And they're off...3 wee queens. RQS quick one autos. Germinated in unbleached kitchen roll between two plates. All came out quickly. One tap root grew through the paper though. removed carefully with water. A bit nerve wracking. Then planted in large pots with Plagron Lite. First leaves came up overnight on days 4-5. Mars Hydro 300w, 60x60x140 Tent, silent wings fan with a dust screen on intake, 120mm PC fan out with a voltage control. Carbon filter with ducting comes later. Extra light coming for flowering. Replaced the fan in the Mars with a Silent Wings 3 - Much quieter. Wish me luck on my first ever grow. Stealth. Concerned about wind and water. I've got some tip damage - see Week 2.

A bit worried about first one. A bit of leaf burn. A piece is missing and the other leaf has a burnt tip. What could it be? Nutrients too soon? Very hard water? Not enough or too much breeze? **Day 14 update** They live. Joyous. To be clear this is 14 days after laying the seeds into kitchen roll moistened with distilled water. I had the LED at 45cm but lowered it to 25cm and I'm sure it's stopped them stretching. Gradually increasing watering. Every other day they're getting 160ml each. Just watering near the stem to avoid drowning them. I think they're going to need more of everything in the coming weeks. Some extra info on my setup. To keep the noise down I'm using 2 PC fans until the smell comes. Powered by 2 variable dc wallwarts. I used camping mat to make holders/tubes for them in the toggle holes. Mars Hydro 300 is working solidly for 24/7. I've got a Vander 150w to add, although I'm not sure about it as it's got no heatsink on the led panel. Had to replace the fan as on the Mars with a silent wings because it sounded like an aircraft. You can see the wet tea towel in the other pot tray keeping the humidity up. The intake fan blows on this. I've got a carbon filter built in now with a bathroom extractor fan and a homemade muffler which I'll show when the time comes. HAPPY!

Day 21. Plenty of growth, Leaves seem mostly fine. The two leaves that were suffering are pretty much dead. I Tried an epsom salt spray on that plant. Not much effect. As noted, I changed my solution just using our pH7 tap water plus a bit more biobizz. Are my plants small for 3 weeks? Smell started. Sweet mmm. Shame to switch on the filter. Thinking of Florida tonight ❤️🤞 Day 16. They're growing for sure, but the yellowing on the lower leaves of one plant is worrying. Nitrogen deficiency? Not enough air movement? I've been very sparing on nutrients and trying not to overwater. What happens if up the nutes? Could it just be because I spilled water on these leaves with sloppy watering and then soaked it up with a q-tip?

Lots of growth this week. Felt more relaxed and hopeful. A little bit of clawleaf on the taller non trained babe. Not sure if it's Nitrogen toxicity or wind burn. I've lowered the nutrients to every other water and been a bit more careful with fan angles. I'm doing LST on 2 plants using white pipe cleaners. Not totally sure as it feels a bit brutal, but seems to be working. Getting quite crowded. Watering will be a laugh soon. I'm able to have different heights for the lights now I've added the 150w Vangard UFO to the 300w Mars. I'm sure the extra light has made them happier. Smells so nice. Peace. PS Oh Canada, GO Canada!

Day 34 We're into pre-flower I think. Lots of growth. Very bushy plants especially the two with LST which seems to be working well...nothing drastic just a bend of the main stem and tying down/out of a few branches. Lots of tucking under too to expose bud sites. What a week... I was worried about N toxicity so I bought a ppm meter and flushed 4 days ago. My tap water was 460ppm, the run off was 800. But I got that down, and now I'm going to use 1/4 distilled to get my tap water down to a better 300ppm. Nutes move that to 800 or so. They seemed to have taken it okay, but it's taken this long for the soil to really dry. It caused a huge humidity spike, getting up to 70% at one point even with good ventilation. I put a mini dehumidifier and a silica absorption box in the tent. Now it's down to 55% again, but def. a problem with these bushy plants. Bit nervous about later flowering. Should have grown just the 2 in this space. Air outside the apartment is 70% at the moment. This flushing has also meant that I haven't fed them for 4 days which is also a worry. I'll give them a gentle feed tomorrow though. Hope they'll make it, after this disturbance.

Day 42 Oh dear. A bad week. I went away for 4 days and left someone on watering duty...and they used the wrong water! I had 300ppm water prepared and they used my 480ppm tap water together with nutes, resulting, I think, in a lockout. I've done another flush but added some nutrients to the last pour. I think they'll survive but I'm a bit worried. One plant in particular has really suffered. Is it also wind or light damage? The worst affected leaves are all on one side facing the center where the light and breeze are strongest. Any thoughts? I really wanted to up the nutes at this stage and this setback has really thrown me. I realize now how important a ppm meter is. Hope I can get them fed again soon, although the soil is still very moist. I do have a small dehumidifier in with them which is helping some. Drainage seems fine. Good news is that I have lots of potential bud sites. Crossing my fingers. Happy Halloween.

Grow Questions

Hi, can somebody with look at my week 6 pics and tell me if this looks like light burn, wind burn or a nutrient issue? I thought initially that it was a nutrient lockout from watering error, but the worst leaves are all on one side. This leads me to wind or light instead.

Looking at your previous weeks, everything was going ok, if a little heavy on nitrogen (dark leaves) and some clawing. That the issue appeared so quick points to a combination of nute burn / lockout. What you need to do is get distilled water, enough for a thorough flush, twice the pot volume should do, so 20 liters or so, then let the plant recover without feeding for at least 1 week. As for your water source, it should have an EC / PPM of 0.4 to 0.5 EC (200 to 250 PPM), above that and it's not good for your plant, you will always risk lockouts and burns using it; below that and it needs calcium and magnesium additive. An EC / PPM meter although optional in soil, makes your life as a grower easier as it takes the guessing out of feeding. For future reference, do not feed more than once a week; feeding in soil, let the plant consume what's on the soil, only start feeding when the first signs of deficiencies appear, not before, since while a slight deficiency will not impair flowering and yield, a burn can be disastrous. Good luck

Week 7; Day 49, The good is that nothing got worse. Plants a little lighter green. Stems are like tree trunks. Roots have filled the 11l pots completely. Began the week with a slightly dodgy flush with 300ppm water. Next flush will be pure distilled. As with info in the rest of the www, separating out the truth from the bull on this requires patience. Anyway, fed them 100ppm water plus some nutes (totaling appr.500ppm) a couple of days ago. Ph of the water and feed was quite low at 6. From now on I'm using distilled water with advanced Calmag plus biobizz. No more tap water! Will gradually increase the nutes again. Colas/Buds are really starting to develop though so I'm still hopeful. Just ordered a pocket microscope. Outside here the RH is well over 70% so struggling to keep the grow tent RH low enough. Mostly it's been around 46-50%, even running a small e-dehumidifier and a bunch of the passive/silica bag type. That's not crazy high but I hope I don't run into mould/root problems. The two trained plants are denser and taking much longer to dry after flushing. The taller one is showing leaf tips curling upwards. It was dried out totally today. I had to give it some water. Too hot? Too dry? Need more wind? Smell is no problem my carbon filter is working well, and the plants are not as strong smelling as I'd feared. Maybe It'll get stronger in the next two weeks. I wish I had a quieter fan though, it's running under my bed 24/7. I dreamed about big fat buds last night that were humming. I'm a bit confused by some of the harvest times for Quick One. Some have harvested after 8 weeks? Another diary was after 14 weeks. So much variance? Whats it all about Alfie? 🌼🌿✌️❤️🤞

Week 8 Day 56 One or two weeks yet to go I think. Some stronger aroma coming through. Had to air the place well after these photos. The lowest most trained plant has the biggest fattest nugget, with loads of creamy trichomes. I'm thrilled about it. Yum. The problem plant is doing pretty well despite everything. The tall triffid creature (untrained) is slow. It had leaf tip turn down at the beginning of the week, and now it has leaf tip turn up/burn. Lockout/Wind/Light or a combination therof. I'll see what a week or two more brings. I've switched entirely to distilled plus advanced calmag (ppm 200), nutrients every other watering. All three have resin and trichomes but not much amber, and many many buds. I think I'll get a harvest in a week or three, despite the ppm mistake 2/3 weeks ago. Getting the led height correct is tricky. Stabilizing anything is tricky in a 2ft tent. Exciting times ahead all the same. Good luck all of you. 🌿❤️🌿

Week 9 Day 63 Getting close. I have to say the trichomes and buds look better than the the plants and leaves. Still haven't seen enough amber trichomes to indicate harvest. They had a couple of feeds this week, but from now on it's just water all the way, I reckon it can only be a matter of 5 to 10 days before I harvest. I triffid really got burnt, but the dried leaf tips haven't got so much worse this week. I flushed her again with pure water finishing with nutrients. I tied the main cola down a bit, in case it was heat. Could use a bigger tent. The lowest one is really starting to frost up though. The other is something in between. Can't wait to try some. Could be worse, could be better. I've got plenty of buds and lots of resin. Getting ready for a possible split harvest, I.e. drying the first plant separately. Carbon filter is only just controlling the smell. Without the filter this grow wouldn't be possible. I get a faint whiff every so often. I've got so much respect for you all. 🌼🍀🌳 Where's the weed emoji?

Mini Update: End of week 11 Started harvest today. In all honesty I think they could of used another week or two and more nutes, but I ran out of time. I have to be in Jars by end of next week. Wet weight of yield is not looking so bad though 500g for the three plants. Plus a big heap of leaves, popcorn and trim from which I'll make bubble hash, now in the freezer. Drying now for a week or so. Harvest update to follow. ✌️❤️ ------------------ . End of week 10. Time to harvest? Sooo close Getting oh so close. Thinking of pulling them. The short one has many orange/brown hairs now, Very frosty, with a fair number of amber trichomes (hard to see from my bad micro-pics), though not 10 or 20%. Grabbed a small bud off the middle plant 2 days ago, oven dried, then vaped. 4 draws and 10mins later I had a wide eyed smile nailed to my face and laughed my head off. Very heady. Would like a bit more body effect. Had a mild high next day, and light headache the next two days (Hangover?). Was this due to lack of amber or lack of proper drying/curing. There's a load of THC on these babies for sure. I'm quite "sensitive" to it. Starting to feel a bit of time pressure. Need to be finished soon. Maybe one more week? I've started "flushing", just feeding only lite calmag 150-200ppm. Added a 4 hour night to push them a bit. Hmmm.

Harvest. End of week 11. Reporting on the night of the Winter Solstice. All the best for the coming year! Fritz Says "Ah the beauty of canaabis", Yuletide greetings to you all. Ended up with a fair bit of bud that will keep me and some friends happy all through the bleak midwinter. Would have waited a week more but I had the landlords people coming into the apartment checking the heating, so had to stop. Harvest was quite aromatic, :-), I had a fan going in the room and was burning toast in the rest of the flat in case any neighbors came to the door. I had some nice ambient music going and was munching on some fan leaves just to keep me sweet and cool. 131, 156, 220g wet from each of the plants respectively, plus a mound of trimming and popcorn for making bubble hash. Drying took about six days, Hanging in the grow tent in the dark with only the carbon filter/extractor, and passive intake. I had plastic coat hangers and pegs off garden wire. Dry weight a lot less because I removed virtually all the stems. 30, 42, 47g . Although more than I deserve considering the mistakes made. Now I've had about 10 days cure. Burping 1 or 2 times a day. In Ikea glass jars with boveda 62% sachets, I'll be just in time for Christmas, Ho Ho Ho. A few test vapes have shown that this is a strong heady high with a nice flavour although not too intense. Good Yule everybody. Looking forward to starting another grow in the spring. Thanks for all the help and moral support from Growdiaries members which made all the difference. Especially here where I'm stealth growing. Really. Thank You. My tips for newbies... >It costs more than you expect. From water and power to wire, bungees and all the rest it all adds up. Time. >You need (!) a pH pen and a ppm pen. Get the water right! >Don't use ordinary plastic pots, it makes recovery from flushing too slow and humid. Use cloth or "Airopots". Humidity control can be a problem in small tents. >Even if the strain is described as low smell you will need a carbon filter during flowering if you are running a stealth grow. >Air movement and quality is important. >nutrients are not as critical as you fear. Water and air quality is more important than you realize. >Get all the light you can >I made errors resulting in delays, 2-3 weeks longer than the seedbank said it would take. Try to keep that in your calculations. I ran out of time through my own mistakes/unrealistic expectations. >I still ended up with a heap of organic cannabis better than any street stuff where I am and I know what's in it. Win! >If I can do it, so can you. Stay chilled and enjoy the ride. >Campaign for legalization. If you haven't won that battle already. I'm going to. >I love you, send me a message. I'll do an update for my bubble hash.
