Hi all,
Welcome to the start of a new run!
This is an experiment to see how I do using 5l air pots with Canna Pro Plus coco coir.
It's also a test of my space, cramming 2 plants into my tiny tent.
This diary will focus on Afghan Kush Auto by
Fast Buds.
I popped 1 bean using the paper towel method.
I wrap then in a fairly wet towel put into a zip lock, placed in a draw and covered with cloth.
I want the temp at around 21 degrees and the humidity about 90%.
Incredibly, over years of doing this method, I still have a 100% success rate (touch wood).
She popped after about 16h and had a big enough taproot to be potted after another 12.
She's now in the tent with the fan on and the light off.
That's it for now.
Any comments or questions are appreciated.
See you next week!
Hi all,
End of the first week/germination and there's not a lot to report.
Temps are slightly higher than ideal but that doesn't matter.
I sprayed her with water every once in a while then at the end of the week I but their covers back over them so as not to damage them and watered with some root juice using a rose.
If you're following both my current diaries the first bits will be pretty cut and paste until the real growth starts.
Thanks for coming, see you next week.
Hi all,
The girls have had an odd week.
They were looking healthy and green to start with but as it went on there was a real lack of growth and they were gowing very pale.
*The Afghan started acting a bit oddly.
Her leaves clawed, curling right in and twisting.
My light, temps and humidity were all within the correct parameters, give or take, so it had to be feed...*
I'd only prepped the coco coir with CalMag and Root Juice and that's what I've been feeding with but a couple of days ago I added 1ml of biobizz grow to the mix, earlier than I normally would, and they've boomed.
*The leaves have opened up as much as they can and there's been good growth just within a few hours of feeding.*
It's the balance of how to feed autos against how to use coco coir that I have to get used to.
I think it may have put them back a few days but I can only wait and see.
On a side note, I'm really happy with the mix of coco and Perlite I'm using. Very soft and airy and drains really well.
Thanks for reading, see you next week
Hi all,
Sooo, what can I say but that these are some small ass plants!
If this was half way through the first week I wouldn't mind but it's the end of the third so there's something a miss.
I've changed the food regime, cut out the root juice and raised the Grow to 2ml twice a week.
I no doubt under fed them to start with but even so, they're pretty titchy.
Otherwise they look good, green and healthy.
That's it.
Thanks for coming, see you all next week.
Hi all,
Had some really good growth this week though tbh they're a week or so behind where I'd expect them to be.
I've been feeding every 3 or 4 days which sounds excessive but they've been lapping it up.
Until the last feed, the ppm was coming out lower than it went in.
Last one went in at 380 and came out at 400 so I'll just give her water next
I've been giving CalMag every time and last shot I gave a little root juice just for the hell of it.
Today, day 29, I topped her. Late to do it I know but she's running behind so why not.
The AK is pretty rangy with good space between the nodes so i decided to do some LST bending. There's very little head room in this tent so I doubt it'll be the only time.
There we go. We'll see in a few days how she recovers.
Thanks for reading!
Hi all,
I've been remiss in my note taking and diary doings lately but here's a catch-up.
It's half way through week 7 as I write.
If you've been following you'll know I topped her at week 5 and although she took to it really well in terms of budding out it really stopped all vertical growth.
She's healthy, but she's small.
I've done a few bits of LST on her over the weeks and she's loved it.
The take home here is that AK works really well with training but you need to start early!
She's been taking all the food I could give here with no ill effect, infact yesterday was the first time in 3 weeks she's had nothing but plain water.
I was doing 1ml each of grow, bloom and topmax but I've since upped the flowering agents to 2ml.
Next feed I'll cut out the grow and put the others to 3ml until flush.
Every feed has 1ml of CalMag, except when it's just water, and is both pH and ppm tested including the runoff.
That's it. She'll not produce much but I'll persevere.
All comments welcome and please check out my other diaries!
Hi all,
Not much of am update to give, I'm really just syncing the diary time line having missed some.
It's day 57, so 8 weeks in and I'd guess another 4 to go.
She didn't like being given just water last week, went quite pale, so I upped her feed again yesterday.
PPM are still coming out high but as she's showing no signs of over feeding and as we're nearing the end i'm just gonna keep going.
That's it, thanks for reading and please check out my other diaries!
Hi all,
Not much to say this week.
She has a beautifully sweet and sticky smell, like lemon sherbet.
I've hit the max of the feed I'll be giving her and she seems to like it.
Had problems with temps this week, hitting a max of 35 degrees for a couple of hours.
It's late enough that I don't think it'll matter.
I realised that my pH pen wasn't calibrated and I've been feeding with a solution at around 4.7/5.
Nothing I can do about it for this grow but its fixed now for next time.
That's it for now.
The Forest of Glass micro pics.
I don't remember which photo came from which plant, I just like doing them!
Thanks for reading.
Please comment and check out my other diaries.
Hi all,
Coming to the end with this girl and my own fuck-ups aside she's a lovely little plant.
Sticky and stinky with a great uniformity to the canopy.
I said I wouldn't but I raised the feed by adding a couple of boosters. I just wanted to fatten the buds as best I can before harvest.
I'd say she's got one more feed then the flush, maybe two weeks till chop.
That's it for now,.
Thanks for reading and please check out my other diaries.
Hi all,
It's her last few days of life.
I started the flush 3 days ago giving her a good soak with 2l of tested water and did the same again today.
The ppm of the runoff was around 250 so she's cleaned out pretty well.
The plan now is to let her dry for a couple of days.
On Friday (it's Wednesday today) I'll kill the light but leave the fan on so there's some air movement and on Sunday she gets the chop!
Although I stunted her badly by topping too late she's shown herself to be really tough and an easy grow.
She's got a great smell and I'm looking forward to tasting her in a few months.
I'll do a harvest report in a week or two.
That's it for now, I hope you've enjoyed it.
Thanks for reading and please check out my other diaries.
No problems with bugs or sickness and no signs of nutrient issues.
Took to LST really well but if you're going to top do it early as she stunted from my doing it too late.
I love this strain.
Its an easy grow that laps up all the food you want to give her.
She grows sticky and sweet with a citrus, sherbet like smell.
She's curing so I haven't smoked any yet but I was chewing on a stalk as I put it in the jar and it had an incredibly strong taste of tinned peaches!
I really recommend it for a quick, easy and satisfying grow.
I might add a smoke report in a few weeks but that's it for now.
Thanks for reading, I hope you've enjoyed it and please check out my other diaries!
