Strain: Speedy Chile (Fast Flowering), Seed #1/5 used from package received from Royal Queen Seeds on 6.21.23.
My Experience: Intermediate & learning. I have had some success experimenting with different setups and have grown 6 plants from harvested seeds in last 2 yrs.
My Notes: This is my first purchased / feminized seeds. Goal on this plant is to harvest 2-4oz in 8-12 wks.
Day 1: 06.21 - Seed started in paper towel
Day 2: 06.22 - Taproot emerged, planted in 2" jiffy pot using Miracle Grow Seed Starting Potting Mix
Day 3: 06.23 - Added heat mat to increase soil temp & clear plastic cup over jiffy pot to hold in moisture
Day 4: 06.24 - No change
Day 5: 06.25 - Seedling sprouted + helmet shed. Heat mat & cover removed. Lights set to Veg, 36" height.
Week 2: Started LST of main stalk. Earlier than I normally would but hoping to increase amount of terminal buds on this plant thru LST + multiple toppings.
Week 5 - Indoor Speedy Chile
Started LST/Main-Lining. Growing steady with nice green leaves. Still have not added additional nutrients. Watering every 2-3 days.
Week 7 - Indoor Speedy Chile
Did not touch plant much over last 10+ days. Growing nicely, larger fan leaves starting to fill in. Getting ready for first big defoliation*, continuing LST and watering every 2-3 days. Still no additional nutrients added to watering schedule.
**In Week7: Plant experienced a littlebit of unwanted stress. (1) Power was lost from 08.06-08.07 bc of storm/winds. Most concerned with light, so focused on night hours, this meant I went ahead and left lights on for 20+ hrs upon power returning to get back onto a 18-6 schedule. During power outage had to move outside for 1 full day, luckily outdoor conditions were not too far off from my indoor tent and high temps did not get over 86deg those days; no major issues noted afterwards. (2) I was on vacation from 08.09-08.15. Left with no attention, watered heavily 2 days prior to leaving and left passive clay watering spike+750ml water. Upon return was happily surprised to see that, although light and dry, the plant was healthy and not stressed. Watered heavily and gave a couple of days rest before defoliating.
Week 8 - Indoor Speedy Chile
Defoliation, topping, and LST after good growth and leaving plant alone for 10+ days. Did not defoliate as much as I wanted out of fear of stress, since I still don't feel too experienced, removed ~15% of plant leaves and lower 1/3 of plants bud sites.
Week 9 - Indoor Speedy Chile
Plant growing and training well. Gave first bit of liquid fertilizer before a good defoliation at end of week. Planning to switch to 12-12 soon.
*Finally caught up on diary entries. I decided to extend veg stage by 1-2 wks bc of summer vacation and travel.
Flowering setting nicely. Started feeding a little more fertilizer every 2-3 waterings and watering every 1-2 days. Having fun with LST and main-lining methods on this plant.
Had a 2nd power outage due to storms this week. Lost power overnight and plant missed out on a couple hours of lighting one day, but day was nice enough to place plant outside. Noticed a couple inches of stretch from 8hrs outside!
Topmost buds are starting to get a bit lighter in color. Need to rearrange carbon filter so I can raise lights more, think theres a mix of lightburn and a little bit of nutrient burn since I just up'ed big bloom feeding.
Rearranged tent so I could raise lights. Unfortunately can no longer use pulleys so needed to raise to 16" over top of buds. I went ahead and released all LST tie downs to help lower buds reach for light a little more, will see what this does to buds.
Overall, feel like I could have defoliated and pruned a bit more heading into flowering but overall plant is healthy and doing well. Not entirely sure about the Fast Flower strain here, seems to be taking her time but next 2-3 weeks will be the test.
