Hi @flowerboy! I've been using a 200W CFL for a while and noticed this: most of the times, you put the lamp right above the canopy, even as close as 2 inches / 5 cm, BUT it's all about the airflow. Concretely 2 inches won't burn your buds if the plant's summits does receive a slight continuous fresh breeze. Otherwise, if the air is static, a 2 inches plant<-->lamp distance will burn the apical summits. In other words, every setup is different, due to different bulbs / different fans / different environment temps. The best thing is to try by yourself, during a two days period where you can watch your plants every hour or so (weekend?): start by putting the CFL at 10 inches / 25cm, check the heat with your hand and give the plant 3-4 hours to react. If she's showing curling-upward leaves or other heat-stress signs, increase the distance. If she's praying the light and don't seem to bother about the distance, decrease the distance a bit and give her another couple of hours to adapt & react. Doing this step by step, you should be able to determine the best plant<--->lamp distance for your setup/environment. Hope this will help, keep us up-to-date and happy growing 👊

Nice looking garden @Flowerboy! If it fits your situation, using a 'SCROG' here would have been greatly beneficial to your end yields! Either way healthy looking garden only some overwatering in week 5 but other than that its looking perfect my friend nicely done! 😎

what distance you guys recommend for cfl? 125w to be precise

@Stick,thank for such a fast and detailed answer.. ive actually answered you right after but i wrote it trough the app and it didnt post it.. anyway you said it perfect: its all about the condition of your space.. i currently dont have a fan but its on its way.. by now im relying on my pasive intakes and a fan that is sucking the air out of the tent.. lamp is like 10-12cm from canopy with temperatures around 24-27C.. and the girls are looking great but i just wanted to be sure im doing it right

Those nugs are just greasy with resin. Would be fun to run them as bubble fresh frozen. Great job.

Hey Flowers boy! I tuck mine but those gelato leaves are quite huge and manage to untangle themselves, you can cut those leaves in half or remove them! They look beautiful yours! Will follow your journey, so far one of my gelato looks similar to one of yours. Best of luck!

hi mate.. thanks for stopping by 😀 im also tucking the leaves, but as you say, they bounce back real quick but gelatos are pretty big and i like their structure.. good luck to you also mate 🙏🤞🏽😀 cheers

Very nice Diary...I loved growing the Choc mint OG as well. Just took mine down and was seriously impressed some of the best smoke in 15+ years of smoking. I think I'm scared for the full cure lol. Keep em coming and happy growing😎

@CANNACANUCK,word man.. this strain has an insane taste and smell.. you can recognize it from a mile away.. this is my second run of CMOG and will definitely hit the third time because i know i can make her go better.. it is a medium sized plant for sure and a fast flowering one.. perfect all round smoke if you ask me.. although its a 80/20 indica it doesn’t stone you to the ground if you light it up first in the morning.. but definitely knocks you out at before sleep. its a must to have at least one Chocolate mint in your garden if you ask me :) thanks again @humboldt for making this wonderful strain

@@flowerboy, With defoliation it's a fine line as you are taking away parts of the plant that provide energy and convert the nutrients. This is best done slowly and with leaves blocking predominant budsites 👍 I like to get all defoliation done by week 3 of bloom. As budsites are just forming and you will easily see the budsites that need exposing to more light 👍 This can be achieved by defoliation or by tucking and bending leaves so they are not blocking those valuable budsites 👌 Chocolate Mint OG. Looking in stunning shape. Stacking on some serious weight in the home stretch👍 Keep the updates coming mate as harvest is approaching fast 👊 With love from Humboldt County✌️ Kind regards Mark..

@@grzesiek,im planning to buy one in the near fiture.. but for now, because im limited with space this is the best i can go with anyway, i dont want to give them less light, so im always on the safer side ;)

With a 125w cfl you can get the bulb very close to the top of the canopy but as said you do need some airflow across the top plant canopy or you may burn the babies. I do find the hand test work well. If you put the back of your hand under the bulb at the height of the plant and it does not burn or heat your hand your plants will be good👍. Some experimenting would be my advice mate. What works well for 1 grower may not work well for you. In general 5-10cm away from the plant canopy with a low watt cfl is perfect 👍 Nice to see another Chocolate mint OG grow up and running on the grow diary platform 👌 Good luck my friend. We will be watching from Humboldt county ✌️ Kind regards Team-HSO..
