The Remix, attempt 2. So I totally bungled my first attempt at run 2. My seeds sprouted quickly then stalled. I assume it was due to the lighting and RH levels of my lung room.
I made some changes and this round seems to be doing much better. The changes - planting my seeds right into their final home after the beans popped instead of trying to use those starter houses and coco husk shells. I did keep the beans covered and humid until they popped their shells off their first leaves. I'm keeping my first try pictures for my own data :) *I didnt have another purple lemonade bean so switched to critical purple
The seeds were germinated with a wet paper towel on 1.18 and sprouted and planted on 1.21 all 4 seeds pushed through the dirt on either 22nd or 23rd.
Run 1 (Purple Lemonade)
Started on a moist papertowl in a bag sealed and placed in a dark location on January 3rd (evening) The beans were popped by day 2. I planted into coco husk cups on January 7th (morning) ~3.5 days later. By the time I planted the popped seads the roots were about a .5 in/1.25 cm long and looked fuzzy. Not sure if that means I am already doomed with mold or paper towl or normal. The root was digging through the paper towel.
The seed was placed in medium made of gradient level of soil/coco mix with around 40/60 at the bottom of the cup with a little happy frog starter to 10/90 at the stop. I sprits with 15 sprays and into the seed dome fully closed under 40% light 2in/5cm from top soil. lights will be ~15 hours on until they are big enough for the grow tent
Clearly I struggle with the seed stage. The seedlings popped through the dirt the same day they were planted and then they stunted and stretched. I think my error is removing the humidity dome too soon paired with trying to use a crappy light.
I put the light about 3 inches away from the plant and they still stretched. This seed stretched and seem to push itself out of the extremely loose soil. I replanted it the best I could in the coco husk cup and am giving it more water
Soil is Happy Frog mix with Perlite, Vermiculite, Coco, and Nature's Living Super Soil for Auto Flowers
Week 2 is going well. I am already off to a better start than my first run. I water a little every other day and moved my lights up to 25 inches. I had the light lower and the plants bent over. I don't have the right formula to prevent stretching with my current set up, but I am following the guidance of the LED light provided. The lights are at 25% strength.
