Planted 3 Northern Lights auto on 02.09.23, 1+2 germinated on 09.09.23, #3 did almost nothing. The replacement ori sprouted on 12.09.23 out of the rockwool, took 3 days. PH6 EC700

Was gone for a few days, plants showed deficiencies, upped the EC to 1.6. Topped NL#1 and #2. Roots are growing out of the pots nicely. Whole apartment smelled for weed when I came back from a 3 day trip, NL#2 is already stinky !? NL#2 showed preflowers.

Noticed thrips, ordered predator mites because I don't want to spray at all. removed the tiny NL#3 because it wasn't doing much, placed it in a different tent to experiment and herm it. (Will not be covered in this diary.) Replaced my PH and EC meter with a newer better one, values of the old sticks were totally off. PH showed 5.8 EC 2.6, #NL 1+2 were fine, Ori showed signs of nutrient burn, added soem tap water and PH corrected it to get to PH 5.8 EC2.3. Defoliated the plants so that there are no overlapping leafes.

Was gone for the most part of the week, while I was away ph dropped drastically, EC stayed pretty much stable. At the end of the week PH was at 4.6! Plants started stretching a rapid growth, I think they switched into flowering. Did a full reservoir change to 1.9EC PH 6.5 because it dropped so drastically before. New nutes include more P for the start of flowering. Did a heavy defoliation + LST.

PH is going down down down, corrected it with PH up up up. I don't know why it dropped ~0.1/hr when EC stayed pretty much stable, roots look fine, no smells so... ??? Did defoliation as usual, the NL #1 + 2 need it every couple of days, the Ori is just fine, doesn't need anything. Also did LST and lollipoping. Smells get more intense

Did defoliation as usual and a little lollipoping. Did 2 complete refills of the reservoir, ph stayed stable for 1 day after the exchange but then super unstable again. Dropped the EC with the second refill to 1000 to see if it stays stable. Ori is going good, already looking frosty, NL#2 is comming aswell, NL#1 not so much.

Removed Universol Yellow from the nutrients. Managed to get a hold on the ph trouble with keeping the nutrient temperature at 20°C and 1ml 11.9% H2O2 for each litre of nutrient solution. Raised the EC to 1.6. Ori is going strong, NL#2 is comming along aswell, NL#1 takes a little longer but is comming aswell. Defoliated a lot again, removed all bigger fan leafes. Did a full reservoir change and barely have to correct PH anymore, most likely it was a bad bacteria problem.

Ran into some Calcium/Phosphorus trouble !? First deficiency in the grow. Topped up with new nutrient solution, added some CalMag and Universol Yellow 12/32/12. Raised PH to 6.1 and EC to 1850. Added 100ml 12% H2O2 to make sure no PH trouble occurs. Switched the Carbon filter around so that I can lift my light a little more. Orion F1 is getting really frosty ~2 more weeks? The Northern Lights take some more time.

NL#2 is bulking more and more, NL#1 is about 5 days behind NL#2. NL#2 still has the phosphorus/calcium trouble, won't get better, the others don't have that problem and receive the exact same nutrients. Ori is not bulking anymore, trichomes are 80% cloudy 20% clear, will probably chop it in a couple of days, but not everything since I don't want the plant to die and rot when it is still in the tube with the Northern Lights. Upped the air temperature so that the RH stays lower and the plants seem to like it. Keeping the reservoir temperature low with ice blocks.

Pictures taken on day 78 since sprout for the Northern Lights (left/right), day 75 for the Orion (middle). NL#2 (left) still more and more rust colored spots, won't get better I gave up but bulking nicely. NL#2 (right) comming along, looking healthy, bulking up. Orion (middle) was chopped up for the most part to give the Northern Lights more space. I expect a 1kg+ wet yield for each Northern Light. Did a little final defoliation and rearranged the Northern Lights a little. Did a reservoir change at the beginning of the week and added a little more Universol Yellow than Yara Kristalon Orange to get more P. Trichomes are clear/milky on the Northern Lights, probably 2 more weeks. NL#2 smells kind of fruity/lemony fresh.

Did a full change on the Reservoir, used 50/50 Universol Yellow and Yara Calcinit, EC to 1.8. Adjusted the light, removed the hangers so I can lift it a few centimeter, did that because it will give better lightspread, also dimmed it to 75% to 40 DLI, had 50 before maybe it was a little to much. My Phosphorus/Calcium deficiency got even worse on NL#2 so I increased the PH to 6.2 to update some more Calcium but overall it just got worse. NL#1 is showing some symptoms aswell, but not as bad as NL#2.

Hi, one of my Northern Lights has rust spots and red stems for weeks, the other one started 2 days ago. Only in top 1/3 of the plant I am running in NFT changed the reservoir 1 week ago. My nutes are mixed to 1.8 EC with 20% Orange 30% Yellow 50% CalcinitDetails + pics in week 11

Hello my friend, you can clearly see that the growers below do not know what a NFT system is XD I use ebb and flow myself. But I would refresh my nutrient solution for a last time and lower the EC to 1.5 to prevent further nutrient burning and a faster nutrient uptake. When you do not want to change your nutrients (and I would also not do this in the last weeks) then there is not much else that you can do. And my biggest issue is always the sneaky pH rising in my system. That is why I use Canna Aqua now. Problem solved but this is always a problem to keep an eye on! Goodluck mate!

Both NL now have a light Kalium/Potassium deficiency so I removed some solution, added water and Yara Kristalon Orange PH 5.8 EC 1550. Removed the partial Orion harvest from the drying tent and put it in a Grove Bag (check the updated harvest of Ori) Pictures were taken right before harvest on 08.12.23

Chop Day 23.11.23, week 11. Overall a easy grow but nothing like advertised. Mainly chopped it partially to make space for the huge Northern Lights, will update this harvest log when the rest comes down as well. Update: Week 13 - 05.12.23 Did the final harvest of the rest of the plant. 133g after wet trim, 382g total wet weight. Left a stump with a single flower to see when and if it dies because it is in the same tube as the Northern Lights.

Harvest date 08.12.23 - Day 91 from sprout. HI! My "first" proper grow, I raised some seedlings about 10 years ago and planted them on the side of a field and in the woods, I don't really count that, you do yours :) I just want to be transparent. It went better than expected, like a lot! Thanks to Hoocho on Youtube I got into hydroponics and NFT, I love NFT :D check him out! Did some veggies like salad, pak choi, spring onions etc. they got HUGE the pak choi was ~3x the size you see in the stores and tasted delicious, so at this point it was clear to me, when I grow weed it will be NFT even though almost nobody else does it, that made it even more appealing to me because I don't like to do things the way others do it :) I want to find my own way but that doesn't mean I don't take other growers lightly I study their work and pick what works best for me, a little here a little there and here I am now. Another youtuber I like to mention is Basementganja and his VERY well documented grows, and all the people on the Discord! check him out! I still wish I hadn't grown the Orion because it basically stole the Northern Lights some potential and yield. Also next time 2 plants in a 2x4 not 3! wasn't my brightest moment :D NL#1 yielded 1980g with stem and all, 985g after wet trimming. NL#2 yielded 1788g with stem and all, 1004g after wet trimming. I am not to picky with trimming, my buds don't need to look super good, I want them to taste and smell good + a good effect. I am really satisfied with the outcome, who couldn't be? The smell is kind of earthy and pine, a classic normal european weed smell I guess, not in a bad way but nothing to special, sometimes you just want your usual right? I could have lollipoped more to have bigger top kolas but you never stop learning :) I was kind of afraid to cut to much, but I don't mind smaller airy buds, put it trough the grinder and I bet nobody knows 🙀 My light was dimmed to "75%" measured 208W ~44 DLI for the most part of flower, did some 100% once in a while for a couple of hours. Had to defoliate ALOT like really ALOT almost every single day from mid veg up until mid/late flower that's why I rated it hard to grow, the rest went really easy. The fertilizer ratios I used are meant as RATIOS not exact 1ml etc. when it says 1ml A 1ml B it just means 50/50 until stated EC. I mix my dry salts 1kg/4l water to create a stock solution. I really hope the dry weight will be good, might hit the #1 spot for the RQS Auto Northern Light? One can dream huh :D Leave some comments, ask many questions!
