Hey - it can be as simple or as complicated as you like - I like simple. I find my best results come from a full plant hang - but I cut at the base - no roots. I also like to dry in the tent they were grown as I have full control over the environment - and I want to control the speed at which the bud dries. so temperature absolutely matters! - I go for temps around 18 - 20c, starting higher at 20c and reducing to 18c after a few days. Dry for approx 10 to 14 days - after 10 days, test the dryness, you want a crispy-ish bud and the branch should be snap dry, not bend dry.
Humidity I have around 50ish, with plenty of air flow, and obviously lights off. You can mess about with lights off time and all that jazz before the cut - but I don't, never really noticed the difference tbh.
I also like dry trim - but get rid of all big fan leaves before you hang, Some people wet trim - I experimented - and the resinous scissors are a nightmare lol -plus its hard not to tamper with the sticky, Sticky on hands means less sticky in your bud. But in all honesty its probably 6 and 2/3s either way, dry or wet trim. Best to experiment for yourself.
When hanging don't let the buds touch each other.
Once your happy with the dry, Its time to trim - unless you opted for a wet trim... but for simplicity I'll pretend you went for the dry trim.
Depending on the size of your harvest, you can trim completely, then jar to cure, or if there's a lot of bud, I like to do a very rough trim and jar to cure, almost just cut the bud and jar, Then when I have time I go back and neat trim a jar at a time.
Curing - Once jarred - burb a couple time a day for a few days, then you can burp once a day to once every couple days - just keep an eye on the bud, and only half to 3/4 fill the jar - leaving plenty of room so you dont crush the bud.
For the cure - I generally go by the smell to see when I'm happy to smoke - get rid of that fresh cut grass smell, and wait for the sweet stink of bud to make you gag - then your good to smoke m'lady :) I usually cure for a minimum of 2 weeks right through to months at time.
There's a million a 1 ways, and everyone has there preferred methods - but what I described is pretty much foolproof so hard to go wrong.
Hope this helps :)
