Hi all,
It's the New Year grow and we have Blue Cheese Auto by
Royal Queen Seeds.
Germination set-up;
I've filled a 10l fabric pot with a 65/45 mix of coco coir and perlite.
I'm using Canna Coco Professional Plus which is pre-buffered with CalMag .
The day before planting I soaked it with a mix of Biobizz nutrients.
4ml Root Juice
2ml Fish Mix
2ml Acti-Vera
2L Water
All pH tested to 6.5 with a ppm of just over 200.
She'll now only have water with CalMag for the first 2 weeks with a Root Juice booster half way.
One seed was wrapped in a damp paper towel and put into a zip lock bag with a thermometer. I then wrapped it in cloth and put it in a draw.
After 24h at 21 degrees and 90% humidity she popped.
Another 12h and the tap root was long enough to plant.
It went in the pot about 1cm deep and was lightly covered then had the end of a plastic bottle put over it for the humidity.
The light is a 200w fan shaped seedling light that gives her 8000 Lux at the top of the bottle. A little high but it's fine.
It'll be on 24h for the first week before I change to the veg setup.
That's it.
Any questions or comments are welcome and please check out my other diaries!
Hi all,
It's day 8 and she's just had her first real water with food. I L with the mix shown, poured on a couple of inches out from the base of the plant.
Until now she's just been being sprayed a couple of times a day with water and had .5l with CalMag midweek.
She's looking happy and healthy.
That's it.
Comments and questions welcome and if you haven't yet then please check out my other diaries.
Hi all,
First thing to say is that I got my dates a little wrong in the last post.
I counted some of the seedling period as veg which I shouldn't because it's done with a much weaker light.
It means that veg is now on day 13, see pic.
It also means I started feeding too early, but it doesn't seem to have hurt at all.
In fact I'm planning on raising the levels again tomorrow.
The amount of feed shown on here is by the litre but with the 10l pot I give double that in 2l because I like to measure the runoff ppm.
I've lowered the light and the lux is now at 45k.
That's it, I shall keep you posted.
I hope you all had a good Christmas and have a happy new year!
Hi all,
End of week 3 and there's been some really good growth.
Healthy green leaves and lots of pre-flower action.
I upped the feed to 2ml per L across the board except for the calmag that's 0.8ml as standard.
She gets a 2l feed every time so I can test the runoff.
Last check the ppm was coming out a little high, though not higher than it went in, so to avoid any problems I just gave her water with CalMag last feed.
Midweek I did a little LST starting gently with a pipe cleaner then changing to metal hoops.
That's it, I'll update you in a week or so.
Hi all,
End of week 3 and its been a bit of a stressful time for all concerned.
At the start of the week I decided to give her a spray with Biobizz leaf coat, just as a preventative.
I've used it before to good effect but this girl did not react well.
As you can see from the pictures I got major leaf clawing and curling.
I've no idea why and it didn't seem to effect growth. For the most part the leaves opend up again after a few days but it doesn't look very nice and I won't be using it again.
Midweek she started showing signs of lockout.
The ppm were measuring 600 going in and 700+ coming out. There were also some minor signs of deficiencies on a few leaves.
I did a full, mid-grow flush.
30l of water (10l pot) let to run straight through until the ppm was reading 75 and then a full feed with the mix I use for flowering.
This time it went in at 900 and came out at 175.
Then today as I was adjusting the LST I managed to snap off a pretty good sized branch.
As long as no fungus or infection gets in she should be fine but it's bloody annoying.
That's about it for now.
I'm meant to be going in for some pretty major surgery next week so my mum's going to be looking after the grow.
She won't be filling in the diary though so I'll try to catch up in a few weeks.
Hopefully I'll be up and about before harvest!
Anyway, wish me luck and I'll see y'all later.
