nonick123 New diary of Cream Mandarine XL Auto! Thanks to Sweet Seeds for sponsoring this diary by sending me these seeds of Cream Mandarine XL Auto, plus other varieties that I will grow later on. The seed was directly sown into the final pot at a depth of 0.5 cm on 08/30/2023. After 5 days, the seedling has germinated! It’s in a 10-liter pot with the following substrate: Part 1: 5 liters of substrate from a previous harvest, which looked very, very alive with microbial life and had a very good texture, containing 7% Perlite, 15% Coco, 1 g/L Diatomaceous Earth, 1 g/L Bone Meal, 1 g/L Bat Guano, and 2 g/L Azomite. Part 2: 2 liters of fresh worm hummus. Part 3: 3 liters of Bokashi. It has been watered with 1 liter of rested water with a pH of 6.4 and hay mulch has been placed on top.

nonick123 Day 9 (12/09). It's struggling to produce the first true leaves... I don't know if it's focusing on growing the root system or if it's stressed and is going to stay small... (Growing Autoflowers is a personal stress and a race against time in the first few weeks...) Day 13 (16/09) and the first true leaves are just starting to peek out... The plant seems to be blocked for some reason... Any ideas?

nonick123 Day 16 (09/19). The first true leaves are starting to show. I remove the mulch to let the substrate breathe better and I water with 500 ml of rested water pH 6.5. I hope the plant takes off in the next few days! Day 21 (09/24). The plant isn't taking off... Another dwarf added to the collection 😑

Grow Questions

nonick123started grow question 3y ago
Hey friends In my next grow (the first one indoors) I'm going to use Complete Mix substrate from Top Crop. Since I want to have a very well-ventilated and fluffy substrate: Do you recommend adding more perlite and/or coconut fiber? What percentage? I'll be using fabric pots.

Reminds me of Pro mix HP. your brand is preloaded, so be carufull and wise, dont add more food for first few weeks. Perlite is cheap, manufacturers already add about 50% from mass, dont think you need to add more. Ph 6.3 should work well with it. Good luck !!!

nonick123 Day 23 (09/26) the little one is showing pre-flowers... I'm going to give it 7-10 days to stretch or I'll pull it out... You learn from everything! Day 24 (09/27). The plant is dying. Its few leaves have wilted and are yellowing very quickly... I don't think it will survive.... Day (09/28). The plant has died. It's completely fallen over when I got home. When I pulled it out, it had barely developed roots. RIP _________________________________ I think it's largely my responsibility for using a substrate that's too dense for an autoflowering plant. The next cycle of autoflowers will be with a Light Mix substrate and NOTHING ELSE in the substrate, and I'll start feeding after two weeks. You learn from everything! 😖 Thanks to Sweet Seeds for the seeds. I hope to do better next time!

The plant died due to soil that was too hot. I hope to be able to germinate it again in the future with Light Mix type soil!

Hey buddy keep it, I already got something like that, and a day the plant wake up, The green is good so still alive, In my case was the too cold temperature, but I see 30*C so look good, can't help you buddy. That's why I prefer seeding in plug, when I've good root I put in substrat.

Ju_Bps commented3y ago
@nonick123, I use same method for auto, photo, Put seed in paper towel When seed sprouted, put in plug, After a week in seeding box, For auto, put plug in final pot, For photo put in 2l pot. You can see detailed step in my diaries (germination week) But I'm agree with you, it's several transplant = several risk to broke the baby.

nonick123 commented3y ago
@Ju_Bps, thanks for the explanation! In photos, I have no problem transplanting, but with the autos, I see it more as a problem than a benefit, but you learn from everything in this community! I'll try your method with the next seeds.

Congratulations!! I'm about to do my first transplants with autos hehe As @Ju_Bps says... we'll just wait for the good roots. I think you'll do well with her, cream mandarine is something exquisite and also from one of the best seed banks in the world 😍😁 Good luckkkkkkkk

@nonick123, it's just that sometimes on this social network, the autoflowers look like they're in week five by the second week 👀 that drives me a bit crazy too haha... peace science

Leafs look a bit down buddy, maybe a bit too much water for the little one?
nonick123
nonick123 commented3y ago
@Zengrower, yes, the substrate is too dense for this little plant I think the substrate isn't ventilating well and the roots can't grow... I've barely watered it since it germinated... Next auto, I'll use only Light Mix substrate and a fabric pot for good substrate ventilation

Zengrower commented3y ago
@nonick123, Yes good idea! I use Light Mix most of the time. Also very happy with the airpot as well. I hope you can save her, good luck 🙏

nonick123 commented3y ago
@Zengrower, it's not taking off.... I'll give it another week If it doesn't stretch in 7-10 days, I'll probably take it out

Not gonna lie I'd be worried too with an auto at two weeks. I hope she can turn around for you 🤞🤞🙏
nonick123
nonick123 commented3y ago
@PapaNugs, I think it's going to stay small... Next auto, I'll just try it with Light Mix substrate.

Maybe the problem could be due to the substrate. It seems to retain too much moisture. This is usually the main issue, as the roots can't develop because they can't 'breathe'. I hope I helped you. Sweet smokes, - Apolo

nonick123 commented3y ago
@Sweet_Seeds, thanks for the advice! Maybe it's too "dense" a substrate for an Autoflowering.
