Here we go again, 2nd grow has officially started!
This time with photos instead of autos.
The goal for this grow is to try to minmax a bit more than my first grow and to learn about transplanting, lollipopping and topping.
Last grow I didn't really care about ph'ing my waterings and I had a cheap and pretty bad humidifier.
This time I have the right stuff to control my ph and I have bought a great humidifier. I'm also upping the size of the pots, gonna go for about 5 gallon pots this time.
First week done and here they are, so far so good :)
The plan over the next few weeks are to re-pot about when the leafs are reaching the sides of the pot.
Other than that I feel I've managed to dial in the environment in the tent quite a lot better than my last grow and I'm pretty exited to be growing photos this time.
Week 2 done!
Decided to transplant them all today into 17 liter (4.5gallon) fabric pots.
I could have most likely waited a few days or maybe even another week but I'm going to be super busy this weekend and coming week so I figured I'd get it done.
It is my first time transplanting though, but I think it went pretty smooth.
Turned them upside down and sprayed some water on the roots then sprinkled some mycorrhizae over them before re-potting and watering.
Hoping they will recover well from the transplant, other than that I'm just waiting until they grow slightly bigger and fully recover from the transplant so I can top them.
Second grow, first one with photos this time, so I'm a bit unsure of the timing but it seems the consensus about when to top them is somewhere around 3-5 nodes, so I'll let them recover and hopefully sometime next week I'll top them.
Week 3 is in the books and the ladies sure are growing.
One of the Sweet Cherry Kush plants seems to have what's called ducksfeet mutation I've been told after consulting a growdiscord.
Looks kinda wierd, but after doing some reading about it seems that it shouldn't have any impact on the flowers and I hope that's the case.
The two kush plants haven't really exploded like the White Widow has but they are chugging along nicely.
Topped a few days ago, might have done it a bit early but I'm hoping it will turn out fine anyways.
Week 4 is in the books.
I've spent most of the week being pretty disappointed in how slow the two Sweet Cherry Kush-plants are growing compared to the White Widow. Clearly some genetics are better than others on that front.
BUT, I decided that I'd go ahead as planned and do some defoliation and some low stress training anyways, even though they are pretty small and growing slooooow, and I have to say they recovered pretty quick and are atleast looking better and better by the day.
I did the defol+lst 2 days ago (first images) and they seem to have taken it pretty well when comparing them a few days later.
They most likely won't catch up to the WW witch has twice the stems and budsites but they are atleast showing some new growth and recovered pretty quickly.
I feel like I should keep them in veg for a bit longer than I had anticipated. Not having any set number of weeks in mind but likely atleast a few more weeks.
This is still only my 2nd grow so I'm gonna take my time with these and see if I can up my harvested grams per watt compared to my first round.
Watering them about 2 times a week, when the soil has dried up, with ph'd water at 6,5 and still only with the Grow-nutrients from BioBizz every other watering, adding a bit of calmag every other nutrient-loaded watering.
Alot can happen in one weeks time, that's for sure.
Did another round of defoliation.
Not going crazy with it because I plan on lollipopping them eventually after flipping to flower, so just making sure the light can penetrate the canopy.
Untied all of the LST because I want them to grow a bit taller before flipping.
Next time I'll let them grow on their own for longer before HST/LST but I'm still learning.
Week 6 is in the books.
Did another round of defoliation and reapplied some LST.
All in all, pretty satisfied with how it's looking at the moment.
The 2 Kush plants (right side) have caught up some to the single White Widow and they are all looking pretty healthy as far as I can tell.
Gonna let them recover for a bit then I'll add the trellis net and flip to flower.
First week since flipping done.
I have done some light defoliation with a few leaves here and there that was blocking budsites during the week but did a somewhat bigger one today.
Gonna let the ladies ride now until it's time to lollipop them around day 21 from flipping to flower.
Turned on my extra lights right after flipping so I'm now up to 320w, but still staying around 700-800 PPFD.
Also added a trellis net.
Started adding bloom nutrients this week, they seem to be taking to it well.
I will push with a bit more nutrients than what I did with my last grow and see how it works out.
Ph'ing water to ~6.5, adding nutrients and a small dose of Cal-Mag every other watering.
They have started drinking more.
I'm sure the extra lights and added heat because of them are doing theirs I suppose, but I'm now watering about every other day, 2L (~0.5gallon) at a time.
Lowered RH to around 55% for now.
Week 2 of flower is in the books and now I can tell they have started to stretch for real.
Love checking in on them at this point even more than before 🙂
Not much to do other than to wait.
Going to lollipop and defoliate them next week so for now I'm just leaf-tucking daily and watering them when the soil is dry, witch usually is every other day.
Doing 2 liters (~0.5 gallon) at a time when I water them, not sure if I should up it but for now I'm sticking to it.
Keeping up with the same schedule of nutrients every other watering with ph'd water to about 6,5.
I would like to see them get a bit taller after this coming week but we'll see how it goes.
Pretty satisfied with how it's going overall so far I gotta say.
Week 3 of flower is in the books.
Defoliated and lollipopped them this week. Not sure if I overdid it (first time) but they seem to have bounced back alright.
Middle plant and the white widow on the right has started to turn a bit pale, so I've upped feedings and added a bit more calmag and raised the light a bit.
From what I've determined from online sources it looks mostly like a nitrogen deficiency but we'll see.
Somewhat concerned over the leafs thinning out at the top but we'll see how it goes after upping nutrients, they don't look miserable (yet) hopefully some food will help.
Just watching them slowly growing more trichomes and slowly fattening up now.
Leaftucking a bit every now and then and keeping up with their regular waterings, other than that it's a waiting game now.
Another week has gone by and they seem to be doing just fine.
The SCK in the middle has been lighter green than the other ones now for a few weeks, not sure what to do about it but it's growing fine and seems to be swelling like the other ones.
Waiting game is on 🙂
