I've only had a couple of "grows" ... started with FastBuds several years ago and had nice success with the Green Crack auto (1st = 4 ounces ... 2nd = 12 ounces). Strains have changed a lot, so I got some of the latest beans and thought it was only fitting to start with FB again. I'm starting this journal right before harvest ... so, I can already say that this one turned out pretty nice so far!
Got ahold of a clip-on microscope/magnifier for my phone - can finally see the heads of the trikes close up - beautiful ... makes me want to get into macro photography!
We're finally up-to-date (sorry I started the journal late) ... 02/21/2024 ... I thought she was going to be done a week ago - glad I let her go a bit longer ... still not seeing any amber (except a few on some sugar leaves) ... been waiting for the clear to mostly turn - don't want any extra anxiety in my meds! By the looks of things, I think I'll feed her one more time and "plan" to chop in a few days - over the weekend. The sweet sweet smell of sugar cookies is taunting me!
These trichomes are driving me crazy. Even at the top of the main cola, they are just now starting to turn amber (still just yellow at this point). I'm happier with the ratio of clear:milky, though ... I just watered her, so I'm thinking this weekend might be the one ... few more days!
Over the last year our state's medical program (OH) ... I was finally able to sample all the "top" strains ... and I've learned that some of the best strains are mixes from Girl Scout Cookies ... I really don't know what the genetics are for this strain (FastBuds doesn't have that info available) ... but I'm hoping she's a true GSC ... those, along with Wedding Cake strains, seem to be my faves.
Update 1: After the initial two week cure, I took out a few buds to sample. Those have lasted a while, because ... sadly ... it just isn't very potent ... doesn't have much of a smell or taste (good or bad).
As for the buzz .... noticeable, but barely. This had a very "clear" buzz - not very distracting, if you know what I mean. Good for morning/daytime use, but doesn't really get the juices flowing when I want to be creative or immerse myself in something (games/shows/etc)
I don't blame the seeds/strain/breeder ... the plant had to deal with several issues and stressors that surely led to sub par flowers. It was essentially one of my first ever plants, so I'm learning as I go - plus, my tolerance will even out as I drop away from the 29-30% stuff I was getting at the dispensaries. I have 4 more seeds of this strain, and I'm sure I'll give it another shot when I can do the genetics justice by at least knowing how to feed them properly ;) ps. I will wait another month and let it cure more - give an update later on - maybe it'll improve a tad (fingers crossed)
This Gorilla Cookies was pretty easy to grow ... luckily, since it's the first plant I've grown in years. I was seeing preflower by day 21 ... stayed pretty short .. LST seemed to go fine. She looks very frosty ... I'm very excited to sample these buds after a long slow dry and cure. I will post the dry weight next week after she's dry and trimmed!
Update: It made it exactly 1 week (7 days) for smaller branches to "snap" (first few days were 65F 65% RH, but the last couple days the RH dropped to 55%) ... buds were quick trimmed (mostly just be running my fingers over the outside to pull off the drier leaves). Everything sealed up in grove bags for now ... will check on them periodically
Total Dry: 118g (4.1oz)
