Declaring this a failure. Never managed to get the seed to germinate. Starting a new diary: https://growdiaries.com/diaries/20625-2nd-hydroponic-attempt-after-1st-failed#
I had a lot of problems with germination as well. What worked for me was moist paper towel in between 2 saucers in a warm area. Then when the tap root came out, used tweezers to put into moist rockwool. Good luck!
@burnerac, yeah rockwool is not the best route. I think rapid rooters are, but I can't afford to buy 50 when all I need are 2 or3. I've had 2 or 3 germinate upside down in rockwool and they all died, so now I help the out by placing then into it with tap root down. Soaking them in water (room temp) for 12 or 16 hours or so first before putting them into the paper towel and in between two saucers seems to work good. I also put the saucers into heated seedling tray which provides just enough heat for this sucker's to pop. Need to keep a close eye on them so they don't dry out. Also, cheap paper towels work better than the expensive ones.
Your should abandon this diary and start a new one so the weeks match up. No shame in doing it, I have an abandoned diary. Its important to let people know that not all the grows go according to plan and some just don't work out. Keep trying, I have had a hard time with germination too.
I tried a few germ techniques, I still soak the seed in water first regardless of the method I use. I don't know about others but sometimes I loss a few days if I go with the paper towel method, though this is my experience. Good luck man, sorry things aren't going as planed, much love <3
@dancingshrubbery,
Soaked Grodan Mini-block 2"x2" for 10 seconds in pH 5.5 solution of Neptune's Harvest Tomato & Ved and General Hydroponics RapidStart. Inserted one ILGM AK-47 seed point down and put square into a quart sized ziplock bag.
@dancingshrubbery, broke the rockwool in half last night and the shell isn't even cracked. I'm just not doing great with germination. Will start my last seed this week.
