Like all my seeds, 24 hours in glass of room temperature water before transferring to soil to really get the ball going
Seed took 4 days to sprout. Not sure if I buried it more than usual or not. Probably did. 20 litre pot used here which is double what I usually use.
Anyhow, not rocket building, here's the lowdown...
20 litre pot with biobizz all mix, with a couple inches of clay pellets above the soil for good measure added around day 7 after sprouting.
Seed spent first 24 hour in glass of water (room temp) in a darkened spot wrapped in a towel to keep heat.
Once shell split was put straight into soil (which had been given a flush with water at same time as seed put into water) buried half inch deep, then lightly covered
Spent a week under some generic seedling lights raised a few inch above for germinating, now have switched over to Marshydro ts1000.
Think a water droplet or lights too close maybe root cause of yellow markings on leaves. Boo !!
Not much to report.
Minor adjustment to the fabric pot. Removed some excess layer at top of the pots (last 2 pics)which was restricting light and ventilation to lower nodes; should open up and will allow for better cosmetic look
Maybe fed once past week. Will be fed within next 24 hours and with a regular schedule going forward.
pot probably at 15l capacity
introduced water schedule of 2litre every 2 days
increased distance from canopy to light source (a few inches each of last two water feeds. will continue to monitor and adjust)
performed a little LST around day 22/23 but since removed.
so last week one of my cats got stuck in the growspace and collapsed some of the insulation around the plants straight onto the plants, a little further impromptu LST i guess, except the falling objects obstructed most of the light, unfortunately I was out the entire day so unsure how long this was the case, alas no real damage caused, just a little further LST as stated earlier.
started nute feeding around day 30, as follows (biobizz; per litre)
0.5ml bio-grow, top-max & bio-heaven
1ml bio-bloom
will multiply doses x2 next week with calmag added @1ml
Relocated the lady to allow for more room as filling out nicely, albeit maybe too nicely !!
will definitely be using a tent going forward, however will just pursue with what I'm doing at present.
Upped the nutes, as listed above.
Given a top up one feed inc. 2ml of cal-mag as was going into feed for another plant I have on the go and thought would do no harm. Anyhow, not much else to report
Fed once, at beginning of the week, flushed out a couple times, just because other lady next to her wasnt getting nutes, so I thought if one doesnt get, none get !! 😠 !!
Otherwise not much to say
easy to grow even for novices such as myself. i like royal queen seeds and still have a few to go so will review some others...
green gelato grown out strong and resistant and a 20 litre pot was perfect size for it to grow out, my only issues were space and expierence. but she rode it out and grew out from sprout in 89 days start to finish (just under 13 weeks)
i didnt stick with any specific nutrient feed schedule which i know would've aided me more but she still grew out alongside siblings fine enough. last 3 weeks was real thirsty and went from a feed every 3 days to daily feedings.
i'll come back with what's on the scales in a week to ten days
DAY 89 CHOP CHOP
not enough leaves and plant is just burning up as result, should've probably chopped two days ago, i don't think last 48 hours helped much. anyway. will get back about dry weight, done a little trimming but its 1am and i'll reiterate for third time, last 48 hours didnt help; burnt up the remaining leaves and didnt aid the cosmetic look much lol.
regardless, happy enough. constant learning curve, nothing much too it. we grow, learn and go again.
final thoughts; get a nutrient schedule and ride it out with it, don't tweak, go with something tried n tested, i messed around too much with that and encountered issues as a result.
Hey mate! It seems the problem can be with the rinsing of the soil, if you don’t rinse them well it affects on its pH leading to a bad nutrient absorption. Try watering less and keep your lighting 20 inches from the sprouts now they’re still germinating. Hope this works! Keep up the good work and good luck!! 🚀 🌱
@James, Thanks for advice, only a couple days since and she's doing just fine & yes a friend mentioned the watering. It's a 20 litre pot I'm going to double down on size for my autos going forward; got another auto in a pot half the size which germinated 2 days later and looking good
TL;DR Smaller pot going forward
