They are close to 6 nodes growth, so it is almost time for the first top to begin the mainline process. This week they were moved into 7 gallon pots and I added clover seeds to germinate in each pot. I upgraded to a new CO2 system to be able to sustain levels above 1200PPM. AC Infinity Ion bars have been added to the sides, and we now have congruent 600 PPFD from wall to wall. I also removed the 2 old AC Infinity S6 fans and replaced them with 4 Gen 2 fans, 1 for each corner. I left them in cups for too long I think, but we will be training to 32 tops each this time so they have plenty of time to fill out. Earlier this week there were some minor signs of deficiencies. I took reference photos to compare to after feeding and it was resolved very quickly! All new foliage growth looks quite green and happy, and old foliage has not worsened. I began the mainline starting this week, cutting the plants down to only the 3rd node and 2nd node and training them horizontal with stakes, using the tops of the plants to try and propogate clones for the first time. Today on the final day of the week they received the 2nd round of topping, bringing them to 8 tops currently. I will wait for 3 more nodes, then top again for 16 tops, repeat the same again for 32. Technically these plants are older than 3 weeks but counting weeks is a formality anyways, I start counting usually 3 weeks from seed, 1 week to germinate and 2 weeks as a seedling getting established. Not the best pictures but tbh I just pull them from the thumbnails folder of my camera. If you want to see then really shine, sub to my YouTube. Everyday I adjust the stakes to train outward. They did not need to get topped this week, however week 4 they will be raised to 16 tops. Unfortunately this week was difficult for me as I had to flip my sleep schedule to nights to accomodate my wife's work schedule and it messed up a lot of my plant management. For instance, I check my plants every morning to adjust stakes because the plants will stretch when lights come on and this can lead to stem snaps if you are unlucky. In this case, I was very unlucky and that is what happened. By the time I got to my tent it was 4PM and BC RBX #2 had already broken a main. The break point was dry when I got to it, and I tried to patch it but it was too late to recover. I think I will have 32 tops by the end of week 5, and will likely flip before week, but we will see! This week they only received Ventana Nutrients, nothing else. CO2 levels have remained constant above 1000 PPM, mostly around 1200-1300 but this CO2 tank that uses citric acid and baking soda kinda sucks, not gonna lie. Moved light schedule to 20 hours and upped PPFD, these girls are being hammered with light and taking it well. I installed UV bars into the tent and enabled them for 1 hour per day, in 2-30 minute increments. Unfortunately I lost a few tops on 2 plants, mostly due to the clovers causing weird growth, it was my own fault for putting too many! Start Watching Here: https://youtu.be/jrmH_SKlssk Busy week! They have been handling 20 hours light well! This week they got a good dose of Growers Recharge with Superthrive & FOOP Sweetener. I tried to increase light but after some signs of light stress, I had to bring it down. Currently they have been under nearly 1000 PPFD for 20 hours which is crazy DLI!! Not a purple stem in sight! I am pushing these plants very hard to see where the limits are. I have kept CO2 levels above 1200 PPM and my temps are high, and will be kept high until mid flower when I lower them! I am very happy with the structures on these plants so far, and we are making good progress. Only 1 more week of veg needed and I will be at 32 tops on 2 plants, and some less on the other 2. I pushed these ladies the last 7 days with 24 full hours of light at a WHOPPING 80DLI, and they ATE IT UP. At the start of the week they received a double-dose of Recharge with a bit of Superthrive and FOOP Canna Sweetener. After that it was Ventana all week with the final feeding including 3ml/g of Expand. This is not on the official feeding formula, but I do this every grow on advice of Ventana customer support to give the plants an extra boost going into the flip. On day 4 of the week they were topped and defoliated for the final time, with 32 tops per plant! Except of course the plants with a few accidents..whoops! The mini plant however is only staying at 16 tops. The ladies have begun the stretch and have clearly put on a few inches from the start to end of week. Although these plants have been flipped, I am still feeding them a final week of Veg nutrients + Expand as the first week of flip is a transition phase of accelerated vegetative growth. As you can tell the ladies have bounced back quickly and have begun the stretch. I've put up a scrog net, my first ever time making one instead of using a stretchy one. I think butchers twine was not the best material since it leaves fibers behind so I'll have to adjust next time. I will be going hot and heavy with light and temps for the first 3 weeks, then I will begin bringing down temps and ppfd as the buds mature.
