Algea... won't cause too many problems. It'll take an insignificant portion of some nutes on the surface, but it can't grow where the sun doesn't reach, so it can't have a major impact.
the problems you are experiencing are likely coincidental and caused by some other bad behaviours or choices.
Watering habits look bad. you have moisture at bottom, top and dry in the middle, that's going to promote shitty root development. The large dry pockets are likely the cause of droop, too.
Recent diary is soilles, so going with that procedure.
1) water entire volume with 10% runoff. you give enough to get the job done and not some preconceived, self-chosen voluem of water. It should contain a full, well-balanced diet of nutes. 10% runoff maintains equilibrium of nutes in soil. this makes diagnosing and formula adjustment simpler when you do react to a problem.
2) allow some minimal dry back, preferably a more pronounced wet-dry cycle early on, and repeat step one.
Simple at that. even in soil you must ensure you fully saturate the medium each irrigation. Never half-ass it. If this causes any droop, it's a poorly constituted substrate. Add more perlite or similar next time if that is the case as it is not the fault of proper irrigation behaviours.
don't blame the algea. fix your behaviour and preconceived notions.
check out cocoforcannabis.com. Their guides and articles are the best sources of information of any marijuana website i've come across. The do sell things but they don't whore themselves out to maximize profit like most websites too. It pays better to blow smoke up people's asses, sadly.
