I planted directly in pro mix with dry nutes. Took a few days to show.
30ml / gal of all purpose + a big scoop of worm castings was thrown into the mixing pail.
They are vegging with some other garden plants under a 50W led 4' light. Stretched like crazy but seems to have stopped now. I should probably get them some more light.i have some other hanging lights and could get them at least double that wattage.
The plan is to move these 2 into the 2x4 once the 2 I have in there are done.
I potted them up to 1 gal so I wouldn't have to worry about watering over the last 6 days on vacation. I don't think I needed to be concerned as the soil is still moist.
The stretching seems to have stopped with closer lighting. They look good.
These are both at 3 nodes now. I anticipate topping them both in another week. They are looking great and only issue is a bit of fungus gnats.
I'm trying to dry them out better and applying hydrogen peroxide with water on top and water them from bottom drainage holes. Sticky traps will be put out this week.
I topped them several days ago.
There are still some lingering fungus gnats but otherwise there is no issues.
It will be at least 1 week until I can get them in the tent under the larger light.
Moved these into the tent under 300w light on Sunday. I will transplant them up to 3 gal pots tomorrow when they dry out a bit more I think.
Final plan is to move up to 8 gals before switching light cycle to flower. Probably about 4 weeks after transplant. They had slow growth so far due to weak lighting.
Moved them up to their final home (8gal pots). I amended pro mix hp with:
2tbsp/gal of Gaia green bloom
1tbsp/gal of Gaia green 4-4-4
1 tbsp/gal of Gaia green rock dust blend
Watering with:
20mL/gal of terpinator
8mL/gal of diablos monster carb
PH to 6 - 6.5
I'll switch them to 12/12 after roughly another week to let them stretch their legs a bit. They both look perfect. No deficiencies or issues. I'll take some clones from each before switching to 12/12.
4th day since switch to flower. There is a pleasant skunky smell. Gave them a tuck back under net to control height.
I didn't take any clones yet. I intend to clean them up with some defoliation after the stretch and will take some clones at that time. I like taking clones from early flower cuz they grow all bushy and weird.
They are spreading out nicely under net. I'm glad I didn't veg them any longer.
I'll clean out under the canopy next week. They are super bushy and thick.
I am going to top dress and clean up under canopy later this week. I took 6 clones. My last cloning attempt was in coco and used rooting gel. All 16 survived last attempt. No rooting gel used here so well see if that makes a difference.
These both look very healthy. Buds are developing nicely. Increased terpinator dosage to 20ml per gallon. 8ml per gallon of diablo monster carb as well. It is not much smell from these yet.
I found evidence of spider mites on the left plant. It is my first time ever experiencing this. There are white dots all over some leaves. I used a magnifier and could see a couple on underside of leaves with 2 spots on their back. I could only find evidence of them on the left plant.
The guy at the hydro shop recommended I do not use any chemicals at week 6 flower so I took his advice and purchased a bunch of packets of spical ulti-mites and hung them all over both plants. I am hopeful it was caught soon enough as it would be terrible to lose these so close to harvest.
Left plant losing the battle against the mites. Right one looks good. I'm going to give them a good flush with flawless finish next water and see how quick I can harvest.
The leaves on left plant have taken a good beating from spider mites. The right plant almost nothing. I put so much predatory mites in there. Looks like lefty will survive to harvest.
They are almost halfway through flush. Waiting at least another week to get more cloudy trichs. Beautiful coloring fade on the right plant. They will both be a good yield I think but the right will be especially good. The colas seem dense and there is so much of them.
I harvested the left plant last night. There was a decent amount of amber trichs that I could see. The real reason was the resurgence of spider mites. I could see them spreading so fast. There must have been a massive spawn of offspring because it is horrifying looking at these things move under magnification. I found some on the right plant but nothing in comparison to the left which they seemed to favor greatly.
I usually leave a lot of leaves on during the dry and remove them during manicure before curing. This time I removed as much as possible. I think it will be close to 4oz from this despite the beating from the mites.
The second plant will go for about a week or so longer providing it didn't inherit all the spider mites from lefty. There is 8 packs of predatory mites on the remaining plant but I they don't seem to be up to the task.
After this experience with spider mites I will give it a few weeks to clean and make sure they are totally eradicated and haven't infected my houseplants. The clones I had taken were trashed as I need to ensure the mites are gone before starting the next grow.
I found some webs yesterday on the 2nd plant and freaked out. Wiped the buds off the best I could and gave it the chop.
These buds are chunky! Good weight too! They are both drying at 60rh right now in the closet. Think I would prefer smoking the odd mite than pesticides. I will return for a smoke report later.
Thank you to anyone that found this interesting enough to sub.
