Germinated by placing them in a wet paper towel in a plastic bag. They all germinated and are looking healthy. Good start, hopefully to a good grow! I did update the propagator with my old flowering light, which is 400 Watts, but also gives off a lot of heat, causing the propagator to be really warm. We hope it doesn't affect the plants too much, and will place them in the bigger cooler tent as soon as it is possible.
Normal start to the grow. Because the growlight is quite large and emits a lot of heat, the propagator tent does heat up quite a bit.
We installed a bigger fan, so the temperature now averages between 27 and 33 during lights on.
The humidity is also very low at about 30 - 35%. The values are not ideal, but the plants seem to enjoy themselves.
Update next week.
Week 2 went very well. The plants look really healthy and are becoming very bushy.
The 400W growlight keeps them from stretching too much, making the plants still fit nicely into the propagator.
Next week we'll give them their first feeding.
Till then!
This week there have been a few changes. The 400W growing light broke, which forced us to use the 100W light for in the propagator.
The plants are steadily growing, but are showing some weird signs. The lower leaves are spotted with different colors, which worsened significantly within a weeks time.
We will investigate this further to find the cause of this. Furthermore we topped the plants, and are looking forward to the grow proceedings.
Till next week!
Week 4, and if everything goes well we've past half of the growing phase. The plants leaves still show signs of stress or something we dont know,
but they do seem to be slightly improving. This week we also fed them for the first time, with some Plagron terra grow and CalMag.
For some reason our plants always seem to have some struggles in the early phase, so hopefully they'll correct themselves soon.
We also transplanted the plants from the propagator room to the grow tent, in the hopes of giving them a bit more space and humidity.
Lets see if the plants continue to get better!
Week 5, and some problems are arising. We thought the plants just had some youth issues showing in the leaves, but they are persisting. I'll list the current issues below:
1. Yellow tips
2. Curved tips
3. Burns/dried out parts on the leaves
4. Mold on the fabric pots
We increased airflow and brought the humidity down from 90% to 50%, which might help against the mold.
We also increased the light intensity from 50% to 75% for the 600W growlight, to try and give them some more energy.
Except for the temperature changes, we don't really know what is causing the stressed out plants to look this way, so we just hope it'll be better by next week.
This week the plants were struggling quite heavily. For some reason the plants seem to be stressing and/or there is something wrong with the nutrients.
From what we can find it kindof looks like magnesium deficiency, but since we're giving CalMag it means we would have a PH problem causing a lockout of some sorts.
The PH meter i used before wasn't working well anymore so i'm going to use strips to test the PH this week and hopefully get another PH meter soon for some more accurate readings.
We'll make a growquestion detailing the issue and hopefully someone can help us with whats wrong with our plants.
They are also not growing too fast, but that is to be expected as they stressed this much.
We don't really know why they seem to be struggling this much, since we haven't done much differently from last grows.
Anyway,till next week!
Also whats wrong with uploading pictures? It keeps crashing, causing me to have to upload them 6 times or something... ugh i'll see if i can upload more pictures tomorrow, it won't let me rn
This week we LST'd the plants in preparation for the ScrOG. Besides one plant having a slight oopsy because of a split middle stem, this went smoothly. We also defoliated a lot. There are many small shoots developing. The plants seem to love the light. So far, we havent given any nutrients due to the problems the plants were having the past weeks, but they seem to have slightly improved. The leaves still seem a bit bright green with some slight yellowing in between the leaf ribs, but hopefully when we slowly start feeding again, this will get better. The back left plant still has drooping leaves which look like over watering, but since we only water about 1.5 times per week, and only when the ground is completely dry, that should not be the problem. So again, we're a bit puzzled what is wrong with it. Anyway, next week we're probably going to ScrOG them if they filled the tent up nicely. We upped the Growing light from 50% to 75%, hopefully they like this change and aren't getting too much stress because of it. Update next week!
So another week has passed, and this grow keeps us puzzled. The previous issues seem to have disappeared, and now something else is going wrong. For some reason the plants are growing very slowly, and the back left plant is looking really bad. Very light colored and drooping leaves, and the stems are colored as if it is very stressed. One of our theories might be the CalMag being out of date, since its coloring has gone from dark greenish to black, but we still used it. We ordered new one, and will soon see if it makes any diffrence. It's most of all weird, cause all our plants get the same treatment, but they show very diffrent signs of health. We started feeding since yesterday, so hopefully the new nutrients are going to help them along and improve their health. A bit frustrating how rocky the start has been, hopefully we either find the cause or get an idea of what it has caused it so far.
In the beginning of this week we ScrOG'd the tent. The plants are still a bit small and still not looking very healthy,
but we hope that they keep getting better as they mature. The net is almost completely filled, so we'll use the stretching
of the plants in the first few weeks of flower to completely fill the tent up. The back left plant is still looking the least healthy.
The leaves are not deeply green, the tips are still curled and the plant shows very slim leaves. We still have no clue what it can be,
as the PH seems to be fine, and the plant has been treated exactly the same as the rest. In any case, we hope it gets better over time
and hope the tent transitions succesfully to the flowering phase.
Till next week!
First week of flower, and the frustration is still going on. We have no idea whats wrong with the plants. This is the third time we've grown them, and we haven't changed anything that should lead to these stressed plants. We only water when dry, the plants have fabric pots and good run off, so over or underwatering is most definitely not the issue. I checked the PH, its 6,3, which should also be fine. Somehow 1 plant looks worst, 2 look mweh, and 1 looked okay ish. The leaves of 3/4 plants are lighter green then we'd like to see. All plants show more or less of the drooping leaves. The leaves are also very narrow, and a bit curled downwards. The temperatures are very constant, ranging around 18C at night to 23C during daytime. Everything seems like the plants should thrive, yet they don't. Could this be disease? I'll start another growquestion as the symptoms have evolved and we still have no idea what is going on.
We'll monitor them closely and will provide update next week.
For the people that came here from the growquestion, thankyou for reading the problem in the diary! :)
Another week has passed! We removed the plants from the scrog net so we could defoiliate them thouroughly and remove any shoots that surely won't reach the canopy. They don't grow as vigorously as we are used to, but the biggest issues they had seem to slowly go away. Hopefully they keep getting better throughout the flowering stage. Updates soon!
Week 4 of flower has passed, and the plants are finally starting to look good.
They have loads of buds starting to form, and it looks like the leaves are starting to become healthy aswell.
Theres not much else to do except to keep feeding them and see how they grow the coming weeks!
Updates soon!
This week the tent is just cruising through mid flower stage. It is going a bit slowly for some reason,
but the plants seem to be healthy and the nugs seem to ripen well. Hopefully they will fatten up well.
Updates next week!
Week 6 of Flower is done. The nugs are not maturing really fast. They look healthy tho, so no reason to panic just yet.
If we compare this diary to the last Skunkxl, the flowers used to be quite a bit further along. Hopefully these will correct themselves quickly.
Update next week!
Another week of flower done. The buds are slowly taking shape. The front plants have a bit chunkier nugs than the back 2 plants. Hopefully they will catch up soon. They are slowly ripening and we think they are in their final 2 weeks. We'll keep watering them as normal and will start checking the trichomes from next week onwards.
Update next week!
Another week of flowering is done! The nugs start to become kind of fat and start looking really good. Weird part is that the front left plant is looking quite different from the rest of the tent. The leaves are darker and it has the white mutated tops, but at least they all look healthy now. The lower nugs are less matured than the at the canopy, but thats as expected. Update next week!
This is the third time we grew this strain, specifically because its such a reliable growing plant. Dense nugs, easy growing and fast flowering. They also give rather large harvests. We're happy as usual and couldnt recommend this strain enough!
We finally harvested! We were a bit in a rush due to a personal situation, otherwise we might have let the plants flower a little bit longer. But in any case, they are looking amazing, the nugs are chunky as hell and we can't wait for the final weight. We never weigh the nugs when they are wet, so thats why the wet weight doesnt make much sense. We will update soon with the correct dry weight!
hello friend
your problem is probably too low humidity at the beginning of growth and then too high humidity at a later stage. with long-term high humidity, a deficit of some nutrients may occur, I think this may be your problem. read something about plant transpiration depending on air humidity.
the amount of calmag you are giving them now is enormous and probably some nutrients will be blocked due to overfertilizing the calmag.
you are lucky that this variety is extremely hardy. I am also currently growing it in the same week.
good job with the training, I like your journal. 💚💚
