in 8weeks time.
we will see.
Tuesday 27th June
ok so because the roots were so crammed in and some of the pots werent fully filled, i decided to empty some of the soil out expose the root ball and then packed them all back up with fresh soil mixed in with the old stuff and stapled them shut.
im hoping this will catch the last few days of veg and be capable of putting out some nicer buds.
ill check them again next week and hopefully the mycorrhizal fungi that i always add to the soils to aid in rooting will have done its job again and be visible from the bottom and top.
so they have gone into flower, i have a few strange color leaves which i suspect is due to the ph creeping up and iron or manganese being locked out which obviously needs sorting in the next 7 days.
so i have ordered bio bloom, calmag, top max and ph up/down with ph test strips so ill alternate higher and lower for the next few weeks to gradually bring the soil within range.
The smell has picked up, its not too strong yet but wont be too long until it gets to that level.
To battle this ive ordered a carbon filter and extraction fan.
from what i understand ill be done in approx 8 weeks, so lets ramp this up and get some super sticky icky...
Day 37.
doing my daily checks i noticed a few balls on the main cola of one of my magnum XLs.
so i removed it and binned it.
Saved the soil for something else
myself and my pal decided that our next set up is gonna be 420 fasbuds ZtrawberrieZ and Pineapple Express.
keep an eye out for that over the next few weels.
the ph issues have cleared up nicely after a half litre of horse shit was added to the top of each plant pot.
over the following 5 days i watered a small amount each day and crumbled the pellets into smaller pieces or dusty fertilizer mush. the pellets crumble deasily after being wet and partially drying so this was actually reasonably relaxing, chilling with the plants.
i also lollipopped them again and spaced out the branches to allow better light penetration.
did some training by bending and tying down branches to get more main cola type buds vs the popcorn buds...
the stalks are now getting quite inflexible so after losing two branches decided to only defoliate a little every now and then in an attempt to not damage them any further.
the weeks are flying by pretty quickly now, so im hoping to be enjoying some of my own smoke in 10 weeks. maybe even a little less but my runtz has barely started flowering whereas the rest have been 2 solid weeks, which is thoroughly confusing.
either way.. ill be back next week
Update day 46...
The plants are getting excessively thirsty and it seems somewhat strange.
Its almost impossible to find information on magnum xl but they seem to be big drinkers like gorilla glue, northern lights or critical.
Next time if I grow these again, I'll do a DWC instead so I can keep them fed better.
Occasionally I will water and then the following day my 3 largest ones will be all but dry, so I end up watering again a day or 2 later although the others can be watered twice weekly this few require 4 or more a week.
I have a suspicion it could be the roots are too dense due to the smaller than usual pots, but I am happy to see them blossoming nicely anyway.

This week I became fed up of the plants being so cramped in.
10 big bushy plants in a d)0.5m x w)1.1m x h)2m.
So I created a second cabinet grow area to place my three smallest ones which has now allowed enough space to spread them out and get some air moving easily throughout the canopy.
We are finally at the stage that these little ladies will concentrate on building weight and sticky icky buds...
Day 54. Added video.
The bud sites are starting to pick up weight and the smell is increasing.
Surprisingly my RuntZ is gaining serious weight and has a beautiful pinky bud colour.
The new cabinet works well but the 600w light isn't as powerful as my other one but itll hopefully manage the 2 I've got under it.
SMELL IS PICKING UP LIKE CRAZY.
i don't notice so much through out he day due to nose blindness from being around them, but when i sleep and wake up. it smell so strong that i burn incense to try and cover it, in case other people can smell it that powerfully too.
the way that the ones i thought were slacking last week have caught up beautifully, even overtaking one or two. just goes to show you cant guess what kind of process the plant is working from.
it seems as if i have three phenotypes, and only one plant is a small amount lime green. approximately 30% hasnt yet darkened up like the rest of the m have but my hope is by the end of the week, we should have no more underfed (due to nutrient lockout from ph) issues plaguing a few of my girls.
the rapid and vigorous growth increase has shown that my nutrients are bang on and now that the ph is too, we have them pumping out rich terpenes 24-7...
i love it.

this week has been really simple, i gave them carefully ph'd water at 6.4 and was happy to see the colour of the leaves turning a nice dark green instead of the lime green that 2 were experiencing.
There is a small patch of lime green left but i would hope that they will darken up too at some point but we will have to see.
the lollipopping has left me with plants that look like bouquets of flowers, and i have reinforced the stalks with some wire which seems to align perfectly with a massive growth spurt that has allowed the buds to grow by 30 or 40%.
whether it was from the reinforcing or the better ph allowing nutrient uptake, something else or a combination of all of them, i am very impressed with the way they are looking and smelling.
i started a new type of nutrient from Elixir Gardens. it seems to be an all in one and the plants absolutely love it. if anyone wants to know about it, id highly recommend giving it a go instead of buying all the separate nutrients.

i would say that the magnums are better than the RuntZ in not only size, bud density, smell but also the vigour of the growth is impressive.
i have had the RuntZ in the prime position the whole time but it couldnt keep up. so i moved it with the smallest magnums into a smaller environment but they had to be stem broken and bent 90° then taped to hold it so that they were the same height as my RuntZ.
i have always like sweet seeds but to claim XL when ive not seen a diary with the plant above 70 or 80cm is false advertising, as is 9weeks from germination as mine is nowhere near ready to cut in 6days...!
magnum XL had to trained to keep it under 1.2m, due to space.
anyway, not really much else to do, im just waiting on the girls to finish up and until then ill be watering once or twice a week depending on the weight of the pots and checking them daily to ensure no mold gets the chance to wipe me out.
see you next week fellow growers....

This week i added 2 uv light bulbs which have caused my plants to become extremely crystallised all over the buds, and sugar leaves.
Really smells fantastic now, at the start of week 9.
I have one plant that is still rooting, which is a little surprising.
The soil has compacted so much that i use my finger to force a hole and then water slowly into the hole.
Well one plant has gradually filled that hole with roots coming from every angle. See image above.
I will take pics of the other plants in the 2nd cabinet tomorrow, as i have just finished the larger cabinet and had a bho bong which has battered me into a sleepy state.
Very happy with the way theyre growing and would very much recommend elixir gardens powdered all in one water soluble nutrients.
The girls seem to really like it, so that means i like it too.
day 65.
uploaded some images of second cabinet, and unsure of how much longer to push the girls before i put them to use....
its practically impossible to judge these plants as they keep putting out pistils and are super thirsty all the time.
will probably flush this weekend..

So flushed and cut the tops off of 2 and allowed the smaller buds to get a bit bigger before i snip it fully...
Not much to say really so ill leave it here for this week.
Only another 4 weeks left..buzzing.
i sped dry a bit of bud to test and its nice. tastes of hay but thats due to the chlorophyll not breaking down yet...
nothing a few weeks cure wont cure...haha.

This is it last few days.
Ive already cut half of them down.
A solid 5z just finished drying now gone into jars. I have 7 total but some of the large buds cant fit as much weight.
Very impressed with the smoke.
Magnums grow big and shiny, as well as being super easy to grow.
Next time ill do less plants and spread them out more as its blatantly clear that they could have easily produced triple if not more buds with better spacing.
This was a very spur of the moment grow so im glad it came out nicely.
Seen a mixed bag of phenotypes, my thought being they had hundreds of magnums seeding and mixed them all up as we've had airy buds, dense, bitty, crumbled and pretty much every shape of bud imaginable...
But it all smokes lovely..
Some of it still a bit chlorophyllish, however the stuff cut 14days ago is great..
Good quality buds.. some super dense plants, others a bit fluffy with a couple that were bobbly like gelato or dark devil.
I would definitely recommend magnum from dr.trichome, had absolutely zero issues at all even though i often forget to check the soil leading to more than a couple totally dry pots but no leaf drooping, nothing other than the soil being bone dry and light as air to tell me theyre in drought...
The buds mostly smell gassy perfumey but 3 of them smell very similar to skunk #1.
The final three, my three largest ladies will be cut tomorrow after theyre 48hrs of darkness ends. I decided to try it on them as ive keep hearing about it but never tried it so why not.?
We've settled on cream mandarin, gelato and tangerine dream for the next grow.
I look forward to seeing you there..
Happy gardening fellow cannabis connoisseurs.
Approx 6 ounces dried so far but with another 4 or more to come after 10 days drying.
The runtz produced less than an ounce but is a very nice smoke, even though the magnum is nice too.
