Raised bed Auto Early Summer grow
This grow wouldn't be possible without the generosity of @fastbuds who provided the seeds for this run.
I asked for 10 seeds of the one strain as It will be a more uniform run with all plants flowering at the same time
(hopefully anyway) .
I particuarly like the Gorilla zkittlez fastbuds does so that is the one I asked for.
The experiment I am trying is to see how well a bunch of auto's does in a mass planting scenario amongst companion plants under the Hot Australian sun.
The raised bed I'm using is 2m x 1m and is filled with a soil blend that I have been building over the past 3 years .
all ammendments are strictly organic and I add seaweed based supplements with some mycorhizae ,
compost teas, aged manures as needed.
Over the winter I grew a good crop of peas in the same raised bed so hopefully that may provide a little extra
available nitrogen .
Since then I have been growing several companion plants for the auto's , Mostly Petunias , Marigolds , Spring onions and Basil.
But there is also some Fat hen , Borage and Comfrey .ictus
These were planted in order to act as beneficial companions to the cannabis plants , some are for bug and insect deterrance whilst others are for
terpene enhancement and soil microbial enrichment .
I know full well how autos need plenty of light hours during the vegetative stage to achieve any sort of decent yields .
so I am giving them supplemental light via a couple of LED solar lights that come on at dusk for an extra 8 hours .
The first 2 weeks of each plants life will be spent in the pots I started them in ( see above pics ) mostly to protect them until they are a bit bigger.
Follow along and see if I can get any sort of result from my experiment or if its a complete shitshow 😬

The first couple of weeks have shown just how bad I am at growing autos 😳
I have never had very much luck with them to be honest and so far this grow only makes that more obvious.
However I will still go on with the experiment , with the next phase being the replanting of each seedling into the raised bed .
Chances are I'll end up with 8 small plants which is why I'll be planting them fairly close together creating a sort of Screen of green .
I chose today because the weather is milder with overcast conditions which is better when transplanting any types of plants.
Also the use of seaweed is useful to erduce transplant shock.
As usual I will also be dosing each plant with some Mycorhizae 💪

It is 1st December 2023 which is also the first day of summer here in Australia.
And from the next 7 days forecast it is starting with a bang! Today is Friday forecast to be 37 , however from Saturday thru till next Friday
it is expected to be around 41 celcius Everyday . 😥
This weeks Update ****
I have the 7 plants in the raised bed now , but I kept one in a 7L pot .
I plan on spraying it with STS and attempting to make myself some fem Auto's to play around with. 😎
I will do a Gorilla Zkittlez x Gorilla Zkittlez and a Gorilla Zkittlez x Tangie.
** During the week I sprayed the plants with some Organic bug spray as I noticed signs of attack . **
## Because of the high daytime temps , I plan on watering more often .

Not a lot to report this week , It has been a bloody Hot week!!!!
Finally getting a few days of cooler temps apparently before rising back into the 40's next week.
The plant in the pot is looking really shithouse so might even end up culling it ??

An extremely hot week has hit my area!!
45 Today and it could go quite a bit a bit higher tomorrow , maybe as high as 48 celcius 😕
The 7 remaining plants have all begun to flower , Nowhere near as much stretch as I would have hoped unfortunately.
I'll probably be lucky to get 15g a plant , bummer hey but that's the way shit happens .
Its very likely I won't grow anymore autos for awhile so I'll make the most of this one and next time I'd like to try some of the fast flowering photoperiod varieties
from @fastbuds .

Hi all the 7 remaining Gorilla Zkittlez are starting to produce buds now , I sprayed one of them with STS as I still intend on making myself a few seeds
for another grow one day.
Because of the very hot days and fairly warm nights , I removed the supplemental lighting from the solar lights and just letting the plants recieve the natural
sunlight as they were suffering a little stress and needed rest at night.

I hope you all had a great Christmas break 👊
the plants are cruising thru flowering now , The plant with the green covering is the one that I sprayed with STS .
Once it starts developing reversed male flowers I will attempt to pollinate one of the other girls.
Added some black basalt rock dust and mineralised fruit bat guano to help fatten those buds .

Each plant among this lot are different from eachother.
I have several short stocky pheno's with different smells and a couple of taller plants which seem to be maturing slower .

What a fucking crazy week that was!!
5 days in a row above 45 celcius , hot winds and hot nights really put the stress on my garden .
Then yesterday we got hit by a summer thunderstorm that dumped enough rain to cause problems in the soil.
If you look at the pics you will see how quickly the plants faded.
Because recovery is not an option I'll be harvesting them soon.
Then I will need to work on replenishing the raised bed with dry amendments and the use of a cover crop .

Well what can I say?
This grow has definitely been a failure on my behalf.
I won't go into too many details other than the seeds lacked any vigor and were slow growing and small from start to finish.
However it wasn't all the fault of the seeds , as my autoflowering strain skills ( or lack thereof) also played a part in the disapointing outcome .
I won't be growing any more auto's from any source as they just aren't my thing .
I would love to try the @fastbuds photoperiod varities .
