OWW, NL and Banana Fast all popped quickly and easily. Transplanted to soil and took off.
Stracciatella, Berry OG Kush and Super Shark are slowly sprouting in soil.
Double Black took a while to pop and is placed into soil.
Blue Venom and other Berry OG Kush have cracked, but no taproot has emerged yet.
Jack's Dream from Green House Seeds has not popped.
All strains are feminized.
Seeds are all about 2 years old. Stored in a jar with desiccant in the fridge.
Straciatella (1), Banana Fast (8), Berry OG Kush (2), Super Shark (1), Double Black (1), Blue Venom (1) and Jack's Dream (1) were all freebies.
Soil in solo cups under Viparspectra XS-1000 LED @ 25% intensity 2' from plants.
Dec 16 Update: Stracciatella stalled and the taproot rotted. RIP.
Berry OG Kush, Super Shark and Double Black have shed their shell. One of the White Widows had difficulty shedding its shell and is very deformed; not sure if it will make it or not, but it's struggling to grow its first set of leaves.
Blue Venom is stalling in the paper towels, so I transferred to soil to see if it will take root or not.
Only one more Berry OG Kush and Jack's Dream remain in the paper towels. Berry OG is very, very slowly growing its taproot. Jack's Dream looks nice and fat, but still has not popped and, at this point, will likely never ever pop.
Dec 19 Update: Blue Venom, Jack's Dream and one of the Berry OG didn't take root due to stunted taproot development. The messed up White Widow turned out fine.
Final plant count is 4 White Widow, 4 Northern Lights, 2 Banana Fast, 1 Super Shark, 1 Berry OG Kush, 1 Double Black.
The struggling White Widow pulled through. Berry clearly got some light bleaching when it was forming its first set of leaves, but otherwise seems healthy. The White Widow on the lower left has very tight node spacing. One of the Northern Lights is clearly expressing a more indica-leaning traits, with shorter and fatter leaves, and one of the white widows is expressing some sativa traits with loner and slender leaves. In a few more weeks, I will be able to take my first set of clones and put them into a DWC tote for flowering.
Clipped screenshots of the lineages for each of the plants, according to Seedfinder. Banana Fast is most likely some kind of breeding attempt, likely based from the Crockett Farms Banana Kush. Banana Fast were a promo (aka: tester beans) for a limited time and is not listed on Seedfinder.
Berry continues to struggle along. Pruned off the 3-fingered leaves on several plants. Will be repotting very soon.
Took some macros by reversing my lens. There's a few tiny flecks of dust on the sensor. This doesn't show up when the lens is on the right way, but the way the lens magnifies everything when reversed, even the tiniest bit of dust shows up.
Repotted into 1 gallon containers with perlite-rich potting mix. Very tight, but they all fit in a 2'x2' cabinet. The struggling WW has taken off with very broad leaves and tight nodes. Berry struggled a bit, but has established a good root network and is looking much better under 50%-strength lighting than 75%.
SS is looking very compact and bushy and its side branches are coming in quickly and well developed.
First full week in 1 gallon pots. They will need to be topped soon, most likely between this weekend and early next week before update.
After the light goes off, I've been foliar feeding with a fine mist of 1:4 dilution of my usual hydro vegetative solution: 3.5 grams of General Hydroponics MaxiGrow, 3mL of Botanicare Cal/Mag, 4mL of Botanicare Hydroguard per gallon. adjusted using General Hydroponics pH down. Solution is stored in an aerated bucket. Will be moving to a 1:1 dilution.
01/26 No pictures this week because I'm doing multiple days of time lapse photos. Next week should have some yummy vids and photos.
Plants have been doing well. Topped all of the plants between 01/20-01/23, except Berry, which will get topped tonight. Berry has had a very strong rebound. Still very pale in comparison, but is showing strong vertical growth. Vigorous growth of lateral shoots in most plants except for one of the WW. (iirc, it's WW 3) The tallest WW with the widest node spacing has had extremely poor lateral growth, even at the topping site. Likely another 2-4 weeks before mothers will be a clone-ready, based on observed growth.
I prefer DWC and haven't done soil for a very long time. It's shocking how much slower growth rate is in soil. A good thing in the long run, because pruning a mother plant in hydro is a PITA. At the same time, I want these plants to hurry up so I can toss clones into a SOG test. My plan is to take 2 clones of 4 plants and flower them all in one 14-gallon tote.
01/28 I had some issues with the timelapse because I didn't set the intervalometer correctly and it eventually went weird after running for over 36 hours and started taking pics every 5 minutes. Things have been fixed and I have add a video from 01/24.
I am going to trim some fan leaves tonight and decided to flower 2 cuttings each from the two Bananas.
@Traduhh, Thanks! I hadn't used my camera in a long while and decided to dig it and all of the accessories out instead of using my crappy cell. Unfortunately, I've had some issues with my shutter. I think it's dust as the issue rarely pops up since I cleaned the shutter curtains.
