Kali Mist has been exceptional from the start: fast germination, and vigorous growth. Some minor nitrogen deficiency can be seen here - I went a little too light on the nutrients. Clearly a hungry strain!
She nearly doubled in size over the next week leading up to week 4. I topped her once on the main stem to encourage side branching in preparation of some LST.
Still going a bit too light on the nutrients, increasing feeding next watering!
Originally this Kali Mist mother was going to be grown solely as an outdoor flowering plant, but I decided instead of just tossing topping points, I would cut low enough for clones and then gift a bunch to my friends (and practice propagation as well).
Cuttings were taken approximately day 45 from seed, and took roughly 2 weeks to root. My cloning experience is not great, so I would expect faster rooting with a better setup. I prefer growing from seed. After an additional week of rooting/veg the clones were ready for their new homes.
I decided to keep 4 for myself to grow out in my 2x4 tent.
The clones were transplanted into 10 gallon BudPots, and then I started LST with BudTrainer clips. It took approximately 2 weeks to fill the canopy, then I flipped to 12/12
Huge props to BudTrainer, the LST clips were phenomenal for filling out the canopy, and the BudPots really helped train the branches in to specific areas.
Approximately 3 weeks since cuttings rooted, now transplanted into 10 gallon pots.
The beginning phases of LST don't always look pretty, but the full canopy to come will speak for itself 😎
At this point the plants are really starting to give off a delightful spicy dank aroma, requiring a carbon filter.
After a other week of veg growth these beauties were ready for flower.
Expecting a substantial stretch in the first 2 weeks, I flipped with a fair bit of canopy left to fill up.
I continued to feed Vega nutrients for the first week of flower to support the final stretch and fill in efforts.
Week 3 flower, with plentiful flowering sites and a lot of vegetative overlap from LST training - I defoliated thoroughly.
I was expecting much more vertical stretch in the first few weeks of flower but was surprised to see these plants stop after about a 10" stretch.
Making this a great indoor Sativa dom. Strain!
After the stretch finished I switched to BioCanna Flores.
Week 4 - a lot of pistil growth and the aroma shot up to another level! Really happy with how the canopy filled in, looking forward to a decent yield!
Worked up to an ideal nutrient schedule now, maximizing available nutrients without excessive burn.
Week 5 flower - wow!
The buds really started filling in, resin production is looking great and the spicy aroma is soaring.
Added BioCanna BioBoost to the feeding schedule.
Week 6 was all about buds thickening up even further and begin to fill in from lower branches. Resin production really kicked up as well!
A final defoliation at the end of this week to really maximize flower size all the way down and open up the canopy for better air flow and lower humidity.
Weeks 7 and 8 - really impressive flowers now, just about hitting the ripening stage now!
After the week 6 defoliation there's a bit more room for the flowers to fill in even more.
Week 9. The flowers are continuing to grow, becoming slightly elongated and getting thicker as well!
I've been lowering the light over the last two weeks and slowly increasing my light towards maximum power.
This was the first week of feeding only bio boost.
An examination of the trichomes showed mostly clear and a little bit milky coloration, indicating several more weeks to go!
Week 10 - buds continue to swell!
It looks like a fair amount of density has packed on over the last 2 weeks, making it really important to check trichome maturity with this strain. She may look finished around week 8 or 9, but she has much more to offer in the following weeks 10-12 or perhaps more!
Trichomes are looking 80% milky this week, so the light gets lowered a bit more, and preferring a heady high I'm planning to chop at the end of week 11 😍
I can't overstate how much more weight these girls put on between weeks 8 through 11!
Day 77 trichomes were 95% milky and 5% amber, right where I like my cannabis but also indicating I could have taken Kali Mist 13 weeks!
I'm not sure the yield would benefit from more time because these ladies are stacked!
A real pleasure to grow, easy to clone, and incredibly stable genetics as I definitely introduced some nutrient
and light stress along the way.
I was only able to visit this tent once a week, showing just how forgiving this strain can be and making it a great choice for new or passive growers!
Just all around great genetics from Serious Seeds 🤩
Love Kali Mist!
Incredible high yield! I didn't weight the harvest wet but the dry yield was 280g of manicured large buds, and 70g of smaller buds that I gladly set aside for water sieving. Total dry yield was 350g!
Kali Mist responded very well to being topped and with LST, providing a heavy yield and a full canopy in my small tent.
The aroma is spicy with heavy pine notes, still in the process of curing.
The plants were very easy to manicure as well, with a high bud to leaf ratio. I dry trimmed and even though it was a lot of branches it didn't seem like a chore.
Big shout out to Serious Seeds, Canna and BudTrainer for making this an epic grow!
