Should she be renamed Pinhead???? Hell Raiser???? Shit went badly sideways!!!! Our cola's and buds are short, fat, and dense. The buds are super dense too. We have 4 fans in the tent and a major dehumidifier in the room but it's not been enough. The venting has been an issue with the old AC and the new AC has been popping the breaker because it shares a breaker with the lights and exhaust fans. This has resulted in the VPD being higher then we'd like and the occasional time the AC, lights, and ventilation turned off because of a popped breaker and the humidity went way up (75-85%). All together this has resulted in the very bad and dreaded bud rot. Went away for a 3 day weekend to visit friends and came back to a few buds that had yellow dry leaves and dry buds. I investigate further to find that it was bud rot. So triage started, if any bud showed signs of rot I took the entire cola. This was painful but I know that bud rot is not to be messed with. It took 2 days to go through and deal with the rot and trim the cola's to recover the ok buds. This is how it broke down in numbers; SSH ___ 54 cola's pre - 27 removal = 27 cola's remaining (50% removal) Clone 1 _ 8 Cola's pre - 1 removal = 7 cola's remaining (12.5% removal) Clone 2 _ 5 Cola's pre - 1 removal = 4 Cola's remaining (20% removal) Total 67 cola's pre - 29 removal = 38 cola's remaining (43.3% removed) Total wet trimmed weight = 997.3g (29 cola's = 34.4g per cola average wet) Saved wet trim weight = 558.3g (56% saved) ***because of the rot we trimmed really closely, trimmed all the buds off the cola, took all stems and most of the leaves off to make sure none of the rot was left. I suspect we will have a higher % dry weight because we took off so much of the stems, leaves, etc. Our biggest cola was 48.23g wet trimmed before we dissected it into the buds and tossed away the rot. We took apart all the cola's and were able to save a lot of the lower buds as the rot usually was only on the top 30-50% of the cola's. This is still young and the tricomes are clear. Not sure how nice it'll be but we are drying it and will find out in a week or two. There might be some more that need to be removed in the coming weeks, we just don't know yet. I molested all the cola's hard, looked at the base of all the buds as best I could and pulled anything with even a bit of identifiable rot. The ones not taken have been handled a lot and will for surely be degraded. I read about some people using skewers to separate the buds in dense cola's allowing more air into them, so I'm trying this method. It's desperation at its best as we are only a few weeks away from the finish line. There will be a push this weekend to get the new outlet wired in to allow the A/C it's own breaker so that we stop tripping the rooms breaker, I think the ventilation issues with the old A/C and the new A/C tripping the breaker is what pushed us into this bud rot. Most of our biggest/fattest cola's got taken, so with us having 56% of the cola's remaining I'd expect if we can get this to finish and harvest we will end up with under 40% of what the actual harvest would have been if we didn't lose our big cola's to rot that made it through ripening. But we still might lose more we just don't know yet. Amazing how a seemingly healthy plant can go completely sideways so quickly. Bad part is it happened, the good part is that we did catch it fairly early. Less then 50% cola's effected and out of the cola's effected we were able to save 56% of the bud weight. It's not ideal but it's a lesson and we will learn from it.

Yellow in the leaves, I've been feeding until runoff on a Sun - Tues - Thurs and just letting it sit in-between. Feeding with a 1.8 EC solution and my runoff starts at 800ppm and then drops down to 500 by the time it's finished. Increase nutes? nutes every day? do nothing?or???

Don't raise the EC. Even 1.8 is might be too much for soil. Your leaves are showing signs of over dose (burnt tips and raised edges). In soil you want to feed once every 7 to 10 days, not every 2 days and specially not everyday. Unless you tap water is too soft (say EC below 0,3), there's no need for calimagic and even if you needed a little extra, there's enough in floranova grow. The yellowing is normal at this stage.

My girls all have very close buds on the cola's, they are packed one on top off the other, big and dense. This caused air flow issues and helped to fester the bud rot. Is there a way I can encourage more stretch in the plant? especially in the cola's?

You can do a couple of things here in order to help facilitate the fight . You can raise your light higher then the recommended height this will promote the plants to stretch a little further in order for them to get the light they need , but in the end this method is just going to buy you a little more time not really fix the problem , You can lower the output on your light if thats an option but again this will encourage a stretch but will only buy you time not really a permanent fix . What you really wanna do is be able to encourage air flow throughout all your plants so you can simply add some more fans to help with this you can also take away any big big leaves this will also help promote air circulation throughout your plant aiding in the fight against bud rut but the very very best solution you can use to fight this off is lower you're humidity to as low as humanly possible if you can get it lower then 30% you are very likely never going to run into bud rot or mould issues in your grows , not only will it ensure that you don't get mould or bud rot but your plant will produce even more oils crystals and rezin for you ! Thats pretty much the ultimate fix for this problem is to get your humidity as low as you can get it . If your having trouble getting it down I might suggest you get a small dehumidifier with a good sized tank so your not always in there emptying it . This way you can ensure your crops safety vs those 2 tragic crop destroyers :( . Over all I can see your plants are nice and healthy you just got a few things to adjust if your scared that mould and bod rott are going to be an issue other wise you're rocking and rolling getting ready to get that tasty medicine ! I hope this information helps you on your journey to the finish line ! -Happy Growing!

I know it may sound a little weird, but can you post a couple of pics of your bud rot? I'm just curious what you are talking about. Each time I see it, it looks different.

@BeefWellingtons, This is my first grow and my first time trying to grow in a room/tent. Heat, cold, humidity, and airflow have all been learning experiences on this one. I have lots of experience with a regular vegetable garden, but nothing like this. Inside the tent I have 4 8" oscillating fans that run 24/7 (2 above the canopy and 2 below the canopy). They have been there since the start of flowering. I have good air movement in the tent, and we lost a lot of buds that were directly in front of the fans, so I don't think it was the air movement issue. I also bought a 70 pint dehumidifier that sits in the room (100 sq.ft. room). It's been there since the start of flowering, but it was set to 40% rh and although the room was reading around 45% once I had rot I moved the temp/humidity sensor in the tent and in the tent it was 50-55% rh. So I sent the dehumidifier to constantly on, now the room sits around 35-40% rh and inside the tent is 40-50% rh. I did have a few nights that got down to 61f (16c) and I had some issues with the room not having enough power and the breaker got tripped off. That resulted in all the power, fans, dehumidifier, lights, etc, all going off and the humidity climbed to 70+%. The last 5 weeks has been wiring in some new plugs and rewiring a couple old ones, now the room should have more then enough power. It was a big job because the breaker panel was full and I had to get a new breaker panel installed in order to run 4 new breakers into the room. Now they are on 12/2 wire with 20a breakers and all the major draw items have their own separate breaker so they shouldn't trip anymore. That just got finished on Sunday. It's not a complete mystery why I have the bud rot, I know the factors that lead to it happening. But what I didn't know is that the lights + dehumidifier + A/C or heater = not enough power and breaker tripping. I didn't do a power consumption tally when I first set up the room, nor did I realize just how much power this was going to need. I'm addressing the issues as I discover them but it takes time and $$$ to address them.... more $$$ then I thought it would. And I like to understand whats going wrong rather then have a knee jerk reaction that might not be right. Next on the plan is to install a subfloor and vinyl flooring in the room (it's concrete right now) to help clean it up and get the cold floor out of the equation for the winter season. Right now the bottom 18" of the room is significantly colder then the top of the room. I installed a ceiling fan last weekend and that's helping to mix the air but a proper floor will help. Then I'm working on trying to figure out a room ventilation flow control system. Right now the temp swings are tough to manage while having enough ventilation for the tent. I've got it now so that it'll stay 68F to 83F (20-28C) but it's really power intensive and sometimes drips or above a bit. I have an idea how to make it better but I need to find the pieces to make it happen.

@NomNom, whoa. Thanks for those. Can you get another fan? How about those dehumidifier hang bags? Those are the only two suggestions I have for that. I didn't think you could get bud rot with 42 humidity? Seems like more air circulation would do the trick, no?

@BeefWellingtons, I pulled a couple cola's last night due to bud rot. I took some pictures for you. The last 3 pictures on week 24.

Wow! Looking great! How do you get such fat bud sites? Is this down to strain? Im on my first grow, I'm using led lights and im just wondering if thats my issue as my buds are pretty slim in comparison.

@NomNom, Ahh I was looking at the quantum boards but they were fairly new so not much research I could do, wish I gave them a shot! Your plant is how I pictured mine to look like before I started haha! Excited to see the outcome for ya! Thank you very much! Im glad I went with Barneys farm for my first grow,It's been a breeze so far! All the best 😊

@ScotlandHaze, Hi and thanks, this is my first grow so I don't really know why they are short and fat. The only other grow on there that is running this strain has the plant as much more leggy (growdiaries.com/diaries/19202-super-silver-haze-first-grow). I'm running LED lights too, I'm running the quantum LED's and they put out an insane amount of light, I had to turn them down. I veg with the cheap blurple LED and then made the quantum LED for flower. My husband gives me shit for the fat colas, he looks at all the other grows on here and is saying I'm doing it wrong because our colas are short, fat, and super dense. He thinks it's better to have them long and slim. As far as I know I might be the one f-king up my colas.... BTW I looked at your grow and it looks awesome. I just ordered some seeds from Barney's Farm, I'll be following your grow.

@BEZPVD, ya but now I have a 15 week veg from seed with 16 nodes, a 11 week veg from cut clone with 8 nodes, and 5 week veg cut clone with 1 main and 4 subs. All the same genetics all the same lights, all the same nutes. It's my first grow I'm learning and I'm experimenting. Having the veg times staggered and measuring the harvest amount will help me understand.
