Got this seed from my Big Bud previous grow where I grew a 34 yr old Big Bud 1989 strain that I got from a long time grower in Colorado. This is the only seed I got from the plant.
So far she's got light green leaves that are big and fat. I just topped her today. She will be vegging for 3 to 4 months and have a 4X4X7 grow tent all to herself once my Filipino Kibungan Sativa is finishes. Fir now she will be sharing room in my other 4X4X7 tent with a couple Grimm Brothers tester seed grows.
This Big Bud is in 7 gal pot with my custom made organic soil that has neem seed meal, Kelp Meal, Alfalfa Meal, Crustacean Meal, rabbit shit and Earthworm shit and lots of chunky perlite.
Here we gooo!
She has filled in and evened out since being topped last week. Interesting thing is that she's not growing much vertically. She's staying really short. But she looks really good and her fan leaves are getting bigger than my hand.
This girl wants to stay short. Just about 3 inches a week. She's got tight nodes and big fan leaves.
I had to lollipop underneath because it was so tight it was hard to water and leaves everywhere. Was just mildew waiting to happen.
I have a good feeling about her flowering.
She's becoming a nice plant. Nice symmetry and large fan leaves. She smells very strong now. Just touching her leaves makes my hands smell. She's going to turn out very special.
I'm cloning her to make a mother plant because I gotta feeling about this one.
This girl has massive fan leaves. She's shooting branches everywhere.
I had to remove quite a few of the large fan leaves to allow light penetration and for humidity reasons.
Smelly and very vigorous.
Little defoliation. She is a real stinky plant. Almost putrid. She's somehow got a fungus gnat infestation which I am mitigating. Put up more new fresh yellow sticky traps and moved the rotating fan to blow across the top of the soil surface.
Still she's got nice buds and colas shaping up.
She's getting some fat frosty buds and she stinks to funk heaven. It's so strong it makes my stomach turn a little but.
Also fighting a fungus gnat invasion as well.
Chunky, swelling, snow covered, sticky, smelly. Turning out to be a fast flowering pheno. Could be a genetic expression from the 30 yr old seed when it was mutated for survival. She's looking like a real treat.
I watered in a Neem Seed Meal tea to combat the fungus gnat larvae and DE on top of soil which seems to have knocked the gnat population down hard.
She's chugging along. Looking to be some nice yield and smoke.
Fat colas on this Big Bud. Sticky smelly and still swelling. I'm keeping an eye on her for bud rot and adjusted the oscillating fan to try keep the air circulation around and through the colas better.
This old school Big Bud strain from 1989 living up to its name. She is still shooting out new calyxs and pistils all over her colas. No signs of herming.
I'm still fighting fungus gnat infestation. I put cut potatoe halves to draw the larvae out of the soil and added a nice layer of Diatomaceous Earth on top. I also noticed these fungus gnats can walk in yellow sticky paper and not get stuck. Although lots have gotten stuck. It's like they're evolving 😆.
Senescence kicking in moderately. The buds are still shooting out new pistils like crazy. Going to let her bulk up a little bit more.
The Purple reddish yellow colors popping so beautiful. Darker purple around the buds.
